WHAT THE HELL IS ADD?
MY FRIENDS SAY I SHOULD ACT MY AGE. Teddy pointed out. He understood her meaning and why she was upset about the fact they weren't best friends like they used to be, but things like that happened. They happened a lot. Perhaps it would be vastly different if Jada wasn't a girl and Teddy wasn't a boy. The gender divide was a lot bigger than either of them would admit. The fact Jada was female limited when she was allowed to hang out with Teddy, because if she did it too much, people talked. They both tended to hang out more with people their own gender, just because that was how high school worked. Things were different when you were young and things were different when you got older. Teddy hoped Jada didn't read that as him brushing off her point about their friendship. "Things happen, y'know," he told her, sitting up in the driver's seat and pulling the seatbelt over him. The placed the keys he'd previously been swinging on his fingers into the ignition and the car roared to life, and he leaned over to flick through the iPod for a song. "Pick a song," he told her, handing the iPod. He had more things to concentrate on - like getting out the parking lot before anyone really noticed they were leaving. Not that anyone would really care, Teddy thought. "You can get a tan in the kitchen, the oven's always warm," Teddy told her, with a slight smile on his face as he pulled out of the parking spot and headed down toward the street, hitting the indicator. He couldn't remember the last time he'd been to the beach, and he probably wasn't quite dressed like it, at least not how Jada was. He could have planned in advance if he thought they'd be heading there. Instead Teddy was in white jeans and top. Hardly beach attire, he thought. "D'ya mind if we swing by my house? There's no way I'm going to the beach dressed like this," Teddy pointed out. "I'll get my speedos on for you," he joked. [/ul]

Jada didn't like feeling like a weak person, like she needed or missed someone. It was the case with Teddy, but she did not want it to seem like that. That would just make things weird between them. That was the reason she never told him that she liked him. It would just make things weird, and even if it didn't, what were they going to do? They couldn't possibly date, that was practically out of the question in Jada's mind. They argued way to much. Sure, it was just friendly bickering back and forth but if they started dating, would their differences make it something bigger? She shook her head quickly, shaking that out of her mind. Your being ridiculous, Jada. She told herself, silently scolding herself in her mind. "Yeah, your right. I'm just being a bit overdramatic." She said, smiling at him. Her smile got even bigger as he handed her the ipod. "Oh, lets see, does Teddy James Caplan have anything interesting on his ipod? She flipped through for a while, seeing nothing even remotely interesting to her, good music but nothing you wouldn't expect. Then she laughed and smiled at him. "California Girls, Teddy? Really?" She smiled brightly and clicked on the song, laughing even harder as it came on. This was great for her. She never pegged Teddy as a Katy Perry guy.
She rolled her eyes as he made yet another joke about the kitchen. "You are ridiculous, Teddy." She stared out the window for a little while before hearing him ask about going to his house. "You know," She said, smiling. "I almost said no until you mentioned the speedos. Sounds like a great idea to me."

WHAT THE HELL IS ADD?
MY FRIENDS SAY I SHOULD ACT MY AGE. Teddy said as Jada started playing California Girls. "I just can't think of it right now," he smiled. So, he was a Katy Perry fan? Big deal. Teddy liked a large range of different music, and Katy Perry happened to be something of a guilty pleasure, although Teddy drew the line at Lady Gaga. It didn't really matter to Teddy who made the music, it just mattered that he liked it. His iPod was full of different things that didn't seem to be related to one another. Having his iPod on shuffle often surfaced this strange music taste, from everything like Oasis to Madness to Katy Perry to Dillinger Escape Plan. Whatever Teddy liked he'd put on his iPod. "I'm glad the thought of me in my speedos could convince you," he told her, glancing over at Jada and smiling as he pulled up at a red light. He turned his attention back to the lights and sighed heavily, tapping his fingers on the steering wheel briefly, growing irritated at the lights despite the fact they'd only just pulled up at them. Teddy was the type of person who suffered intense road rage over the smallest of things. His reaction when someone cut him off was definitely something else to behold. Gone was mild-mannered and well spoken Teddy, replaced by some Hulk-like creature who screamed profanities at said car and driver. Luckily the roads were fairly clear right now. [/ul]

