Engaged, what in the world was my parents getting me into? That was among the things Alan couldn't help but think about lately, seeing as he was now engaged to a girl who barely knew a thing about. Not that it was much of a problem; given time they would get to know each other. His only real problem was the fact he didn't think he was ready to be engaged, but since his parents felt it a good idea and he wanted to make them happy he was going along with the whole thing. No matter how awkward it all was, the two hardly spoke. Other than the short conversations they had here and there, other than that they were complete strangers. A hand ran through his sandy blond hair pulling at the few knots he managed to miss when fixing it early this morning being heady off to his morning classes.

Now as it hit around two in the afternoon he found his self down at the beach, where he was meant to learn more about Amy and just get to know her better. Make my parents happy, he thought to his self taking a deep breath of hair taking in the scent of the ocean air smiling. He loved the beach, and after moving here with his family he found here whenever he could. It was normally the place he went to just to be alone, walking along the beach looking at the sky and the water. Only just yesterday he found his self sitting in the sand thinking about his engagement, Amy seemed like a nice girl from what he knew of her but he could never be too sure.

How could you be, looking around the beach he sighed? He knew he had to be early, but he wanted to be. It gave him more time to think, and that's just what he needed to do. Sitting in the sand he hugged his legs setting his head on his knees, "she should be here soon" he told his self.

She looked at her finger that had the diamond ring on it. She was engaged. And this wasn't even a bad nightmare that she could shake herself and wake up, out of it. It was reality. she had to face it and deal with it. Her parents were very much upset with her older brother who had left the house a few months ago and never came back. He acted like family meant nothing to him but that wasn't the truth. He wanted to live his life in his own way and didn't give anyone a chance to have a hold on his life. On the other hand, Amy wasn't in favour of his ways. According to her, being obiedient to parents was a duty of the children towards their parents. She loved her parents too much for all the care and love and affection they blessed her up with, and in return she could do anything to please them. When her mother informed Amy that they had accepted the engagement proposal for Amy from the Moores, she couldn't believe it. Amy laughed at it, thinking her mother was only joking with her but she wasn't. After the engagement ceremony, her life was so ruined. She had to break up with her bf, her best friend because she didn't wanted to be dishonest with Alan who seemed to be a very nice guy. As much as she hated this, that much she cared for her parents happiness. She didn't wanted them to hurt by any of action, like her brother did. So there was she, standing with a label of ''being engaged'' in such a young age, only to make her life all so weird for the sake of her parents.

But there was one thing good. Her parents had given her the right to break off everything if things didn't work out between her and Alan. Like if he tried to hurt her or if he turned out to not his type or something, she could feel free to put an end to their relation but she knew her parents would only be unhappy about it . And she hoped things would work out well between her and Alan because she didn't wanted to see her parents upset at all. She was knocked out of her thought when her mother spoke up, telling her that she was getting late to meet Alan. They had planned that they were going to meet each other at the beach and get to know each other better. It was going to be so weird so deal with him but she had to do it. There was no other choice she had.

She reached for the picnic basket that she had prepared earlier and picked up a mat for sitting on it and a pair of short and a shirt just in case she made up her mind for taking a quick swim, that barely had any chances. Leaving the house she reached for her car and after 15 mins of drive, she was at the beach. Parking her car in the parking lot, she walked out holding the picnic basket and the mat and started to look for him. She noticed him sitting him in the far off corner from the croward. Taking a deep breathe she started to walk towards him, hoping that everything will go well. I should make a fool of myself and be nice and calm. yes. she told herself.

She stood infront of him, dropping the mat and placing the basket on it. ''Erm.. Hi! I'm so sorry I'm late. My mother made me cook some lunch for the two of us. '' she said. '' I think she's trying to get me to impress you with my cooking. '' she grinned. It was a joke. She sat on the mat and motioned him to sit next to her. '' So,erm. .. this is a beautiful place. '' she was trying to start some sort of a conversation between them. ''Do you come here often?''

Alan respected his parents a lot to, seeing as he was an only child they always saw a lot in him and wanted the best for him and the best person for him to many in their eyes was Amy. At first he was totally against the entire thing, but it was just what his parents wanted and who was he to disobey. He was obedient, even as a child he was and he knew if his parents asked him to do something he would. That was why he was going through with this engagement, for the sake of his parent’s happiness something he put before his own happiness. That was always what Alan did, it was the biggest reason he was becoming a teacher.

