Katelynn De Ravin, more commonly known as Kate, is a freshman in college and the proud mother of a seven in a half month old baby girl named Zoey. She moved here, because she didn't want the father of her baby to know that Zoey was his child. After the fight they had when she was two months pregnant, she had vowed not to let him be near Zoey. When he got angry, he got mean and she knew that a baby couldn't be around someone like that. So, while she was in the early stages of her pregnancy, she switched schools. Once she graduated from high school, she saved up enough money to move to Lipton to go to college part-time.

Once she started college, her daughter was still very young so she didn't sleep much. When she wasn't doing her school work and taking care of Zoey, she was working to put food on the table and to just survive. Sure, she got some help from her parents, but she didn't want to rely on them very much. After all, it had been her choice to live away from home to go to college and to raise Zoey by herself. Sometimes, she wishes she could get some help, but she usually pushes these thoughts to the back of her mind and just concentrate on the present.

Kate is very nice once she gets to know people and is very protective of her baby girl. She is determined to stay in school and to raise her daughter the best she could. She doesn't trust people around Zoey very much, because she doesn't know what they are like at first. She doesn't want anyone that have a bad temper around her daughter, because she knows that isn't healthy for a child to be around. She sometimes feels insecure and sad, but puts up a strong front for her child and those around her. She doesn't want them to know how much she has been struggling to make ends meet.
