Jackie shut the lid to her laptop with a small grin on her face. She had managed to find herself something to do on this Saturday afternoon. The boy face from his picture looked familiar… maybe. She couldn’t be certain on that fact. He looked older. And she didn’t have a name to put with the face. Hell she might not have known him at all. But she would. If he wasn’t all talk he’d be at the docks in ten minutes. Jackie slipped on her flip flops and sunglasses. "I'm leaving," she shouted and slammed the door behind her. Just one of the things that annoyed her parents. She got in her lovely little green neon and headed to the lake.
The drive to the lake was short but lovely. She drove with her windows down, sunroof open and her favorite mixed CD roaring through the speakers. Her long, straightened hair blowing in the wind. It was perfect driving weather. Jackie could drive around for hours just to keep herself away from the house. Anything to get away from her parents and perfect little sister. So many times she thought about just getting in her car and just driving away. But she never really figured out what stopped her.
She parked her car and glanced around for a moment. It seemed she arrived first. ‘Maybe he is all talk,’ she mused. As the song finished, she rolled up her windows and turned off the ignition. Jackie walked the small stone path from the parking lot to the docks. Her parents’ boat was down here. The boat they never used. It got used more often by Jackie than anyone else. She spent drunken night there instead of going home. God forbid she wakes her dear sister up in the middle of the night.
She stepped onto the wooden dock her parents boat was tied to. The docks and the lake were her favorite go to spot when it came to getting away from her house. Jackie couldn’t stand being in the house for long periods. It put her on edge; made her itch to go out and cause some kind of trouble. But it seemed today that this strange fixed that problem. She leaned her elbows on the wooden railing and peered out at the glittering water waiting to see if this stranger would show up.

Colton sat at the desk in his office for a moment, unsure of what exactly had just happened. He didn't even know how old she was. Hell, if she was underage, he would feel...awkward. He sat up and walked out of the confined room and looked around his small two bedroom apartment. His dog, Wonton, was lounging on the couch, dreaming whatever dogs dreamed about. Colton arched a brow and went into his room, coming back out with his keys, wallet, sandals and a leash. "Come on, Wonton." The terrier snorted and looked up at his owner, a soft whine passing through his maw. "Let's go," he repeated as he touched the doorknob. The pooch immediately jumped off the leather throne and over to the man, his stubby tail wagging. Colton slipped on his leash, cursing to himself when his companion proved to be a little too excited about their adventure. It was some kind of habit of Wonton's. He was always too lazy to move unless he was certain a walk was inevitable. The two loped down the sidewalk and stopped in front of a '67 black impala. He did a once-over of his baby (as he often found himself calling it) before opening the driver's side, first letting Wonton in, then himself. He checked himself in the mirror before starting the engine and putting it in reverse.
Would she even be there? What if she was a dude? God, what had he done? Colton wasn't too fond of setting himself up on blind dates, even though her picture was a female, and she was pretty hot, she (or he) could have easily gotten images off of google. It was all in the name of boredom. He came to that conclusion as he pulled into the crammed parking lot and found a spot not too far from the sand. His baby blues scanned the docks, searching for the brunette - ah, there she was. Maybe. Colton pulled the keys out of the ignition and got out of his baby, reluctance hinted in his steps as he took a few paces away from the car. Wonton tugged on his leash, huffing and puffing. That was his way of saying "dammit, let's go!" He paid no mind to his canine companion, though. He dug the pack of cigarettes out of his pocket and lit one up. While he did so his gaze never deviated from the girl. In fact, it intensified as if he were trying to recognize her facials.
After he was done with his cancer-stick, Colton crushed it with the sole of his sandal before he walked off, heading straight towards the dock. "Eh, at least she isn't a man,". he reassured himself. Wonton had calmed down now, taking intense interest in the ground and it's many scents. When he figured he was at least in earshot he spoke.
"Hey!"

The longer she stood there looking at the water’s surface the more she thought about the situation she put herself in. It was kind of odd, to be honest. Jackie had a tendency to do things on whim. If she thought about doing something to long, the chance to actually do it could be gone. She usually found herself thinking about it after stopping would be pointless or she was already knee deep in trouble. Either of which were usually fine with her. But as odd as the situation seemed, she found it kind of amusing. This was defiantly something she hadn’t tried to pull before. But that was Jackie, always up for anything.
People passed her on the dock. Sometimes they whispered. Maybe about her or maybe not, she felt like they were. Almost everyone knew the oldest Orians girl. The one that constantly caused trouble all through town. The one who happened to ride in police cars about as much as an actual police did. Yep, that was Jackie. Not that she cared if everybody knew. The rest of her family hated the whispers and snide remarks but it made no difference to her what any of body in this town said.
She ran a hand through her hair pushing it away from her face. Just when she was starting to feel it was silly to be here waiting for someone she didn’t know, she heard a voice call out. Her dark brown eyes flicked to the path she had just come from and her lips formed a sweet smile. There was boy with the face she couldn’t place. He actually showed up. ‘And he actually showed up,’ she thought briefly before leaving her spot on the dock and walking toward him and his dog. Jackie loved dogs, so the boy managed to earn bonus points right away.
As she approached him, the fact that he looked familiar was bothering her. There was no way they had formally met. Jackie wouldn’t have forgotten his name. He defiantly was good looking and probably a little older than her, not that had made a difference to her before. She stopped in front of him concluding that she had seen him at some party and left it alone. “Hey! Cute dog,” she said as leaned down petting the dog. “Well I guess you’re not all talk,” she gave a small grin, “I’m Jackie, by the way.”