Sure he did want to be a teacher, but a Literature teacher was not what he expected. If anything he was thinking more along the lines of History, his favorite subject when he was in high school but his parents found it better that he go into teaching literature and he agreed with them. Literature was just as good as History right? Lord Alan only could hope so, glancing down at his watch again he sighed a little bit to his self. Amy was clearly running late, not that he minded it that much though.

That only gave him more time to think, and boy did he have a lot to think about lately. His classes for the most part, with tests coming up soon he had to figure out how to study for them and juggle all this other stuff going on right now. It was almost hard for him to focus anymore, another sigh escaped his lips. He also wondered about a lot of other things, but those were the furthest things in his mind right now.

When Amy finally walked up he smiled a little bit, “you do know you’re over twenty minutes late. Your excuse seems reasonable though so you’re forgiven” yes Alan was not one to ever understand a joke, it was because of the seriousness he held. “With the short time I’ve been here yeah I do, it’s a good place to think” he added.

Amy wasn't happy that she was going to be late but there wasn't anything she could do to change that. Driving with great speed wasn't an option because firstly her parents didn't allow her to do that and secondly she was herself a very safe driver. when she reached, placing her things on the sand she felt it to be necessary to apologize and she did so. She did joke with him out he didn't respond back or perhaps he didn't but not in the way she expected. He took it seriously, for he was the serious type.. oh boy. this was even more awkward. Thank you for forgiving me your highness. '' she smiled. Beach had to be one of the best place. it was romantic and good, perfect for the two of them. I love this place. Especially walking on the wet sand and feeling water under my feet. would you like to walk with me there?'' she sounded excited. She knew it was awkward for them , in fact very hard especially for her as she loved someone and was forced by her parents to be with him but she was making every effort to move on from her past and face the reality. ''You know what? Let's go! You'll love it as much as I do. '' she said, taking off her sandles and holding onto his arm and pulling him up. She waited for him to take off his shoes and they ran off to closer to water. She folded up her jeans and reached for his hand and started to walk around on the wet sand with the water waves coming and going back. Her other hand ran through her hair that kept falling onto her eyes. She was trying to make it less awkward for them but she didn't know if he was comfortable or not. '' Do you like it? '' she beamed.

Holding onto his hand she ran into the water and pulled him in with her. Letting go of his hand, she collected some water in her hands and threw at him and ran away. Laughing out she stuck out her tongue. '' Na na na na! Catch me if you can. '' she was childish but full of life and fun and she was only trying to make him realize that they could have so much of fun together if they tried to loosen themselves and get over the awkwardness.

Alan wasn't always the joking type being the serious person he was all the time, but at times he could be a little less up tight and have some fun. He was still only nineteen years old and he knew if he grew up to fast his life would be nothing but boring, and that was the last thing he wanted to happen. So when Amy grabbed his hand and pulled him to the water he wasn't going to just say no, instead he laughed and went along with her. "You’re welcome by the way" he said as they walked along the beach there feet in the water, he was only glad he was wearing shorts today. “You know you didn’t give me much of a choose before pulling me over here, but I’m quite okay with that” Alan smiled a little bit nodding looking at the sky and the water, “I love the beach” he just said quietly before water was thrown at him making him gasp. ‘You threw water at me, and now you must pay” he said before he chased after her. He was determined to catch her, and he was going to catch her.

(I know it fails, I didn't have any muse for this. The next one will be better.)

Amy knew alan wasn't the type to joke around but take everything seriously. She didn't like this at all but there wasn't a way she could get rid of it. She couldn't change him but change herself and her ways or perhaps make him realize that he needed to change himself for her. this wasn't going to be easy at all. She decided that she will do anything to keep her parents happy and inorder to please them she sat next to Alan who was her fiance but she barely knew him and he barely knew her. She had pulled him up and ran towards the water. '' Don't complain, you know you love it. '' she grinned. She ran towards the water and jumped around a little. filling water in her palms she throw on him and ran off, sticking her tongue at him and asking him to catch her if he can. She kept running as faster as she could, knowing him he would be chasing her all the way until he caught her. She ran more in the water so it reached untp her ankle as she ran, but he was faster considering his athletic built and he got a hold of her hand. She turned around to face him and had it in her mind that she was going to push him away and run off but when she was about to run, she slipped over something slippery, more like a jelly and pulled him over and he slipped over and fell onto her, as they landed in water. She did gasp a little but when her attention was held by his eyes, she looked into them, deeply and smiled broadly. this has to be the first time they were so closer. Her cheeks turned red and her pants and shirt soaked in water. Her hair fell on her eyes and she nervously bit her lips. you're so going to pay for this one mister. '' she teased.

