you heard that i was trouble , but you couldn't resistj u s t t a k e a b i t e l e t m e s h a k e u p y o u r w o r l d- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -The park was quiet but that was because Millie was yet to arrive, the brunette walked along with her guitar over her shoulder and her flat pumps walking slowly across the large expanse of grass. Millie had only be the small town for two weeks but the park had become a regular destination for the girl, especially accompanied with her favourite instrument or a book of some sort. She knew a lot of people came to the park to get some peace and she always worried about upsetting people but at the moment she had nowhere else to go play her guitar, it just wasn’t the same playing it indoors. She headed to a quieter area that seemed pretty empty, there weren’t many people around so the guitar shouldn’t bother them too much. Music was the way the girl escaped life, it was just a hobby although most attempted to convince her to take it further, she only did it because she enjoyed it, not because she wanted to go somewhere with it. She wanted to work with kids, music was just a way for her to say what she wanted without getting angry or upset, she could just pair her words with a simple melody.
She sat down on the grass and pulled the guitar from her back, placing it on her knee and putting her capo on the appropriate string. Today though Millie didn’t plan on playing one of her own songs, she was playing one a friend of hers had taught her back at school and she’d just fallen in love with it. She started to strum and sing, starting on the first chorus hoping it would remind her of the rest of the lyrics, “but our love was like catching a snowflake, as it reached our hands it was already gone” her voice was soft but precise and each note was perfectly hit, she did warm ups every morning as she made her breakfast, she didn’t know why, it was just a habit she’d gotten into when she was at school and it’d never gone away. Sure the song was almost a wintery one but Millie loved it so much, it was so beautiful and the lyrics were poetic and described the feeling so perfectly, she’d had a love like that, so short but yet so strong.
Around her the park was pretty empty and the girl slipped into her bubble of music as she performed, ignoring everything around her. People walked past and smiled whilst some even looked for a hat in which to put their money. Millie had a day off from the daycare though she was sure she’d end up there at some point later in the day just to check up on the children that she cared for. Millie got attached pretty quickly and there were children there that she missed if they didn’t come for a week or so, they were also so unique. Back in England Millie had worked at a carehome, giving the kids the care that the ‘care’workers didn’t seem to provide. She missed them everyday she was in England because they had really changed her life and she hoped she had done the same for them. It was different than working at the daycare because the children at the carehome didn’t have others, they really depended on you.

evelyn had spent almost all of the day in her room playing new music, and writing songs. music was her world. it was the one thing she could turn to when nothing else was there for her. music had a way of making her escape from real life. when she felt like she needed a break, music was there. it helped her connect with people, too. when there was a person who liked music, she automatically clicked with them. it was how she had met many of her friends back in england, the home she really missed. evelyn had gone to a performing arts school, and she was really fond of it. eventually her mom wanted to move, not really giving evelyn a reason why, and they ended up here. she wished that she could go back to england somehow, but she knew it would probably only happen after she graduated, and she'd have to pay for it herself.
after awhile of getting bored at home, evie decided that it was best if she got out of the house for awhile, and went to do something. the park was really ringing a bell in her head, like it was calling for her. taking a small breath, she grabbed her sunglasses and headed out. usually she would bring her guitar if she was just going to the park, but since she had spent all day playing, she supposed she should give it a break. evelyn began her walk to the park. it was a short walk, but it was peaceful. it was a beautiful day outside, though it was supposed to rain later. evelyn hoped that the weather man was wrong, because she hated rain. blue skies and a bright sun was the type of weather for evelyn.
as she reached the park, evelyn looked around at all of the people. there were little kids, just like at every park, and evelyn loved to watch them. there was something about little kids that she just loved. maybe it was because they had nothing to worry about in life. no matter what, they were fine. people were there for them. when you got older, life was all let downs. people betrayed you.. or if you were evelyn, you fell for a guy you promised you'd just be friends with benefits with. now she was in love with him. as she headed down in the park, she heard someone playing one of her songs. "what the?" she asked to herself. who could be playing one of her songs? no one here had heard any of them yet. walking towards the sound, she saw one of her friends from back in england. "millie?" she asked, sounding rather excited. "i didn't know you were here. how exciting!" she exclaimed. evelyn had met millie back at performing arts school in england, and she had grown fond of the girl. she thought she was fun to hang out with, and she was a good musician. and she sounded good singing one of evelyn's songs. "i'm glad you like my song, though. you sound amazing!" she smiled.

