Today was just going great for Jada. She had woken up an hour late and was therefore late to school. Her parents already were not happy with her and this just seemed like the icing on the cake of her horrible week. Not to mention her car had broken down so she then had to call her mother, who was in a rush to get to a meeting, to come give her a ride to school, making her parents even more angry with her. When she finally did arrive to school, Jada was in about the worst mood she had been in all year. If people were smart, they would keep their distance, of course that never happens. She got pestered on the way to her locker by at least five people trying to recruit new members for their clubs. The clubs ranging from a tree-huggers "Save The Rainforest!" club to a Harry Potter club. "This school have some of the nerdiest people on the planet." She grumbled as she got to her locker finally. All Jada wanted to be doing right now was laying on the beach, soaking up the sun and drinking a strawberry smoothie. Of course she had to be stuck here. Usually Jada loved school and learning and everything, as nerdy as that might seem. On a good day, she looked forward to going to math. However, today was not a good day.

WHAT THE HELL IS ADD?
MY FRIENDS SAY I SHOULD ACT MY AGE. at science. His uncle was always delighted to find his nephew was a science prodigy, but Teddy struggled with the idea his calling was in science. Likewise, his math grades were pretty outstanding too, and Teddy cursed the signs that were building, telling him to follow a career in science. He spotted someone he recognised down the hall - Jada. A sly smile spread across Teddy's face as he saw her brush off the many people desperate for club members. He continued to walk down the hallway, pausing to sign up to one of the many clubs someone was offering. Teddy wasn't even sure what he was signing, but glanced at the last second as he finished writing and saw he'd just signed up to the Harry Potter Club. Well, that wasn't strictly true, he thought, as he took a badge from the student and carried on down the hall. He held the badge out in his hand, which proclaimed he was now part of the Harry Potter club. "The nerd shall inherit the earth, Jada," he told the girl as he paused besides her, palm flat out to show her the badge. "So, yeah, I signed you up to the Harry Potter club. You can thank me later," he joked. It was true - he had put Jada's name down instead of his own on the list. Man, he loved annoying Jada.[/ul]

Jada took a deep breath, closing her eyes and trying to calm herself. The day will get better, Jada. Just wait. You get your math test back today and that grade alone will sure enough make your parents relax again. She thought to herself and suddenly, the day did seem a bit better. She put on a smile and turned to look down the hall towards the clock hanging on the wall. She didn't have time to spot the clock, however, as she saw Teddy walking down the hall towards her. She rolled her eyes and looked into the mirror giving her hair a slight run through with her fingers and re-adjusting her necklace. To say she did not like Teddy would be an understatement, and he always seemed to find her on days like these when she was already aggravated. Yet, there was something about him that Jada just couldn't get over. He was definitely charming when he wanted to be and was not at all bad looking. He would be the kind of guy Jada would have a crush on if he wasn't so annoying. She looked just in time to see Teddy hold out a badge. "So, yeah, I signed you up to the Harry Potter club. You can thank me later," She raised an eyebrow. "Your kidding me right?" She looked down the hall and saw the guy who had been accepting new sign ups wave to her. "Fantastic." She said, looking back to her locker and pulling out her math book. "You know, Teddy, today really is not the day to be messing with me. I woke up an hour late, my parents are pissed at me, and my car broke down on the way to school. Meaning for the next few days while I get it fixed, I am walking or catching a ride from my mom. Which will just be absolutely fantastic considering she has been a stressed out mess all week." She could feel herself rambling like Teddy really cared about her problems. "So how about you take the badge and go cross my name off or something because there is no way Im being associated with a Harry Potter Club."