Alan was raised a certain way, raised to a life of seriousness and school work always working hard and getting good grades. Which was why he was so surprised when he heard of the engagement and met the girl he was going to marry, they weren’t alike in any way. She seemed to be all about fun and Alan was hardly like that always being the serious hard working type, but he was all for changing his way and learning to just live his life more freely since he was still very young. Nineteen was too young to be acting like a total grownup so he had to act young in any way possible, “hmm maybe I do love it because if I did no way would I tell you” he laughed running after her and finally catching her by the hand. He now loved the years of sports he did in high school, since that was what made catching her possible. Although when she turned to face him, he was sure what her plan was in till she pulled him over and they both fell into the water. That was when he had the chance to look right into her eyes, her beautiful eyes and he smiled. “Oh really so I’m going to pay for this you say, how am I going to pay hmm?” he asked her.

Amy wasn't expected herself to get engaged in such a young age. She never even had a thought of such a thing for even a minute but today she was tied in a relationship with someone who was very kind and honest and she thought highly of him. It was their parents who had turned desperate to see their kids happily married. Oh boy. She ran as much as faster as she could, always turning back to look at him and laugh as he ran behind her. As he got a hold of her hand, she turned around to push him and run but she slipped and as he held onto her hand, he fell along with her and landed on her in the water. She didn't look around to see if people were watching them or not, she was too busy staring in his eyes and smiling. oh and turning red. He asked her how she was going to make him for for it. Was this a challenge for her? She pushed him off her so he fell beside her and she moved over him, so now he was at the bottom, wetting his shirt and jeans and she was going to enjoy laying on him. '' Well? You didn't see that coming, did you? And now we both are wet just because of you. '' she said. It wasn't his fault. Actually it wasn't anyone's fault but she said that it was just to tease him. '' And I'm not getting off you. '' she stuck out her tongue and sprinkled water drops on his face with her fingers and chuckled.

Alan sure didn’t either, at the time of the engagement he was just broken up with his girlfriend who in fact was cheating on him with his best friend for half of their relationship ending it all in him being heartbroken. This was probably part of the reason for this engagement, trying to make it so maybe he and Amy would someday fall in love. So far he honestly had no idea if that would ever happen but they were sure getting along for the most part, staring up into her eyes he kept the smile on his face even after she turned and was now on top of him. “Oh really so this is all my fault now, even though it totally isn’t since you tried pushing me in the water and fell” Alan stuck his tongue out drops of water hitting his lips. “I can stick my tongue out to you know and fine with me, go ahead and lay on me people are watching s you know” he said with just a shrug of his shoulders.

He pointed out the most awkward thing that people were staring at them . She had it in her mind to pull herself up and get up but then she realized there was no need to shy away or feel awkward. the word 'awkwardness' that existed between them was needed to be dragged out of their relation by it;s strings forever and kicked out so they could have a more clear and better understanding between them that pulled them closer to each other, without any hesitation. knowing Alan he wasn't the type to make a move so it had to be Amy to make every move and get through it. they didn't have much time to learn whether they could live together for the rest of their life or not. '' But who fell over me? You did. you're responsible for this all. she blamed him, definitely not meaning what she said. she knew it was somewhat her fault. As he sticked out his tongue she chuckled. '' You are a copy cat. '' she poked him. She didn't know if he didn't like it or what, but she wasn't getting off him. She liked staying close but she wouldn't admit it. Putting her arms over his shoulder she smirked, giving him the challenging look again. '' So what? let 'em stare. I'm engaged to you and I've every right to do whatever I want, unless you have a problem, I'm not getting off .'' she said showing him the ring on her finger. And leaned closer and looked into his eyes. '' I love your eyes'' she added, whispering as she looked into them