you heard that i was trouble , but you couldn't resistj u s t t a k e a b i t e l e t m e s h a k e u p y o u r w o r l d- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Millie wrote her own songs but sometimes it was other people’s lyrics that captured a moment way better than she could describe it. Millie wasn’t very good at writing words, she was better with the melodies and it was her friend that provided the words to say what she wanted to say. Millie had gotten taught numerous songs at the school but she had really fallen in love with Evelyn’s music. The girl captured music in a way that Millie aspired to, she had always struggled with that which was why she knew that music wasn’t to be her main goal in life. To Millie music was just a hobby, something to keep her entertained when she had nothing to do. People were surprised that she had attended a performing arts school with no plans to go on in music, all she knew was that music kept her happy and maths and history made her mad, so it made sense to go to a school so she could focus on what she loved in life. Of course, up until the age of sixteen she had to take the normal subjects like most people but as soon as she was into her sixth form, it was arts all the time.
A huge smile covered the girl’s face as she looked up to see the person shouting her name, it was Evelyn, speak of the devil. She stopped playing and looked up to the face of a girl who looked rather confusing, “I only got here a couple of weeks ago, I didn’t know you lived here” she said putting her guitar on the floor and standing up to give her friend a hug. Millie and Evelyn had got on really well back at school, they shared a passion for music and they were both pretty happy go lucky girls. The both loved to party and they had performed together numerous times, sure, Evelyn was in a year younger than Millie at school but they were actually the same age. Millie had started school early which meant she was a bit younger than most people in her year group, it didn’t bother her but it just meant that sometimes she couldn’t do things that other people could. Living in England she’d been one year off the drinking age, now she was four years off and back to square one.
She smiled as the girl complimented her playing and showed appreciation for it being her song, “you know I loved that song” she said sitting back down on the grass and patting the ground next to her so the girl would sit down. Millie moved the guitar getting it out of the way because she wanted to know all about what the girl had gotten up to over the least few years. Millie loved her guitar but she wasn’t as careful with it as most people, she’d happily let it sit on the grass, she wasn’t too worried. Millie had missed that clear English accent and hearing it from the girl was just amazing, it reminded her of back home, that same tone and intonation. Sure, she’d only been away for a couple of weeks but home seemed ages away and she didn’t know what to do, one minute she was loving the new place and the next minute all she wanted was to be back in her old home with her family and friends.

evelyn loved writing her own songs, it made her feel more connected and put together. it helped her get her emotions out when no one else would listen to her. music was something that just connected people together, from all around the world. you could be in a room of people who didn't speak the same language, or know each other, and music could bring them together. that's what evelyn loved most about music. it connected people. evelyn loved when people liked her songs. it brought her joy, that someone could love something that she put so much time and effort into. the only dilemma that evelyn had with music was whether or not she was going to go to college for it. there were many musicians out there who went far without going to college for music. however, it could help her out with extra knowledge of the business, and what she was going to be doing. but, if she didn't go to college for something other than music, she'd have nothing to fall onto if her music sinked. evelyn didn't really want to be famous, she just wanted to share her music with people. music to her wasn't about the fame, it was being connected and doing what you loved to do.
evelyn was still so surprised that she had found millie. it wasn't everyday that you found your friend you knew back all the way from another country, and another school. "i just got here like a week ago. it's so weird running into you." evelyn didn't mean weird in bad way, but it was definitely ironic. when mille got up and gave her a hug, evelyn hugged back gently. "i missed you though, you were always one of my best friends." she smiled. it was true. millie was one of the only people that evelyn told personal things to. evelyn didn't trust a lot of people, but it seemed like millie was an exception. and, millie was the only one who knew what all of evelyn's songs were about. well, all of the songs that she had written before they weren't able to see each other anymore. not even evelyn's family knew who most of her songs were about, because she was sure her paren'ts would judge her, and she didn't want that to happen. evelyn didn't have the easiest parents to get along with. they didn't trust her. and they never allowed her to go have fun. parties were absolutely not allowed, and she could only go on dates if her parents thought one of her friends was going along with her.
evelyn sat next to millie once she made room for her. "looks like people liked you!" she exclaimed, pointing to a few bills and coins that people had dropped at her feet. evelyn smiled a bit when she said that she had always liked that song. it was one of her favorite songs that she had ever written. there were songs that millie had written that evelyn caught herself singing at times, mostly when she was dancing around her house trying to clean. "so how have you been?" she asked. evelyn was curious to know what her friend had been up to since they had last seen each other. "do you have a boyfriend? how are your parents? anything exciting?" evelyn could ask questions all day, but she figured it would be best for her to let millie have a chance to answer her.