WHAT THE HELL IS ADD?
MY FRIENDS SAY I SHOULD ACT MY AGE. Teddy replied, and he closed his fist around the badge and slipped it into his pocket. His gaze slipped from her face for a mere second, giving just a second of insight of how he was feeling about what she'd just said. Teddy did feel bad, but he knew better than to really show it. He didn't want Jada to think he was going soft on her now. They were both late now, and Teddy wasn't all that bothered anymore. He was struggling to accept he was going to have to resign himself to a life of science, but if he kept missing English class he might as well kiss it all goodbye anyway. Teddy certainly never made a conscious effort to do anything remotely academic, and he probably wasn't about to start. "Look... I'll drive you if you want?" Teddy asked, glancing down at the floor quickly and then back up at Jada. "As long as you promise you won't forget to put clothes on in the morning, Jada. Those shorts are illegal in about forty different states," Teddy teased. He couldn't help it, where ever he offered something nice, or something that would build a bridge between himself and Jada, he had to go and destroy it with a thinly veiled insult regarding something about her. Teddy didn't censor himself, and he glanced at her shorts again and raised one eyebrow. They were pretty damn short, he thought. [/ul]

"Like I haven't heard that before." She said, rolling her eyes. That was every guy's reasoning behind why a girl was upset or angry. "Oh they must be on their period." Guys never actually considered that it was their fauly that girls were always upset or angry. Teddy for example, he had never really "upset" her, but he was the reason behind most of her annoyed moods. She pulled out a notebook and checked her hair in her mirror once more before shutting her locker and turning to him. She raised an eyebrow as he mentioned about giving her a ride. "Woah, wait a second. Teddy Caplan offering to do something nice for me?! That is a first, this should be in the record books!" She had considered asking him to give her a ride to school but that wouldn't be acceptable. That would be her asking him for a favor, putting him in control. "A ride sounds good though." She smiled slightly, but looked down, then laughed a little at his crack about her shorts. "I have never heard a teenage guy complain about a teenage girl wearing shorts that were "too short." I am so sorry, i will wear my nun outfit tomorrow. Lets be honest here though Teddy, you like it. We all know you have had a crush on me for so long." She said jokingly, she of course knew it was the other way around and that she was the one who has had the crush on Teddy. Of course she would never tell him. It would ruin the friendship they had. Things wouldn't work between them anyway, they argued far too much. It was what they did. There was no changing it. They had been doing it since they were both really young. First, it started off innocent enough, doing what every child did with friends and arguing over toys. They used to spend almost every day together when they were kids, arguing like that. However, as they got older they grew apart. Of course, Teddy still kept up the annoying jokes about her, but they didn't spend much time together anymore.

WHAT THE HELL IS ADD?
MY FRIENDS SAY I SHOULD ACT MY AGE. Teddy retorted. It seemed true though, especially with Jada. She always seemed to be an irritable mood. Or maybe it was just around him? Perhaps Teddy was the root cause of all her irritable moods. Maybe she was having a grand old time before Teddy came swanning in to make her life just a bit more miserable. Teddy would never know, he guessed. "Contrary to popular opinion, I do have a nice side," Teddy replied. He stepped back from her and walked across the hall, where his locker was situated. "Albeit a rarely seen side to me, but it does exist," Teddy added, opening the locker and shoving his books inside with little concern. He turned around to face her again and watched her checking herself in the mirror. Women, always worried about their appearance, he thought. They spent half the time getting dolled up and putting make up on for the simple act of coming to school, which was, as everyone knew, pretty much a social club for girls who had a lesser interest in education. "I'm actually a lesbian teenage girl trapped in a teenage guys body," Teddy replied. "Wait, no, that doesn't work because then I'd love to see your... Whatever," he brushed off his statement and smirked back at Jada. "I deem that your skirt or shorts must reach... here," he said, and he bent down and placed his hand very lightly against her thigh, to show her the length of her clothes he would deem acceptable. It was barely an inch longer than the shorts she had on currently and he smiled up at her. "I have a big lesbian crush on you, Jada, yes," Teddy retorted, raising his eyebrow again. "Fueled by the knowledge I've seen you completely naked when you were short enough to bite my ankles," he joked, and stood up infront of her, almost a head taller than the girl before him, "which, of course, was only last week." Teddy couldn't imagine having a crush on Jada, she was something else. People would refer to girls as their little sisters, but that wasn't quite the relationship Teddy had with Jada. He'd never really factored her in as girlfriend material, mostly because he knew practically everything there was to know about her. He was protective over her, in a way he wouldn't admit, to her or to himself. That was partially the reason why he offered her a lift to school, because he didn't want to imagine her walking by herself. Not with those shorts on, anyway. "What's this about a nun outfit? Kinky," Teddy smirked. [/ul]