As Teddy pulled onto the main road, Jada opened her purse, pulling out a mirror and quickly throwing her hair into a ponytail and assessing it for a second before shutting the mirror and putting it back. It was getting a bit hot and California Girls wasn't the type of song that you sat there in the car with the windows rolled up. No, you had to roll down the windows, have your hair blowing in the breeze and sing it at the top of your lungs. She rolled down her window and looked towards Teddy. "Be prepared." She warned. She wasn't the worst singer in the world, no she was pretty good actually but that all depended on how you viewed it. Everyone always had different opinions on her singing. Her family, except for her brother, thought she was fantastic while a choir teacher in middle school thought she just "couldn't make the cut." With Teddy fully warned though, she started singing and even dancing slightly in her seat. "Hey you know, your a guy who likes Katy Perry and isn't afraid to have her on his ipod. More power to you." She said, still dancing a bit and smiling. She laughed as he mentioned the speedos again. "Well yeah! I mean who would want to pass up on that offer?" She said, as they pulled up to the stoplight. Jada was a relatively patient person, to a certain extent. On the roads on a nice summer day such as this, Jada could care less about the stop lights or traffic. She was just happy to be out and about.

WHAT THE HELL IS ADD?
MY FRIENDS SAY I SHOULD ACT MY AGE. Teddy pointed out with a smile. He wasn't too far from his home, but far enough to be embarrassed a fair amount by Jada as she danced in her seat and sung along to Katy Perry. He was beginning to regret ever putting the song on his iPod - perhaps he should stick to the depressing songs. Though he imagined that wouldn't stop Jada either, and in his mind's eye he imagined her belting out some wholly depressing love song out of his car window. She could probably stop traffic, Teddy thought, and she was a bigger risk to his driving than his inability to stop at red lights. The lights turned green and Teddy hammered it down the road, perhaps the wind would drown Jada out. No such luck, he noticed. He glanced across at her, the warm sun beating down on them. It was pretty much the perfect day to be out in the sun. He couldn't have been more glad to have run into Jada and have decided to give school a miss in favor of a day out at the beach. With a defeated sigh Teddy rolled down his driver's window, shaking his head as he did so. He wasn't about to start singing like Jada, but he couldn't help but feel just a little bit of her enthusiasm as he drove along toward his house. He turned a corner, heading into his street. Of course Jada knew where he lived, and she knew quite well what the inside of the house was like - pristine and unwelcoming. His uncle would be at work, like he normally was, and Teddy would be able to grab his stuff without too much of a fuss. He pulled up sharply - perhaps a little too sharply - outside his house and glanced over at Jada with a smile. [/ul]

Jada smiled, she knew it was probably pretty embarassing to Teddy that she was sitting her dancing and singing so loud, but honestly she didn't really care. Teddy was the type of person that she could be totally goofy and herself around and not care. Anyone else she might hold herself back a bit but Teddy was used to it by now. She stuck her tongue out at him he mentioned her sounding like a dying cat. "I dare you to sing better." She said smiling, hoping that he might accept her challenge. That would be a moment fit for youtube, if only she had her camera. She watched him for a moment, hoping he would sing. She held onto her seat a bit as Teddy went quickly down the road and pulled into his driveway. Teddy was always that type of driver. He was also pretty hot tempered on the roads. Jada actually found it extremely amusing. He was that driver that people were usually scared of. She knew she would be if he were ever to yell at her like that. Fortuanetly, she had never been close enough on the roads to get to be the receiving end of the yelling. She looked at him and clicked off her seatbelt. "Do you mind if I come in and get something to drink?"

