Being locked up in a house all day was never Matty's idea of fun. He liked being outside, doing something exciting. So that day, instead of staying inside, he decided to go out to the lake. He got ready as quickly as he could, pulling on a t- shirts and jeans, and grabbing a sweatshirt just in case anywhere was there. He didn't need anyone seeing his wrists. They were cut and scarred, and the cuts were certainly no accident. But Matty didn't want to be bothered with answering questions about what happened. Very few people ever saw his wrists anyway. He had gotten good at hiding them. And when people did see them, he was good at making up excuses.
Deciding at the last minute to slip on the sweatshirt before he left, he quickly put it on, and slid on his Converse before stepping outside. Not legally having his driver's liscense yet, and not feeling like asking one of his siblings for a ride, he figured he'd just walk. So he did. Walking down the road from his house, he started humming some random song under his breathe, not really thinking about it. Getting to the lake a few minutes later, he sat down near the shore and sighed gently. Not many people were there that he could see, but it was pretty warm out to him. Not thinking much about it, since he figured no one was there, he rolled up the sleeves of the sweatshirt he was wearing, glancing down at his wrists quickly for a moment before looking back out over the lake. He wondered if anyone would come over, if anyone else was even here right now.

Natalia always loved the outdoors. There was just something about being outside that seemed to relax her. The idea of not having to worry about what others thought or if they liked you was one that appealed to Natalia. She had always spent so much time worrying about being accepted. She just felt like no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't fit in with anyone. She didn't know what it was, it just always felt like her 'friends' would turn around and ditch her in a heartbeat. And that bothered Talia. So, ever since their move to Lipton years ago, she had taken to outdoors. Namely, to the local lake. It was such a pretty sight. It was very relaxing and Talia liked that. Plus, it was a good place to think.
She made it a point to stop at the Lake nearly everyday after her music lessons. Today, she had finished her oboe lesson just moments before. Her oboe teacher lived practically next door to the lake, so Talia had a very short walk to it. Her mother just assumed that her lessons always ran over. Talia never told her any different. If her mother knew that she were here, she was sure that the woman would just send her brother out to check on her. Talia loved her to death, but sometimes she just needed space. That was something that her mom just didn't seem quite ready to give her. It was as if she didn't want her little girl to grow up. Which, Talia tried to understand. That was why she left her mother to think that she was still at her lessons. She was capable of walking the five blocks to her house from here. She was fifteen... perfectly old enough to be an independant young lady.
Talia was so busy considering this as she wandered down the lake shore, that she didn't even notice the boy who was sitting up ahead. She started to kick off her flipflops, only noticing the boy as her light purple shoe flew toward him. Gasping, the girl quickly picked up her remaining flip flop and put it under her arm that carried her oboe case. She jogged the few steps between them, an embarassed blush creeping to her cheeks. "Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry! Are you alright?" Natalia blushed feeling awful as she reached for her shoe. How stupid was she? She didn't even normally wear flip flops. 'stupid shoes,' the girl frowned, looking down at the boy. Well, this was a great first impression.
[ it's all good; your post was fine. i hope you don't mind me jumping in with talia. (: ]

After a few minutes of sitting there, Matty almost figured no one was ever going to walk by. But suddenly, he felt something hit him. Not expecting it at all, he couldn't help but jump. He turned around quickly, just to see a girl coming towards him. Hearing her apologize, he laughed softly and shook his head, a slightly grin spreading across his face. He stood up after a moment, shrugging quickly. "Don't worry about it. I'm completely fine." he said.
Laughing lightly again, Matty nodded, almost as if to affirm what he just said, and grinned again. "I'm Matty, by the way." he told her quickly. Completely forgetting about his wrists for a moment, he held out his hand for her to shake. Honestly, he was pretty happy that someone had come along to save him from dying of boredom. Looking down at the ground for a moment before glancing back up at her, he bit down on his lip lightly. "You wanna sit?" he asked, thinking it was more comfortable than standing. Even though he wasn't even sure whether she could stay or not right now.
( Sorry for the short post, my muse is kinda failing right now. )

Natalia quickly picked up her other flip flop, sliding it under her arm with the other one. She buried her toes under the sand, wishing that she hadn't just embarrassed herself. Yes, she was easily embarrassed. Yes, she did worry to much. But, that was just Talia. She smiled lightly, somewhat of relief as the boy stated that he was fine. He laughed, grinning at her, which only calmed the girls worries more. At least he seemed friendly. She didn't cope well with people yelling at her. Even though it was only a flip flop, she was sure that some teenagers would have flipped. She was relieved that he didn't seem to be one of them.
He laughed and stood up and Natalia shifted lightly. He didn't seem familiar, but he looked to be around her age. Probably a year or two older. "Talia. It's nice to meet you, Matty," The teen smiled, looking down as he held out his hand. She shook it softly, only then noticing his wrists. There were many small cuts on them, and the girl's smile shifted to a small, slightly concerned, frown. "Are you alright?" She knew it was none of her business as to what happened, but she couldn't help but to ask. She genuinely worried about people.
But, nonetheless, a few seconds later the boy invited her to sit. She felt compelled to answer this, even if she had been concerned. Natalia's smile returned, a nod soon accompanying it. Company was always something that Natalia refused to turn down. She craved being around people - being accepted. "Sure." She agreed, sliding down into the sand that surrounded the lake. She placed her oboe case and her flip-flops down beside her, only then looking out to the lake. "I love coming here. It's so peaceful."
