Kaci ran her hand threw her long, dark hair. There was absolutely nothing to do today. So, she decided she'd go eat in town. They always had decent food. Plus, why not stuff her boredom with food? Grabbing her keys off of her dresser, she hurried down the stairs and out the door, ignoring her step mom's calls of where are you going?
Stupid skank. she thought to herself as she opened up her car's door. She stuck the key in the icnignition of her 2008 convertible Benz and headed towards the town. In 10 minutes she was there and parked outside a little sushi bar, oh how she loved sushi.
The little Chinese, or Japenese girl, asked her how many. "One." She nodded her head and took her to the bar where they sat all the people who came in here by themselves. She was typically sat here. The little lady handed her a menu and walked away to get her a water. She already knew what she wanted, but she still looked over the menu. Taking the little pencil they gave you she put a check mark by Crawfish Rolls and Dynamite Rolls.
The lady came back and took her menu and sat down her water. The only weird thing about this sushi bar is that they didn't serve anything but water. God knows why though. She looked around the sushi bar, of course she'd be the only one sitting alone. Oh well, she was use to being an "awkward turtle."

Sushi. It had always been one of her favorite foods. It was only on a rare occasion that the girl got to eat it, however. It seemed that none of the other Garcia's liked the fish-y food. So, it was only on the rare occasion that her mom went to the cute Chinese restaurant next door, that Natalia got to stop here. Fortunately, today was one of those days.
Her stomach growled slightly at the thought of lunch. She and her mother had been in town for most of the morning shopping. Though Talia normally enjoyed shopping, today she hadn't been so pleased. Her mother was only interested in buying one outfit for each of them: something to wear to her cousin's wedding. Did she even know her cousin? Not really. But her mother was certain that they both needed the perfect dress to wear. So, fifty dresses or more later, they still hadn't found the right one. Which, was why they had stopped to eat. Natalia's mother had actually trusted her to go into the Japanese restaurant on her own now, while she went to eat Chinese. It was nice; it made Talia feel more mature, more grown up.
Well, somewhat. She felt like somewhat of a loser as she walked into the place by herself. It was better than being seen with her mother, though. "One." She told the lady that was working, and she was promptly lead to the bar. The lady pointed to an empty stool next to another girl. They were the only two at the bar. Well, at least she wasn't a loser all by herself.
Sitting on the stool, she took the menu and skimmed it over. She ordered the same thing every time she came here, but she still liked to look over the menu. After a few seconds of that, Talia looked up. Her brown eyes skimmed down the bar quickly, only then recognizing the girl sitting next to her. "Kaci! Hi," Grinning brightly, Talia turned to the girl. A good friend of her's. They'd met a while back and had just clicked. Talia was happy to see her. At least now she wouldn't have to eat alone. It looked like her friend hadn't been here too long.

She took a sip of her water. The only thing that absolutely sucked out eating out was the wait. On good days they got her food out to her fast. Hopefully today would be one of those days. As she sat there she felt her phone vibrate in her back pocket. She pulled it out and looked at who it was from. Her dad. It was probably him complaining about her being a brat towards her step-mom. Kaci didn't even bother to read the message.
As she sat there she played Angry Birds, passing time. She wasn't really trying. Just shooting the little triangle shaped bird here and there. She heard someone come sit beside her. She thought about looking at them but they were probably looking at her. She hated making eye contact with people when they were looking at her. It just made things super awkward. But turns out, whoever it was, they knew her.
'Kaci! Hi!' She looked at the girl who had said that and recognized Talia, the girl she had befriended because her step-mom hated her mom. Well, that was the only reason she had tried to be friends with her. They had instantly clicked so even if Kaci's step-mom loved her mom, she'd still be friends with this girl. "Talia! Eating sushi alone too?" Kaci had never expected Talia to be someone who's alone when they went to eat. The girl was so friendly and happy, who wouldn't want to be around her?

The waitress returned, setting down a water in front of Talia. The teen smiled at her, mumbling a soft 'thank you.' Even though they only served water here, Natalia really didn't mind. She always ordered water, anyhow. It was the healthier choice, and it went better with Sushi then most other drinks did. How weird would it be to drink something like coffee or milk with Sushi? The thought grossed Natalia out itself. Sushi did not go well with anything but water.
At Kaci's question, Talia smiled sheepishly. "Yes! My mom hates this place. She says the idea of eating 'raw fish' grosses her out. So, she went next door and let me come here." She explained cheerfully. She put air quotes around the words 'raw fish.' That was exactly what her mother referred to Sushi as. Her mother hated all things fish and sea food related. Which, was strange since Talia loved them. "But, I guess I'm not alone anymore!"
A happy grin appeared on her face as she picked up her drink. She took a small sip of water and set it back down. It was odd; even though she had been shopping all day with her mother, she really wasn't all that thirsty. Just hungry. She crossed her legs, turning to her friend and smiling once more. "What brings you here alone?" She was curious. Though, she assumed it had to do with her step-mother. Natalia knew that her friend had a strong dislike for her step-mother. And, apparently, so did Talia's mother, too. Something about high school rivals or something. Her mom was rather hesitant when Talia mentioned that she and Kaci were friends... but, after meeting Kaci, her mom was more than pleased. She loved the girl. And Talia was glad, because Kaci was one of her best friends. It would be hard to have a best friend that your mother couldn't stand... right?
Talia considered this, waiting on her friend to reply as she picked back up her water and shifted it between her hands. The teen never could just sit still. She had to fidget or do something. It was just in her nature, she supposed.

