The mall. Glittering lights and signs just flashy enough to distract from the building wide coating of day-to-day grime beckoned passersby to some in and get a look at their fabulous sales and clearance merchandise. While supplies last, hurry! Of course, 90% of the sales items would be there tomorrow and the sale would probably go on for a month, but that wasn't the point. Cami had once adored the place, had felt an almost magnetic attraction to it as all the oh so hip bits and bobs called to her teenage sensibilities.
These days, it just felt like being inside a pillowcase full of rattlesnakes. The constant thrum of unintelligible conversations buzzed around her head and settled on her skin. it was almost enough to make her forget the inherent danger she was in. For someone with a mortgage, three dependents, and no help, it would be far too easy to throw off the delicate budget she had going. So why would she take the risk? Simple. Camilla had ripped her last decent pair of black slacks she had to wear for her job at Movies 10. Last night, she had gotten caught on a queuing pole while cleaning up and now has no choice but to try and find another pair before her next shift. She hitched her purse up onto her shoulder, sighed, and started scoping out display windows.