Colton grinned and reached down to pet the crown of his dog's head. "Yeah, but shh. I think his ego is big enough." He straightened up his posture and listened to the girl as she introduced herself. "What, you didn't think I'd show up?Oh, and I'm Colton." He ended his sentence with a soft chuckle and a motion that widened his grin, but not by much. Hmm. Jackie. Didn't sound familiar, nor did she look all that familiar, but he got a feeling of deja vu. He had sworn he had seen her before...but at the same time he didn't. Ah, hell. Whatever. He'd figure it out soon enough, anyways. Colton jingled the keys that still hung from his fingers and looked around the premises while he thought of what they could do now that they were here. He mentally shrugged his shoulders and walked over to a bench on the dock. Wonton sat between his feet and watched all the people passing by them, some with dogs, and most with smaller children. Colton stroked his ears while looking at the girl. Well damn. He hooked up with her in the first place just so he wouldn't be bored, but there was nothing to do. Not till tonight, anyways, which is when him and one of his friends was gonna have a bonfire. Hm, maybe she could tag along. He'd have to see how she acted around him first.
"So, now that we're here, what do you wanna do?"

A dog with an ego. The boy was funny. Jackie gave the dog one last pat on the head and straightened her posture. She shrugged slightly with a smile. “You never know. People can say a lot of things while sitting at a computer. It’s usually the doing they have a hard time with.” His name was Colton. The name didn’t turn any lights on in her head. And he didn’t seem to know her at all either. Apparently it wasn’t really important. Maybe her mind was making things up again and he just looked like someone she might have seen. “Nice to meet you, Colton.”
He moved past her and sat down on a bench. She moved out of the way of people walking by and stood in front of him. What were they suppose to do now? Just stand (or sit) there and stand at each other? “So what’s your dog’s name?” Oh good lord. This was going to get boring fast and Jackie didn’t do boring very well. She pushed the hair away from her face and scanned the docks. People she knew and people that knew her. People getting ready to go out on the lake or the day and others just unloading boats to go to the beach.
Her eyes went back to Colton on the bench. They weren’t dressed for swimming, so that was out of the question. And a walk on the bench was kind of cheesy in her opinion. That left them really one option. An option she didn’t really have. A big grin appeared on her lips. “My parents have a boat. Wanna take it out?” she asked point down the dock. They had forbidden her to take it out when she was sixteen. And they were stupid if they thought she hadn’t made a duplicate key. She held the keys up by the green lanyard they were attached to. “I’ll even let you drive.” Sometime in the boat was just what Jackie needed.

"His name is Wonton."
He stood up again and looked down at Jackie as she mentioned what they could do. Well, he guessed he wasn't the only one that felt entirely bored. Her slight bribery ("I'll even let you drive.") made Colton grin, and all he could do was stare down at her, his baby-blues deviating from her soft facials to the curly tendrils that framed them. His smile remained on his face until Wonton lifted his head from his paws and began growling at another dog that passed by. The boy looked down at his companion and tugged on his leash, but that was to no avail; whatever that mutt that passed by did had obviously irritated his terrier. Colton whistled and bent down, placing him between the intimidating great dane. He cupped the pooch's head with his large hands and looked straight into the big, doe-eyes of his pet. Sure, the stare-down would be intimidating to most, but not when Colton did it. His cerulean eyes held a calmness that washed away any kind of aggravation. It was impossible to feel awkward or alarmed when looking him straight-on. It was like an ocean of blue intertwined with two waves of silver lining his pupil, then towards the edges, uncertain darkness that loomed just like dark, ominous clouds before a tempest.
With a soft whine that ended in a snort, Wonton drooped back down to the ground and covered his paws with his head. He sighed and averted his attention to the girl, curious about the new company. Colton straightened up and brushed off the back of his pants, acting as if he had simply tied his shoe. He looked at Jackie again and fingered his raven curls. Damn, it probably would have been a good idea to straighten his hair.
"Sounds good. I'll follow you."
He stepped back and sprawled his arms out in front of him and bowed slightly, motioning her in front of him and towards her parents boat. He gulped and mentally sorted out all of the small details he'd have to figure out before he decided whether or not he liked her. She definitely had the hot part down, that was for sure, and he didn't exactly have a taste for brown-haired gals.

She looked back at him with a small, daring grin on her lips. Her attention went to the growling Wonton. Colton’s attempt to shush him failed. When the boy turned away from her, she looked at the Great Dane’s owner with a raise eyebrow. He quickly continued on his way pulling his excessive large pet behind him. Jackie’s eyes went back to Colton and his pup to see the quiet exchange between them. There was a moment of awe on her face before the dark haired boy turned back to her. “Huh,” she said under her breath. It was incredible how well they understood each other.
She smiled when he looked back at her, happy that he agreed to go on the boat. Though there weren’t many other options. “Great. Let’s go,” her voice was laced with enthusiasm. She led him down to the end of the dock to the very last boat. It was the premiere spot according to her dad. “This is it,” she said stopping in front of the 27 foot grey and white boat with the words “Orion’s Escape” painted on the side Jackie stepped carefully on the back and pushed open the little gate to the rest of the boat. If she had a second home this would probably as close as she would get.
“Come on, I’ll show you the cabin before we take off,” she smiling and gestured to the small door by the steering wheel. With the door unlocked and popped open, she stepped down into the small cabin. The area where a table normally sat was turned into a large bed with a pillow and blanket lying about messily. Jackie folded the blanket as Colton stepped down into the cabin. “And this is the cabin. It has two beds, a bathroom, a place to store and make food and all the nifty things in life. It’s like a little house,” she said with a smile. She stacked the pillow and blanket and looked at Colton. “And I sleep here sometimes,” she explained shrugging.
“Ready to get this out on the water?”