Kaci watched the little Japanese girl walk her way with a plate. Hopefully it was her food. If it was then it looked like it was one of their quick days. Lucky for Kaci's stomach, it was her sushi. As her friend spoke, the waitress sat her plate down. 'What brings you here alone?'
Kaci picked up her chopsticks and picked up one of her Dynamite Rolls. "I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I don't know if my step-mother likes sushi, then again I don't really care to know, but I know the rest of my family doesn't. I love it. There was absolutely nothing else to do today so I came to stuff my boredom with food. I just didn't want to sit around all day at the house with her." She put the sushi roll in her mouth. Kaci always talked about her mother to Talia. Hopefully she didn't bug her friend with it, but she was the only one who kind of got it. No one in her family did and everyone else, well, they just wouldn't get it.
She watched Talia fidget around a little bit. Kaci had noticed that about her a while back. When she was little, Kaci had been like that too, but she grew out of it. Nothing wrong with it of course. Kaci picked up another sushi roll and stuck it in her mouth. She swallowed it and took a sip of her water. "Honestly, I don't even get how people can't like sushi. It's so good." TAG?! talia. A waitress came and set down Kaci's food. Talia smiled and shifted her water glass by to the counter. It didn't seem like Kaci had been here too much before her, and that would mean that her food would soon be on the way, too. She was happy that it was one of their quicker days. Even though she was in no hurry to get back to dress shopping with her mother, Natalia was starving. It was amazing at how hungry you could get after hours and hours of shopping.
She opted this as she listened to her friend speak. Kaci really couldn't stand her step-mother. Even though Talia didn't really know the woman, and wasn't one to judge, she always tried to support Kaci in her thoughts. Listening was just one of the things that Natalia was good at. Plus, Kaci was her friend. She understood where the other girl was coming from; they just got each other. The teen giggle lightly as Kaci's explanation came to an end. "Oh, that's understandable! Did the rest of your family leave?" Even if they didn't, Talia knew the chances of Kaci staying at home if her step-mother was there were slim. But, she still felt the need to ask.
Natalia heard a plate hit the counter now, and she spun around. Her food had arrived. Smiling happily, the girl reached for her chopsticks and poked at her food. "I know! Sushi is just so good! My even my brother, who believes in eating different cultures of food, won't eat it." She shook her head, laughing slightly before taking at bite out of her sushi. It had taken her years to figure out how to use chopsticks, but she had finally got it.

Kaci stuck another sushi roll in her mouth and she listened to Talia speak. "Oh, that's understandable! Did the rest of your family leave?" She shook her head no before swallowing the sushi roll. "Daddy was at work and I don't know where my older sister was. I'm pretty sure my brother was in his room with his friends. I highly doubt they would've wanted to come with me but the feelings mutual with them!" She smiled and fumbled with another sushi roll. They were so little but they filled you up quickly.
She couldn't help but giggle a little bit at Talia smiling that her food had came. She looked like a fat kid who'd just got a Big Mac from McDonald's. But hey, who didn't have those days where food just made them ubber happy?
Kaci took a sip of her water and looked at Talia while she talked. "I use to hate sushi when I was older then I grew out of it. Now it's like my favorite thing ever. Everyone just thinks anything raw is nasty but oh well! They're the ones missing out, more for me and you!" TAG?! talia. WORD COUNT?! 193. MUSE?! nothing. haha. OUTFIT?! first post. LYRICS?! The sushi tasted good. Talia was blissfully happy. Who knew something as simple as food could make one so happy? It really had been too long since she'd been here. This made her mother's crazy shopping trip worth while. Well, almost. Nothing could quite make up for her mother's insanity. After all, why would Natalia really care about a cousin's -who she'd really only met a few times- wedding? Yeah, she hadn't figured that out. It wasn't anything against her cousin... just, if they barely knew each other, Talia seen no point in fussing over it.
Kaci went on to explain her family's where-abouts. She smiled, giggling slightly at the mention of her brother's friends. Talia knew how that was. She wouldn't ever ask her own brother's friends to come have sushi with her. It'd just be... awkward. Plus, they all just thought of her as a little sibling. Or, a little pain in the butt. She supposed it depended on the day. But, Talia was really fine with that. It wasn't like she wanted to hang out with them, either.
"Exactly! Sushi is just... amazing." Talia beamed, stuffing another sushi roll in her mouth. Yes, she was very easily satisfied. But, she supposed that it was good thing. Otherwise, life would be a pain. Her phone went off in her pocket and Talia's eyes skimmed down to the screen. Her mother. She frowned slightly, reading over the message basically telling Talia to be ready in twenty minutes. Well, at least she had some time.
Turning back to Kaci, Talia's cheerful smile now returning. "What are you up to today? Anything fun?" Talia could only hope Kaci's life was a little more interesting than her own today.
((yeah, sorry this kinda sucks. i have like no muse for talia today. Dx))
