Kyra learned once again today just why it is so beneficial to have the only person on your side be a lawyer. Not just a lawyer, but a teacher. The current Business and law teacher at her highscool seemed to be the only man she could trust enough to talk to. Even then, she didn't like being alone with him. It seemed he was always sacrificing things for her and getting her out of trouble. Today had been no exception.
With her fear of men, she had been surprised when another teacher had come up behind her, placing his hand on her shoulder. She was holding a cup of hot coffee and... one scream later and the cup was emptied, the coffee all over said teachers front. He was furious of course, convinced she did it on purpose. It was then Mr. Clark had shown up, and Kyra had backed away. She knew he had handled it, as he had a way with words.
It still didn't lessen the anger. Kyra was angry at herself. Wanting to get away she had skipped school, something she rarely did. She didn't go and hang out with her friends, for she had none. Instead Kyra had sat in a car and lost track of time untill it turned late. She should have been home hours ago, but she didn't really care for once. That thing she was forced to call brother would punish her either way. She had driven off then, and unsure where she was going was surprised to end up at the lake. It was 7:29 when she got there.
Now she sat crouched at the waters edge, and watched the water ripple as the night wind blew across it, and took some of her blond hair in that same direction. Kyra was never sure about her appearance. She was always told she was hideous and ugly by her adopted brother, and that nobody would ever like her because of that. Her parents were never home to ask, always away on business. Her mother was a model and always in Russia, and her father cared more about his senate seat than anything else. Perhaps their fame was why they never believed her when she told them what had happened... they didn't want it to reach the media. She loved her parents despite it all, and that was one of the reasons why she kept quiet. It seemed she would forever be wondering if her brother was right: she was a freak of nature.
There wasn't anything about her she found pretty really. Her hair was blonde and a little past her shoulders, like a whole bunch of other girls. Her eyes were blue, like many other girls. He skin was pretty pale, but had a tan hue to it. She wished it was that pretty caramel color that girls had after tanning so much. As for her weight, she was too thin for her own good. That was what happened when you lived alone with only one abusive person. Often the stress was too much and she would end up throwing it back up anyways. She could use a few more added in for oomph.
There were times when she used to stand in front of the mirror trying to tell if she was pretty, but eventually she gave up. Lately she had decided that is didn't matter what she looked like. She would probably never be able to get over her fear of men long enough to have a relationship.
Kyra looked down and fiddled with the hem of her blue tank top. Despite her parents having more money than she would like to admit, she preferred to shop at target and wall mart. She had gotten this plain shirt and Blue shorts there, and so far they worked well.
With a Sigh Kyra picked up a small rock and tried skipping it across the water, only to fail. It had been worth a shot at least. She picked up another, and failed again. Followed by another and another. Standing up she took her sandals off and waded a little into the water, just so her feet were touching it and getting wet. She continued to try and pick up rocks and toss them, and was having horrible luck. Though it was frustrating her, it was also getting her mind off of any self-hate.
