All in all, Josh had not had a good first day in his new job as a geography teacher at Lipton High. He’d been very nervous beforehand. There had been nights when he’d hardly slept because his mind had been coming up with worst case scenarios for his new job. Some of those had been all his students being difficult and uncooperative, or getting lost in the school and turning up late to his first class. Never had it entered his mind that it could be worse than that. It turned out that the worst thing that could happen was watching the students file in and realise that you recognised one of them. That wasn’t the worst part either. No, the worst part was realising that the girl that you recognised, you had met in a bar a few weeks prior. And that slightly drunk you had been flirting with said girl and ended up sleeping with her. Doing that and then watching the same person sit down in your class was the worst possible scenario ever.
How had this happened? She had been in a bar, drinking. Surely it was a logical assumption to make that she was at least twenty one. OK, that was still considerably younger than Josh, who was twenty six but at least it was legal. But sleeping with a high schooler? That was going to end badly if anybody ever found out. It’s definitely a way to earn yourself a one way ticket to unemployment and the local prison. Given the scale of what he had done, Josh had struggled to keep it together. He’d had to though; otherwise the rest of the class would have definitely gotten suspicious. Through some miracle he managed to get through the class and breathed a sigh of relief as the bell rang. “Miss Myers, can you stay behind please?” It was risky, keeping her back when she’d done nothing to warrant it but he had to speak to her. Let her know that it was a mistake and that it had to be forgotten about. As the last student left the room, the door shutting behind them, he turned to Mackenzie. “I don’t want to know why you were in that bar, but I want to get something straight. Had I known you were a student, I would never have…allowed what happened to have happened. I apologise and I think it would be best for both of us if we just pretended that this had never happened.” He couldn’t look her in the eye, instead turning away, trying to make it clear to her that he was regretting what had happened. To be honest, he was terribly ashamed of himself. He really should have been a bit more careful.

This wasn't how things were suppose to work. She wasn't ever suppose to see him again so he could find out she shouldn't have even been in the bar in the first place. And he sure as hell wasn't suppose to be the new teacher. No, no, no. Maybe this was just a bad dream or something. She'd wake up any second now and have to get ready to come to this class and the new teacher wouldn't be the guy from the bar.
Throughout class she kept looking at him, trying to catch a glance just so she could try and figure out what he was thinking. She knew he recognized her. He looked... worried or something like that. Mackenzie couldn't quite think of the word. Finally, the bell rang and of course, he would ask her to stay after class. She was hoping she could just grab all her books and go to her next class. That way, she'd have all day to think of what she could say to him then come back tomorrow and they could talk about this.
The door shut. Mackenzie had been looking through her purse while everyone left. Now, she had to turn and face her teacher. She opened her mouth to speak but he beat her to it. “I don’t want to know why you were in that bar, but I want to get something straight. Had I known you were a student, I would never have…allowed what happened to have happened. I apologise and I think it would be best for both of us if we just pretended that this had never happened.” Okay. That wasn't that bad. And the weird thing about it was, now that they were talking, she didn't feel so bad about him being her teacher or anything. She didn't think it was that big of a deal, as long as no one ever found out of course.
"Josh, oops, I mean Mr. Evans, I'm sorry, but honestly, I don't think it's that big of a deal. Age is just a number. And I mean, as long as you wouldn't have told that I was in a bar at 17, and I surely wouldn't have told anyone I slept with you, I would've still done it. People sleep with each other all the time!" After she finished speaking she realized she probably should've just been like okay, I'm sorry, it never happened, but hell, he was cute, and the fact that she couldn't have him just made it seem kind of fun to keep this going.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

How could this have happened? Josh was despairing as he watched Mackenzie. He could not have had a worse start to the job. Maybe he’d set a new record, for the least time spent in a job before being fired. Because that was a serious possibility, if anyone ever found out about the situation. He leant back against the desk and ran a hand down his face as he watched for the girl’s reaction to his apology. He had expected her to be like he was, embarrassed, ashamed and all of that. But she didn’t seem to be any of those things. As she spoke to him, the disbelief on his face grew obvious. Was she not sorry about this? After all, what they had done, unknowingly albeit could have serious consequences, moreso for Josh than for Mackenzie but still.
“You don’t think it’s a big deal? Well, I beg to differ. If anyone, anyone at all finds out about this I could lose my job. Hell, I could go to jail. I mean you’re what, sixteen, seventeen? I’m twenty six. According to the law, I’ve committed a crime. I’d say that’s a pretty big deal.” He couldn’t imagine how anyone could fail to see the enormity of the mistake he’d made. As far as screw-ups went, this was a pretty big one. “And I agree with you. People do sleep with each other all the time. But when there is a nine or ten year age difference, that’s when it becomes a problem.” Feeling himself start to get angry, Josh took a deep breath and looked Mackenzie in the eye. “As long as you don’t tell anyone, and I certainly won’t, then I think we can just move on from this and nobody will ever be any the wiser. Agreed?”

She kind of felt bad for making it hard on him. Hell, this would be overwhelming to her too, especially since it was his first day of teaching here. She wouldn't be surprised if he decided to quit and go to some other school where he hadn't slept with a student. Mackenzie would probably feel like crap if that happened.
She listened to him talk. All she could think about was how he was being so... Mackenzie couldn't quite put her finger on the word she was looking for. She just looked at him while he talked and finally, he looked her in the eye. “As long as you don’t tell anyone, and I certainly won’t, then I think we can just move on from this and nobody will ever be any the wiser. Agreed?" Mackenzie could read her teacher like a book, she should just stop making it hard on, atleast today. He was getting mad and the last thing she needed was him to start yelling at her or something.
She decided to let it go for today. Mackenzie liked to push people to get her way, but Mr. Evan's has gone through a lot today already. No need to making it any worse. She'd slowly work him to thinking like her. One day he'd be saying it was no big deal. "But no one's going to find out so no need to get your panties in a wad. The cops aren't going to show up and arrest you any time soon, pinky promise. If that's what you want though, then all's forgotten."- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