WHAT THE HELL IS ADD?
MY FRIENDS SAY I SHOULD ACT MY AGE. he sung, turning his head back to Jada and smirking broadly. He was intentionally singing in a high pitch, a horrible grating sound that would probably make his neighbor's dog whine for the next half an hour. "Once you party with us you'll be falling in love," he finished, before buring his face in the steering wheel, unable to look across at Jada as the song continued. The car fell silent as Teddy pulled the keys from the ignition, his forehead still on the steering wheel. "Yeah sure, get a drink, let me know if you find my dignity hiding in the back of the fridge, yeah?" Teddy asked, and opened the driver's door, head still down. He finally looked up, across at Jada with a wry smile. "Teddy has talent," he quipped dryly before unlocking the seatbelt and stepping out into the drive way. He couldn't hear the neighbor's dog - either it was out being taken for a walk, or it was dead, Teddy decided. No animal would be able to shield itself from that kind of pure torture. Taking a deep breath, swinging the keys on his finger as he walked toward the door, Teddy looked back to see if Jada was falling him. Or maybe she'd died of laughter back in the car. Nobody was at home right now, which was helpful, simply because Teddy knew his immature uncle wouldn't let him ever live it down if he so much as heard Teddy sing like that, or even singing along to Katy Perry at all. It was pure comedic gold, Teddy decided, though he found it funny himself. [/ul]

Jada's mouth dropped open as Teddy began singing. She had not actually expected him to start singing and to be honest, it was the worse thing she had ever heard. She covered her ears but couldn't help but start laughing. By the time Teddy had turned the car off and slumped his head against the steering wheel, Jada was slumped over in her seat, holding her sides. It took all her will power to finally slow her laughing down to a slight giggle so that she could get out of the car. She whiped her eyes and smiled at Teddy. "Oh yeah, Teddy definitely has talent. Poeple's ears are supposed to bleed when you sing." She said laughing slightly. She shook her head for a second, snapping next to her ear. "Actually, I think I have gone slightly deaf in this ear." She shook her head, still smiling broadly and laughing a bit. "Alright, I am done making fun of you for now. Although I wish I had gotten my camera out and record that. That would be perfect Youtube material. Although, your reputation might take a blow." She followed him up to the door and wondered if things still looked the same inside. When she was little she used to spend a lot of her time here with Teddy, and although he and his uncle lived there, his house looked like it was barely lived in. Like it was a house on show when the owners put it up for sale.

he retorted dryly, with a hint of affection in his voice as he spoke. "Jada Hall - voice of an angel. An angel being tortured, obviously," he added, with a smile. Holding the keys in his hand he reached to open the door, glad to know that the house would be empty - his uncle's car wasn't out the front, which indicated that he'd gone out to work. He had off hours, although he worked an awful lot, so Teddy never knew whether to expect him home after school was out or at one in the morning. It varied depending on the trials of the day that working offered his uncle. He opened the door and stepped inside, holding it open so Jada could follow him in. Teddy had long since made the decision in his head that, upon turning eighteen, he wanted to move out. He'd come to this resolution for a multitude of reasons, one of them being the house that he lived in. It was almost bare, the only sign that it was lived in was the fact that he occasionally left wrappers or cans around, which he eventually did get around to clearing up. His bedroom was a lot different - decorated with posters and photos and was ultimately the warmest part of the house. Everywhere else just felt cold and uninviting. Teddy often felt weird inviting people around, but Jada had seen it all before, and Teddy was fairly convinced that, aside from the addition of a few new contemporary paintings of utter bullshit, nothing had changed since she'd last stepped inside. Another reason why Teddy wanted to move out was his uncle's working habits - it wasn't the fact Teddy never got to see him, it was the fact he worked such insane hours to support Teddy too. If his uncle only had himself to take care of, he probably wouldn't have to work half the amount he did. It meant he had enough to look after his brother's son as well as continue his established lifestyle. When Teddy had moved in with his uncle - who, at the time, had a lovely girlfriend who'd helped raise Teddy 'til he was nine - his uncle had been fairly young. Teddy was seeing him age a ridiculous amount by working so hard. Teddy had lived there for exactly twelve years now, and he was beginning to feel like he imposed upon his uncle. "You know where the fridge is," Teddy pointed out, heading up the stairs towards his bedroom so he could change clothes.[/ul]