Jada had to admit, when she was around Teddy, she had the tendency to get a bit irritable with all his jokes. Of course she knew that was all they were and that he meant no harm by them, but at times they would get to her. However, like girls, guys were just as irritable occasionally. They did not have an excuse though, they didn't PMS. "Yeah, well I blame you for my irritable moods. You, my crappy car, and my parents." It was mostly just her crappy car that she blamed. If it weren't for that, she might not have been as late today and her parents wouldn't be pissy. It was there fault though, for buying her an unreliable car like that. She raised her eyebrows at him and watched him walk across the hall. "Why am I just now seeing nice Teddy then? You'd think, as long as we have known eachother, that I would see a nicer you more often." She walked over to his locker and leaned against the one next to it, watch him as he shoved his book into his locker. Jada was sort of OCD about her locker and the condition of her books. She kept them in good condition and had everything organized. It was weird, but Jada had been doing it with books since she was old enough to read. She laughed a little as he tried to explain the whole 'lesbian teenage girl' thing. "Well, that was smart. Then again, you weren't always that great with the way you worded things." She said, smiling at him. Just as much as Teddy teased her, she loved to tease back. She watched him as he showed her what he thought was "acceptable." "Oh well that sucks, aside from jeans and sweatpants I dont think I own anything that long." She shrugged a little. This wasn't true. Her grandmother had sent her some skirts for Christmas last year that almost reached her knees. They were actually really ridiculous and she would not be caught dead in them. She smiled, slightly sdeuctively. "Well, how about we make a deal, I will show you this 'nun outfit' if you skip today with me? Go to the beach or something? I do not want to be here today."

WHAT THE HELL IS ADD?
MY FRIENDS SAY I SHOULD ACT MY AGE. . Teddy just resolved not to show up to class when he was that late. Luckily he had someone to not go to class with, now he'd found Jada. "I blame your crappy car and your general crappy outlook on life," Teddy replied when she told him she blamed him for his bad mood. Perhaps he was the root cause of her frustration that day, but she certainly wasn't ushering him away or walking off, so she was obviously content in allowing her mood to be further tampered with by his presence. Teddy smiled at her and slammed his locker door shut before his mountain of books could tumble down upon him and cause a mess. That would be awkward to deal with later, he thought, but Teddy generally didn't mind about 'later', because it was a problem for future Teddy to worry about. "Nice Teddy is locked away," he replied. "I have a reputation to uphold, Jada, I can't be seen being nice to people. They'll start to think I'm human and I'll lose all grip on my roots," Teddy joked. He was prone to bouts of being nice, and he was far from being the least caring person in the world. He could be extremely empathetic when he chose to be, and was the kind of person who could pick up on emotions quickly. Whether he responded to those emotions was a different case entirely, and Teddy tended to pick the people around him carefully. Some people just weren't emotionally equipped to deal with someone as headstrong and generally insulting as Teddy. However, Jada had grown up with him and they shared a similar personality, in the sense they both constantly made fun of one another for really no reason what so ever. It was a way of showing affection... maybe. "Skip school?" Teddy asked, hearing his many books fall hard against the inside of his locker. "Me? Never," he joked. Teddy and education never really went hand-in-hand, and he knew that Jada was smart in her own way. Both of them had grown up to be quite against education though, no surprise considering they knew each other so well and bits of their personality soaked into the others. "But if you're going to convince me with this mythical nun outfit, which we both know you'd never own, then sure," he said, and reached into his pocket. He produced his car keys and the Harry Potter badge, and he held the latter out to her. "But you've gotta wear the badge. All day," he grinned.[/ul]