you heard that i was trouble , but you couldn't resistj u s t t a k e a b i t e l e t m e s h a k e u p y o u r w o r l d- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Millie often felt that she didn’t have enough to say to put into a song, she hadn’t really had much exciting happen to her and she definitely hadn’t had enough love problems to sing about. She assumed that most musicians must make it up, I mean, lets be real there was no way that Taylor Swift has been in that many relationships with boys who own pick-up trucks, she seems to have had a relationship that has ended every which way. Thing was though, Millie found that quite difficult; she could act pretty well and she could get you to believe anything when she sang it but when she wasn’t being a character it was a whole different board game. She wouldn’t know where to start when writing a song that didn’t relate to her, it would just be so difficult. That was why she liked being part of a band, it was a collaborative effort and even though Millie was behind most of the music the song ideas came from things that the other girls had been through, they merged their experiences and it meant that they had five times as much life experience to base their music on, plus it made the whole thing more fun when you could share everything with your best friends.
The brunette smiled as the girl said she’d only moved recently and that she missed her, “I missed you too, but this must be fate” she said, it was weird that they had become reunited in a small town in America when they had first met in the hustle and bustle that was London. What a coincidence, that two London girls from a small performing arts academy would end up in a remote town in America going to the same school and being in the same park at the same time, things like that didn’t just happen. Millie really believed in fate and luck, she didn’t blame bad things in her life on it though, just usually the good things. She hated when people made bad decisions and said that things weren’t going right because of fate, because of karma, no, it was because they hadn’t made the correct decisions. She looked down at the money people had thrown at her feet, she hadn’t noticed them doing it otherwise she would have told them to keep it, she really didn’t deserve their money; “I’ll donate it to the day-care, I don’t need it” she decided, there was about $30 which wasn’t much but it would be used better by the day-care than by Millie herself.
She smiled as the blonde sat down next to her and started grilling her with questions. “I’ve been good thank you", she decided to answer each question in order so she wouldn’t get confused. “nope, no boyfriend, there’s a boy but its complicated and I’ve only been here a few weeks” she said loving that she had a girlfriend to talk about it with. That was what she missed, she didn’t have anyone to just gossip with and talk about silly thing, she’d been ringing and skype-ing home but it wasn’t the same thing as a real life conversation. “my parents are good, my mum rings me everyday like clockwork” she said to the girl, Evelyn knew the family quite well and she’d seen the family enough to know that Millie’s mum was pretty protective over her little girl and she was a stickler for routine. “nothing exciting sorry, what about you?” she asked deciding to bounce back all the questions at once to save her some time. Evelyn was more talkative than Millie but Millie wanted to make sure it wasn’t just Ev asking her questions, she wanted to know what Ev had been up too as well.

there were a few artists that evelyn really looked up to, and they weren't usually teen singers who sang about things they probably haven't even been through. she hated when twelve year olds sang about love, because frankly, what twelve year old really knew about love? and she hated when they sang about how much hard things they had gone through in their life. honestly, they were twelve. their life couldn't be that bad. once you got older, around seventeen then she believed that you possibly had some things to write about. she hated when people wrote about things that they had never been through, because then the song was fake to her. everything evelyn had written about was something that she had been through. she promised herself never to write something that wasn't close and personal to her, because that was just no fun.
evelyn smiled and nodded, it really was fate. there was no way to explain how they could have found each other again, in a whole new country. the only explanation was fate. evelyn didn't believe that falling in love was fate, because who you fell in love with was a mix of your emotions, and how the person treated you. but this, was definitely fate. "so, why did you move here anyways," she asked, with a mere smile on her face. looking at the money, she decided that donating it to the daycare was probably a really good idea. evelyn had done a few shows, and usually she kept hal of it, and donated the rest to an animal shelter. evelyn had a strong love for animals, and she hated how people could mistreat them without a care. evelyn really wanted to have a pet, but first she needed to get herself situated.
evelyn listened to her friend answering her questions. laughing a little, she began, "isn't a mom supposed to call all the time? that's their job." taking a sigh, she said, "i like someone, but since i just moved here i told him i only wanted to be friends." the guy that she fancied was named martin, and he was a really sweet guy. the other night evelyn had kissed and held his hand, but she only wanted to be friends with him, friends with benefits. "nothing exciting either, to be honest.. just moved here for a new start, my parents aren't even here. i'm living with my aunt who moved here five years ago," she nodded, looking at her friend.

