Nobody ever realises how hard it is to be a twin. To have people constantly compare you to somebody else. To someone who is identical to you and yet your polar opposite. Kayla James realises how hard it is, every single day of her life.
Ever since her and Adelaide were born, Mikayla has always been the more reserved one. It didn’t really matter as kids though, everybody thought the pairing of cheeky and boisterous with quiet and angelic was cute and endearing. Now though, the comparisons are not so kind. Why can’t Kayla be as fun as her sister? As daring? As cool? Constantly perceiving yourself as inferior to your sibling is pretty damaging and as such, Kayla suffers horrifically with confidence issues. None of this of course being helped by the ex-boyfriend who used her insecurities as a weapon to destroy her self esteem whilst screwing any girl who was willing.
All these factors make Kayla a pretty messed up kind of girl. In some ways she is incredibly distrusting and yet in others she is dangerously naive. She can be chatty and confident one minute and quiet and worrisome the next.
With all her issues, Kayla can be a difficult person to get to know, initially coming across as quite shy and withdrawn. Once she does put her trust into you though, you will see a vastly different girl. One who gets way overexcited, talks too quickly and giggles excessively. It just takes a bit of patience to gain that trust in the first place.
Despite her problems, Kayla is an incredibly sweet young lady who wants to see the good in everybody apart from herself. She will always be there for the people she cares about at any time of day or night and just needs them to be there for her too, to cuddle and reassure her and never let her down.[/center][/size]

If you look up the definition of Jack The Lad in the dictionary, you will surely find Dylan’s name right there underneath. Dylan is a cheeky chap with a great love of having fun and meeting women. He’s never had a serious relationship as he’s secretly terrified that he will get dragged away from his carefree lifestyle into a boring and claustrophobic life of romantic gestures and sickly utterings of “I love you”’. Despite this, his heart may be beginning to soften a tad, an idea he is finding a little hard to get used to.
Dylan is the sort of friend you go to when you want to have a good time, rather than one who provides you with a shoulder to cry on. Dylan doesn’t cope well with emotional people and would rather walk away from these situations than deal with the hassle. He’s a pretty laid back sort of chap and doesn’t generally fight or even argue with people, preferring to shrug it off and walk away. Dylan’s been in trouble a few times but he’s not a bad lad, just dabbles in the occasional drug taking and silly drunken pranks.
Dylan would probably have a number of male friends who are also free spirited and up for a laugh and may have a few platonic female friends whom he knows nothing would happen with but he still endlessly flirts with and teases.
The downfall of any man is thinking with their nether regions and this is certainly an issue for Dylan. He goes out simply to pull girls and is happy to just sleep with them and then walk away. With his aforementioned discomfort with dealing with emotions, Dylan is happier keeping relationships with women as strictly sexual. This means he will probably have a lot of ‘conquests’ out there who were either perfectly happy with the one night stand arrangement or feel pretty used by him. Pissed off ladies he’s had his wicked way with are probably the closest things to enemies that Dylan has.
All in all, Dylan is not a bad kid. He would never hurt anybody intentionally but is just disinterested in emotional commitment and love. If he was tamed and somebody made them fall for them though, Dylan would be a pretty reasonable boyfriend. It would be unwise to expect chocolate, flowers and endless romantic nights in from him but he knows deep down how to respect women and make them feel good about themselves and wouldn’t ever cheat if he was in a committed relationship.[/center]

Skye Romany Lewis. Eighteen.
Ever since she reached adolescence, Skye has felt she wasn’t normal. Doctors have described her as mentally ill while peers in schools have simply described her as ‘mad’ or ‘odd’. Skye suffers from rapid cycling bipolar disorder. ‘Suffering’ is not something she uses to describe herself though. Yes, the depression is harrowing but the highs are like no other. It’s for this reason that Skye is unmedicated, refusing to take tablets that will zap her into a lifeless version of her former self. The extremes of mood are indeed exhausting but at least with them she feels. The drugs take away all feeling, leaving you as just a shell, living one pointless day to the next. That sort of life is not one which Skye wishes to consider.
When Skye is on a high, she is on top of the world. She dances, she laughs and she loves. With bipolar though It’s not as simple as just being happy, the highs bring with them manic feelings of restlessness and a dangerous lack of self-control. She takes any illicit substances on offer, throws herself around and has sexual encounters with all manner of boys. She doesn’t sleep when she’s on a high, instead partying through the night and then dancing or painting all day. Skye is extremely artistically talented, her body just seeming to ‘get’ movement, whether that be floating her way through a ballet rehearsal or putting paint to canvas, precisely and carefully.
When Skye is on a low however, she couldn’t be a more different person. Gone is the social butterfly and in it’s place is a girl who is so crippled by depression, she cannot even get out of bed. She sleeps for long periods and struggles to even get up and washed, never mind leave the house or live any sort of normal life. Skye gets incredibly lonely during these times as she lacks any sort of proper support. Her mum is just as troubled as her and she doesn’t really have any proper friends, just people who want to be around during the good times. Most people only see Skye when she flies as high as a kite are are naive to the fact she could be bedbound and suicidal the next day. She will have lots of party buddies, drug buddies and one night stands but very few people who know the real girl and the true extremes of her moods.[/center][/size]