He really couldn’t seem to help it when he pointed out all the people staring at them because it actually made him feel a little awkward and a little uncomfortable but it was something to surely get use to right. Since he was pretty sure they would find themselves in many awkward situations being together and later being married, and at first it would be a little awkward but he knew as time did go on it wouldn’t be as bad for him. For now it just going to be really awkward for him though, he wasn’t at all use to anything that was going on and for a while it would be just totally awkward. “You’re the one that made me fall you know so it all points right back to you every time, I’d admit it if I were you but I’m totally not a copy cat and this is very true we are engaged. Meaning you don’t even have to get up” he said looking at her confused when she said she loved his eyes. “My eyes, what about my eyes they are just eyes” he sid said with a shrug of his shoulders.

it was indeed very awkward and uncomfortable but they had to overcome the awkwardness if they had to live together for the rest of their life. Marriage wasn't a joke. It was something very serious. They were taking baby steps and getting to know each other and trying to understand each other but she wasn't that patience. She always rushed herself into things and act without thinking twice. No, mister, it's your fault. You pulled me and I fell and then you fell over me. '' she was stubborn enough to not to give up and keep on annoyin' her tilll she was bored. Yes you're a copycat. Why you sticking out your tongue like I do? You copycat. '' she said. I wouldn't unless you get tired bearing my weight i'll get off. '' she grinned. She shook her head at his comment about his eyes and chuckled. He said he watched romantic movies but didn't get a hang of romance in his personality. She smiled. '' They are green, that what I love.'' but that wasn't the real reason. Why she loved his eyes, she didn't know but this was perfect. Laying there on him, in water. . it was so perfect.

To be honest Alan was very use to awkward situations living in the family that he did, his parents were all about the awkward and embarrassing moments and even still today he found his self in many. The day the engagement was one of those very days, he was still in shock about it since it was so sudden and he had no idea it was happening in till his parents told him about it. Since he really respected his parents of course he went totally along with it and here he was today engaged to Amy, and he couldn’t say he minded it. Sure it was very short notice, but he couldn’t complain and tell his parents that he wasn’t going to go through with it. It wasn’t like he didn’t like the engagement either, Amy was a very beautiful girl and he knew that very slowly they could be able to get through this. “No I think it’s your fault and I know it’s your fault, because it’s just your fault” Alan said shaking his head. “I’m also not a copycat, I know I’m not a copycat” he was looking at her eyes now to, “no I can handle your weight and you like my eyes because they are green. A lot of people have green eyes you know”.

They were bond to get used to the awkward situation but she didn't wanted to be forced to be used to something. It was a relationship forever, so it had to come along naturally for heaven's sake. She didn't want either one of them to consider it to be a burden on their lives. She wished that they got through it, together with happiness from the bottom of their hearts. She chuckled as she heard him whine that it was her fault. It's not my fault even for an inch. Your fault it is and that's it. '' she repeated it again and again that it was his fault although it completely wasn't his fault. '' You're a big copy cat. A very big copy cat.'' she said. He was stickin' out his tongue just like him so he had to one copy cat with no doubts there. '' Ahh, good. Now I don't need to get off. Unless you've another reasonable excuse to get me off you. '' she didn't know whether he wanted her to get off or not but if he really did then she would.. all she needed to know was what he wanted. '' Yes, of course but I never get to stare in their eyes in this way , so it's special, which is why I love it. '' she said. She didn't know why it appeared to be so hard for him to understand what she was actually trying to say, this was making it more awkward but she tried not to feel awkward but act more normal than ever.

“Nooooo it’s totally you’re fault just because I say that it is indeed your fault and when I say it is your fault than I know for a fact that it is your fault and there is no changing the fact that it is your fault because I know that it is so there. I just went on and on about nothing just to prove a point” Alan laughed. He was slowly getting use to the idea of actually marrying Amy and a part of him almost even liked the idea of being married to her since she was such a beautiful girl and could maybe even teach him to have fun. “Not a copy cat” he frowned at her, “not at all and good I never said you had to get off of me now did I” Alan smiled than nodding his head. Yes it was very true that his eyes were the only eyes he was able to stare into, as her fiancée she had that very said right to do so. “You can stare into my eyes a lot now, they are for only you to stare into” he whispered.