Jada had to admit, she took a bit of offence to what Teddy said. It's not like she was a total negative person of anything, in fact usually she was a really positive person about things. "What is that supposed to mean? I am a positive person! There is nothing wrong with the way I look at life." She laughed as he closed his locker quickly. She knew this was probably how his room and closet were at home. That was one thing that she could not stand about guys. THey were mostly total slobs and Jada just could not handle it. "Yeah well you know, I like nice Teddy. Until you start nagging me about my shorts like my father does." Of course she would change Teddy for anything in the world. The reason they were friends were because of how similar they were and how they loved to tease eachother. Their friendship wouldn't be as good as it was if he was nice Teddy all the time.
"Yeah, I usually don't miss a second of school either." she joked. "You are just a bad influence on me, Teddy. I'm surprised my parents even let me hang out with you." She shook her head and clicked her tongue in mock disappointment. She didn't skip school enough to actually get caught or make a habit of it, but she did when she could or when she just wasnt feeling up to going to school. A few weeks ago, she left her house as early as normal only to go to a local mall and shop all day. She stared at his hand as he held the badge out. " Absolutely not. I would rather go to the rest of my classes and just deal with the crappiness of today then be seen anywhere wearing that. There was no way she was budging on this subject. If anything, she'd ask another friend.

WHAT THE HELL IS ADD?
MY FRIENDS SAY I SHOULD ACT MY AGE. Teddy replied. "Your general crappy outlook on life today," he smiled. The fact Jada and him were similar was by no means a surprise, simply because they'd spent their lives growing up together. Of course, they differed too, there was just enough difference between them that it kept their lives interesting - and kept them arguing of course. It was all in good humor and never serious, they just liked to pick on each other. Teddy did it because he knew he could with Jada, and Jada did it back because Teddy just happened to provoke her into doing so. Teddy's face dropped when he saw her reaction to the badge, much like he'd just offered her a poisonous spider, given her horrified reaction. He hadn't expected her to be thrilled with the idea, but he hadn't expected her to react with such emotion and disgust. Teddy was beginning to wonder if she was still the Jada he remembered from when they were young, questioning where that girl had disappeared to. He swung his car keys on his finger and shrugged at her. "Right, whatever," he said, and dropped the badge back into his pocket. He'd been leaning on the lockers and pushed himself off, walking down the hallway. "Come if you want, I'm going anyway," he told her. He wasn't going to stick around and suffer the pains of school, not today. He didn't like the fact Jada was shooting down his own good mood because she was having a tough morning. He was simply trying to cheer her up.[/ul]

She rolled her eyes, of course she had a crappy outlook on things today. It wasn't exactly a great day for her. On one hand though, he was right. Things would get better, she even told herself that earlier before he had come along. Jada was just the type of person that had trouble thinking that until things did get better. She put on a smile for Teddy though. "I am sorry, all rainbows and sunshine from now on. No more of this 'crappy outlook on life' everything is great and peachy." She said a bit sarcastically, still smiling. Teddy did have ways of brightening her mood though, he was always the positive one in the friendship. Jada knew she had probably overreacted a bit to the badge, but that was only confirmed when she saw Teddy's face drop. She actually felt bad. She took a step closer to him before he pulled out his keys and began walking down the hall. She caught up to him quickly. "I'm sorry about that.." She said, not believing she was apologizing. he was of course going to hold this over her head forever. "I'm still coming though, because I'm going to make it up to you." She said, turning to him and smiling a bit. She wasn't exactly sure how she planned to make it up to him, but she would find a way. There was no reason for her to be taking her bad day out on him when he was being nice to her and trying to make her happy.