Born into a dysfunctional family in the mean streets of Ireland, Blaine found himself easily drawn to trouble from a young age. From being just a typically headstrong and naughty young boy, Blaine became more and more challenging and defiant as he grew older. By his mid teens he had been expelled from most schools in the area, tried pretty much every drug he could get hold of and had been in the back of a police car more times than he cared to remember. Having pushed his luck one time too many, Blaine was eventually sent to jail for two years at the age of 19, a sentence he has only just finished.
But there is one thing which not many people know. In fact which only two people in the world know- the crime which got Blaine sent to jail was not one which he committed himself. See, every step Blaine took in the downward spiral of his life, his younger brother followed him. Everything he did, Oz wanted to copy or better and his brother’s life soon went just as far off the rails as Blaine’s had. It was this guilt, the overwhelming feeling that he had ruined Oz’s life as well as his own, which made Blaine take the blame that day. He hoped that just maybe this would be a chance for him to clean himself up and for Oz to lose the bad influence and get his own life back on track. Things didn’t however work out that way and whilst Blaine has come out of prison having turned over a new leaf, Oz is even worse than he ever was. That’s why they ended up here in Lipton- a last ditch attempt to sort Oz out and stop him too ending up inside.
Despite his past, Blaine is not a completely bad individual. He initially comes across as quite tough, sarcastic and disintegrated but underneath the shell is a caring man who is fiercely protective of those whom he loves, it just may take a bit of time to get through that shell.

Kalim Aaron Ross. Seventeen
Born in New York to an American father and Pakistani mother, Kalim has recently moved to Lipton in his mother’s hopes that a small town would provide less distractions than a vibrant city in turning Kalim into the perfect Muslim son. Kalim however has little religious interest- preferring to believe in tolerance and love rather than the words of any ancient book, a fact which constantly causes friction between him and his mother.
Kalim is known as Kal by his friends and is a friendly, cheery and cheeky young man who just sees himself as one of the lads. He’s not a troublesome character but goes against the wishes of his parents by drinking, getting involved with girls and generally enjoying the carefree teenage lifestyle. Although his parents and friends were aware he had a girlfriend, few knew about the fact that she pregnant when she died. The circumstances surrounding her death are hugely troubling for Kalim and continue to haunt him. To anyone who doesn’t already know what happened, Kalim hides the fact his girlfriend committed suicide. Even those who do know that she killed herself do not know the truth about what pushed her over the edge. Kalim is guilt ridden and though he puts on a brave face, doesn’t go a day without thinking about Georgia, their unborn child and what could have been if he hadn’t have messed up.
Despite events seeming to suggest otherwise, Kalim is actually a sweetheart and a total gentleman. He tries his best to be a good guy and would never intentionally hurt somebody, a fact which made telling his girlfriend he had fallen out of love hugely difficult and her resulting reaction even more heartbreaking. Kalim is still totally crushed over everything and terrified of history repeating itself and so is only very slowly coming around to the idea of love again. Kalim is a good guy battling through tragic circumstances and is in need of friends and possibly flings to integrate him into Lipton life.

Ethan Grey Thomas. Twenty
Cocky and confident, Ethan Thomas is gorgeous and he damn well knows it. Believing that being beautiful gives you more leeway in life, Ethan thinks that his good looks grant him the freedom to misbehave and mess people around whilst still having the world look up to him. Ethan is also spoilt and has an attitude of entitlement from being brought up to believe he deserves the best in life, no questions asked. His parents gave him whatever he wanted growing up and this has transferred into his adult life as having to have the best of everything; the fastest cars, the smartest clothes and the hottest girls.
Being spoilt, Ethan doesn’t react well to being told ‘no’ and it was this attitude which led to the events surrounding Ethan’s dark secret. Having had his ego severely knocked by being dumped by his girlfriend, Ethan decided to exact his revenge by destroying her home and possessions. Ethan believed that his ex was on holiday when he lit the fire but upon realising she was in fact still at home, went back into the house to carry her out. Ethan, after all, could quite clearly distinguish between arson and murder. Nobody ever suspected Ethan of having any part in the fire and he was celebrated as a hero for safely rescuing the girl from the flames. The secret still eats away at him and the ‘what ifs’ haunt him everyday. What if he hadn’t reached her in time? What if the police find out it was him? It was a stupid idea which got crazily out of hand and Ethan knows he will never be able to let go or forget the events of that day.
As a friend, Ethan is one of the lads. He enjoys drinking and partying and generally staying up late having fun. As a boyfriend, Ethan is in all honesty a bit rubbish. He enjoys hooking up with girls and one night stands but his lack of commitment and inability to stick at things generally lead to very short lived relationships. Having always got what he wants in life, Ethan really needs somebody ballsy enough to stand up to him and bring him down a peg or two. As he gets older, Ethan is starting to realise a little more that he can be selfish and self-absorbed but still needs somebody to point out fully just how much his attitude stinks.[/center]