you heard that i was trouble , but you couldn't resistj u s t t a k e a b i t e l e t m e s h a k e u p y o u r w o r l d- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Millie had been a bit different than most of the students at the performing arts school, they all wanted to become singers, musicians or actors whilst Millie was just biding her time, she wanted to be a teacher, but not even in the performing arts. Her dream was to teach Kindergarten, not something that would require performing arts training. She went to performing arts school because it was better than normal school, it was fun, relaxed and you go a chance to do dance and singing everyday, Millie’s heaven. She had auditioned for fun but when she was accepted there wasn’t a choice in the matter, why would you turn down a school where you got to do fun stuff like acting exercises? People in her class had looked down on her for not wanting the fame and fortune that they all wanted, they wanted to spread their message through music but Millie wasn’t that bothered. It hurt her band at first, they had grown attached to her and they wanted to release albums and go on tours but all Millie wanted to do was train to be a teacher, they didn’t think they could succeed without her, she was the best dancer and in their opinion she was the prettiest, they needed her.
She smiled as the girl asked why she had moved here, Millie felt silly because there wasn’t really a reason, “I wanted a change, sometimes I feel like that school was a bit of a bubble and I just wanted to try something new” she admitted with a light giggle. Many people asked Millie why she wanted to leave England and how she came to choose such a small town but she didn’t really have a reason, she just felt like it was the right thing to do. As I said, Millie was a big believer in fate and due to that sometimes she didn’t bother looking for a reason behind her decisions, she just felt that it was probably leading to something bigger, and maybe the reason she had moved here was to meet someone that was going to change her life, or maybe the reason was something smaller, she didn’t really mind, she just knew that she was enjoying the place so far and although most of the locals complained Millie liked that it was so small. She was born and bred in the hustle bustle of London and it was nice to finally be able to hear her own thoughts. In London even the parks were busy, you couldn’t just stop and think because you’d been in the way of some tourist’s picture, it was a tourist attraction not a place to live.
The brunette smiled and nodded as Evelyn said that a mum was supposed to call all the time, it was pretty much in their job description. She nodded as the girl said that she had her eye on someone but she only wanted to be friends at the moment, “does he go to the highschool?” she asked, being nosey as per usual. Back in England Millie had been the school’s agony aunt, people asked her opinion on everything, and due to that she managed to know pretty much the entire schools secrets. She nodded along with her as she said that she had moved for a new start, pretty much the same as Millie. A thought past through the girls mind and she looked across to the blonde, “well if you ever decide to move out there is a spare room at my place” she said, she’d love to live with her close friend. Millie actually had a three bedroom apartment because her parents couldn’t find a smaller one and they wanted to be able to come visit, she wanted to find two room-mates and Evelyn would be perfect as the first, but of course she didn’t want to steal her from her aunt.

if evelyn never felt emotion in music, she wouldn't be single. she felt that if there was no emotion in your voice, then you might as well be lip syncing. music wasn't about getting popular, or famous. it wasn't about the money. it was all about the feeling. there were times when evelyn went to a concert and she was disappointed, because it seemed like the musician was all about the fame, instead of the real reason behind music. a lot of it made evelyn appreciate the music that people made before she was born, because most of it was not about fame at all, but about life and getting through tough situations. some of evelyn's favorite artists were people who no one really knew about. evelyn really admire that millie went to the performing arts school just because she wanted to, not because she wanted to be a singer. a lot of people there at the school were stuck up and acted like they were the only ones allowed to breathe air. evelyn was never like that. her parents had raised her to be happy with what she had, and never act like someone was better than her.
moving from england to a small town was a big step for evelyn, but once she did it she was pretty happy that she had. it was really peaceful here, and it allowed evelyn time to think and clear her head. when she wanted quiet, she got quiet. it was hard to do that in the crowded streets of england. it was a lot easier for evelyn to write at times, just because she was interrupted constantly by people, and by distractions. her only distraction now was her laptop, which she could always put away and act like it was never there. "i really like it here, well.. at least i've liked it for how long i've been living here." making a huge comparison over england and this small town would be hard, because evelyn hadn't been here long enough to judge the whole town.
evelyn shook her head slightly. "no.. actually he goes to college. he's a few years older than me." evelyn wasn't sure if the age difference between her and martin was a good thing, or if it was going to end in a complete disaster. but at this point evelyn didn't really care. she was young. she was going to get her heart broken. in the end, she'd be fine. "maybe she has some cute friends," she winked over at her friend. evelyn didn't really want to talk about boys when her friend didn't have anyone to talk about. for some people, it bothered them when their friends were talking about relationships. and then mille suggested that evelyn could move in with her, or at least stay with her for awhile, and evelyn brightened up. "i'd love that, actually!" she grinned. evelyn was thinking about getting her own place for awhile, so she wouldn't bother her aunt, but she didn't want to be alone. "and i could help pay for it," she nodded her head, looking at her friend.