WHAT THE HELL IS ADD?
MY FRIENDS SAY I SHOULD ACT MY AGE. he pointed out. "I promise that's the last you'll see of him," he assured her. He pushed the door open, holding it so Jada could follow him out into the parking lot. It was almost too easy to bunk off school, and he didn't understand why more people didn't do it. Perhaps because they wanted an education? Surely not, Teddy thought as he headed toward his car. It wasn't much to look at, a second-hand car he'd bought with a mixture of the little money his uncle had given him when he turned sixteen, and his own money from a part-time job. It was nothing amazing, but it got him from A to B and he took care of it well enough. It was freedom for Teddy and he enjoyed the ability to be able to get in his car and go where ever he liked without having to answer to anyone. His uncle was a bit on the leniant side with Teddy, which was the root cause of Teddy's constant misbehaviour, really. "To the beach, ma'am?" He asked with a grin, unlocking the passenger door and swinging it open for Jada.[/ul]

She was extremely relieved when he said not to worry about making it up to him. "Good because if I am being honest here, I would have had no idea how to make it up to you. I don't know you as well as I did when we were kids. What ever happened to that Teddy?" They used to be inseperable when they were kids. She used to consider Teddy her best friend. She never really had many girl friends. She was never the girly girl that sat before Teddy Caplan. In fact when she was younger, she was just one of the boys. Jada honestly missed the way it used to be, things were so much easier when she was younger. She cleared her head of thoughts of the past and smiled a bit as he held open the door for her. "You know, holding the door open for me is pretty nice. Are you sure nice Teddy is hiding? I personally think that I just bring out the best in you. I mean I do that with everyone, I am just that awesome." She said smiling as she walked with him to his car. She could not be happier to be able to breath in the fresh air. The school was like a toxic pit with mixtures of colognes, perfumes, and just normal school smells. As Teddy held open the passenger door for her, she feigned shock. "Well look at that, holding the door open and calling me ma'am. Your going to lose your reputation. She smiled at him as she got into the car, shutting the door and waiting for him to come around to the other side.

WHAT THE HELL IS ADD?
MY FRIENDS SAY I SHOULD ACT MY AGE. Teddy asked, still swinging the keys on his finger and frowning at her. As far as he could see, Teddy had gone no where. It was Jada who had been the one to change, to throw something awkward in to their friendship by being a damn girl. "I haven't changed," Teddy told her, pointedly. "I mean, I'm taller, but that's about it. Oh, and I got rid of my toy cars and drive a real one," Teddy added. "Though I think the world was safer when I was driving toy ones..." He smirked. He glanced at the door when she mentioned he was holding open and he shrugged slightly. "No, no, this isn't nice Teddy, this is chivalrous Teddy, who believes in holding doors for girls," he countered. "He also believes you should be making him a sandwich right about now," he grinned at her as he shut the passenger door behind her and walked around to the driver's seat, still swinging the keys from his fingers as he slid into the driver's seat and shut the door after him. "I lied, I'm actually driving you to a kitchen," Teddy told her. [/ul]

Jada was not sure how to word what she wanted to say. It wasn’t necessarily that Teddy had changed, but more like things between them had changed. There, that was how she would say it. ”Let me rephrase that. Not ‘what happened to that Teddy’ but rather ‘what happened to how we were back then’. That sounded a lot better. A lot less offensive towards Teddy too, not that she had ever meant for it to be offensive, but if it did come out sounding that way, Jada didn’t want to ruin the conversation they were having and the fun that Jada knew they would have today. “I miss being your best friend, Teddy.” She rethought what she just said and decided she needed to throw an insult in there like he did earlier.
”You know, when you weren’t being a brat and not sharing your toys.” She said, smiling at him. She laughed at what Teddy said as he was holding the door open for her. ”That is so ridiculous. If I were to actually follow the whole ‘women only cooking and cleaning’ thing, I would end up killing someone.” It was true. She would go insane with boredom. She laughed as he said he was driving her to a kitchen. ”Yeah right, I need some sun and I can’t get that in a kitchen. Do you see how white my legs are?” She said, moving her arms aside to show her legs which although were not blindingly white, were still not as tan as they usually were.
