Disaster Button - Snow Patrol
Friends
Cool your beans my son
You look a f***ing mess
No ones getting out of here tonight
Hit that button there
The one that just says wrong
We'll lose our minds to all our favourite songs
Enemies
Throw forward to later
you look light on your feet
When you whirled in the room
I was nailed to my seat
I'm like a prisoner
getting ready to talk
I feel the blood in my hands
and the threat in your walk
Romances
And suddenly
it lifts the roof off the place
It puts a vault in my step
And a grin on my face
It can't contain me
but you'll need an army
To get me back in my box
Or snap the branches off me
Family
A little after four
The function suite is dead
And I am just a ripped up ticket stub
But heres a helping hand
A voice that's far to close
And I am up and on my broken limbs
A little after twelve
The function suite was full
Of people I had never seen before
Ripped up ticket stubs
Confettied on the floor
It dawned on me I'd seen it all before
The function suite was full
Of people I had never seen before
Ripped up ticket stubs
Confettied on the floor
It dawned on me I'd seen it all before
Once upon a time, there was a little princess named Camilla. She reigned over a kingdom made up of a little brother and sister. Like in most fairy tales, one day the queen got sick and went far away to the place in the sky. But after that, there was no wicked step-mother to overcome, no prince charming to make things okay.
Cami had to do the one thing she never really intended; she grew up. While her mother's health declined, she had just enough time to taste teen life with parties, boys, and wild fun. Then quite suddenly she found herself the head of the house with no time for such frivolity. Her father exists in a state of alcohol-dulled grief. After years of exceptional grades, she made it through high school by the skin of her teeth. And college? She simply doesn't have the time or the energy. The bills are paid - barely - by her long hours at the diner and cinema. She tries to save face by saying her dad works at home online and pretending she is saving for college.
In reality, all she wants to do is run. She feels a sick shame when she catches herself fantasizing about it, but Camilla has put so much energy into caring for her family, she feels as though she's about to burn out and lose the ability to care. What she really needs is a chance to be selfish for once.