you heard that i was trouble , but you couldn't resistj u s t t a k e a b i t e l e t m e s h a k e u p y o u r w o r l d- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -It wasn’t that Millie didn’t love performing arts enough to make a career out of it; it was just that it wasn’t her first love, that was day-care. People found it odd when Millie told them what she wanted to do with her life, it just wasn’t a dream that a young girl tended to have but it was what Millie wanted to do. Ever since she was a teenager she’d grown to love children and looking after them was exactly what she wanted to do. They seemed to love her, she always knew what to do and that was probably helped by working at the day-care at every possible moment. Working with children had its bitter side though, when Millie was twelve she had found out that she was infertile, she would never be able to be children. It had put a huge weight on the young girl’s shoulders and had pushed her even more into working with children, if she couldn’t have her own she might as well have the joy in working with other peoples. Millie knew that there were other options, adoption, surrogacy… but she’d never have a child of her own, one with her brown eyes or mahogany hair.
She nodded as the girl said that she was enjoying it so far, just the way that Millie felt. It was so different to London but it was serene and peaceful which made it the perfect escape. She hadn’t decided where she was going to go but she knew she wanted to get out of England, to try something new and have a chance at a new life. She wanted to prove she could stand on her own two feet, and although she hated to say it, she wanted a chance to live the American dream. The young English brunette wanted to see whether American high-school was all it seemed to be on TV, it seemed the answer to that was no. It was more similar to English school than she expected, bar the fact they called them grades and everyone took far more classes. Of course all schools were different to Millie and Evelyn’s from back home, they’d lived in a bubble, of singing, dancing and acting, once you were sixteen the other subjects no longer applied, you could wave goodbye to Maths, English and French, as long as there were jazz hands and sequins you were free to continue. She’d loved that bubble but she also knew that it would be a shock to be thrown into the real world.
Millie nodded as the girl said that he was a few years older than her, “ooh, get you, a college boy” she said in jest. She knew how gorgeous Evelyn was, she could get a guy just by fluttering her eyelashes, a skill that Millie had yet to acquire. Millie didn’t feel that age differences were a bad thing, well not when the girl was younger anyway, that was fine. Girls matured quicker than boys in Millie’s eyes so as long as the boy was the older of the two that was perfectly fine. “well, hopefully, this ‘complicated’ situation will work itself out” she said referring to the one she had mentioned earlier when she was quizzed about having a boyfriend by the blonde. Her face lit up at Evelyn’s reaction to the offer, “great, we can be house-mates” she said with a big bright smile. Millie wasn’t really struggling to keep up with the rent but the place was pretty empty and she loved the idea of some company.

as a little girl, evelyn had always dreamed of becoming the next big music star, and she thought that it would be easy to do, and that it wouldn't take a lot of hard work. but going into the performing arts school quickly made her change her opinion. there were people who stood outside for twenty four hours, every day of the week playing their music, and they were never noticed. in some ways, evelyn wished that she could just let everyone live their dreams, but then she knew that it wasn't the way the world worked. everything happened for a reason. evelyn knew that if her music didn't go anywhere, then she was going to have to do something else. she couldn't let herself dwell on things that weren't going to be, especially when her calling was out there somewhere. if there was one thing in the world that evelyn didn't like, it was when people dwelt on the past, and didn't bother trying to move on.
so far evelyn's favorite part of moving to this school was probably her technology class. she had met a friend of hers, kayla, and the class was just amusing to her. the teacher had stopped trying to teach the class and mostly they sat there the whole time sitting on facebook or playing games. the problem was that the teacher was old, and the kids knew more about computers than he did. there was times when he tried to teach the class, but he gave up after remarks from immature boys. evelyn couldn't stand some of the boys in that class, they usually talked about the most repulsive things. some of them found it amusing to talk about which site had the best porn, and others talked about how they wanted to bang a girl so badly. all of it made evelyn roll her eyes and shake her head. boys would be boys.
evelyn knew she was a pretty girl, but she was never the type of girl to flaunt it and brag. she was born with her mothers natural beauty, and her fathers personality. evelyn thought that almost every girl was beautiful, unless they smeared themselves in makeup and showed off no beauty whatsoever. "well, high school boys are immature. no matter what grade they're in, they're always immature." her mother had told her that once boys got into college, they then began to grow up. it was very rare for boys to naturally be mature in high school, unless they had gone through a lot of stuff that made them pretty mature. "great!" she laughed. it would be a lot of fun for evelyn to get out of her aunts house and go have some fun with friends.
