I'm not much a poet but a criminal
And you never had a chance Locking the door behind him, Blaine put down the lid of the toilet and pulled a small plastic bag from his pocket. He could probably have snorted the stuff straight off the bar of this sleazy place and nobody would have batted an eyelid but even so, he took careful measures to avoid being found out; going straight back to jail was hardly an exciting prospect for the newly freed young man. Blaine kneeled down next to the toilet and carefully tipped the contents of the bag onto the toilet seat, looking at the powder for a few seconds before slipping his wallet out of his pocket and beginning to scrape it into neat lines with the edge of his credit card.
It was hardly the new start he had promised himself but things were going so badly that a little pick-me-up seemed too tempting to turn down. It was not as if the stuff was difficult to get hold of after all, having a drug dealing brother meant the house was full of pills and powders, if you knew the right places to look. Which Blaine generally did- liking to think he’d already ‘been there and done that’ in regards to most of Oz’s antics. He pulled a dollar note from his wallet and began to roll it tightly, wondering whether coming to Lipton in the first place was a good idea. It hadn’t helped Oz, that was quite obvious, and sitting here crouched over his lines of cocaine, Blaine wondered how much it had really helped him.
Blaine shrugged off his worries and set to work quickly and methodically snorting up the fine white powder, giving a large sniff once he had finished. Stuffing the empty bag down the toilet, Blaine put his wallet back into his pocket and opened the toilet door, casually strolling back towards the club and into the crowds of revellers probably just as drunk and high as he was soon going to be. He wiped his nose with the back of his hand, keen to remove any remaining traces of the white dust from his nostrils. With his hand still held up to his face though, Blaine spotted a familiar face within the crowd. He gazed almost admiringly over at her, letting his eyes wander over her body from a distance. He could approach, but that may encourage a repeat of their previous meeting. Or he could stand here and look slightly pervy. Blaine rubbed the last of the powder from his face and began to walk over to the bar, maintaining glances over at her as he did. He may not be able to have Adele, but that didn’t mean he wanted some drunken scumbag to have her instead. And if Sparkles had one thing, it was plenty of drunken scumbags. Blaine ordered a drink and turned back, seeing just an empty space where Adele had been moments before. He scoured the crowd for a few seconds, trying to catch sight of the pretty blonde again. Adele shivered and quickly puffed the last of her smoke, returning to the dank bar. It was a dark evening and the night was cold. She didn’t have enough clothes on to even imagine being warnm, put the past few days she really needed a smoke. The girl who had an affair with her father was having twins, and the was only the tip of the iceberg. Adele had not seen her father in a week or two. Flicking the cigarette on the ground watching it burn. Scowling in disgust she stomped on it with her heels. She turned back to the bar doors nodding in a silent greeting to the bouncer. She walked slowly into the bar, the room full of heat from the warm drunken bodies dancing and slurring about. She walked to the seat she usually occupied and put her small bag on the counter. Adele didn’t want a drink, but she didn’t want anything boring. She pulled down her dress and sat. Resting her head on her hand and looking at the people standing and sitting on the bar. Some pervert hit on a girl with a rather crude comment she looked away in disgust. Some guys… She ordered a diet soda and drank it from the straw. She watched the people milling about as they danced to the blaring music and stumble from being to drunk. She laughed at them and turned back around. No on looked good enough to mess with tonight, or at least yet. Adele messed with her fingernails, picking off any black nail polish that was on her finger. She tapped her fingers to the beat of the music, it was so boring! Her mind was going to explode. She had nothing to do. Almost everyone she talked to wouldn’t talk to her, or had plans. She slinked off of her chair and walked towards the dance floor. She walked toward the leering crowd and sidestepped around people. She mad her way to center, wondering what she was going to do now. There wasn’t anyone to mess with, no fun at all. Adele looked around and watched as a guy made his way to her. She kept her face happy but inside she wished he would die. He walked up and began with a crude comment. Not a good mark. Adele smiled and carried on a light conversation, and then he said another crude comment. “ Fuck off” Adele smiled again.

And you never had a chance Blaine took his drink from the bar tender and raised it to his lips, taking a long slow slug of the alcoholic beverage as his eyes scanned across the tangle of drunken bodies until they once more settled on the bleached blonde. He studied Adele’s face for a few moments as he lowered the drink, wondering what she had been doing since their unfortunate last encounter. She seemed the sort of girl who probably picked herself up from such a situation and moved onto the next guy pretty quickly. Not a slut, exactly, just a girl who was more concerned with having fun than getting into anything too heavy.
Taking another sip of the drink, Blaine watched as a guy approached Adele. The typical leering type, believing that a quick grope and a suggestive comment would automatically lead a girl into bed. Ireland had taught Blaine many things, and charm was something which he had come out of the Emerald Isle knowing just a thing or two about. He realised that lust was much more than heavy grinding and sexual comments. It was in your eyes, in your body language. The light flick of the smile and the sly wandering of the gaze. Nothing too forward, just enough to get a girl craving more.
Not that any of this knowledge was much use with Adele, he pondered. As much as he wanted to get things going with the beautiful girl, he was held back by his conscience. She was seventeen, probably not very worldly wise. Blaine was twenty one and had seen and done far more than many guys his age. She was up for things, sure, but Blaine still couldn’t help feeling he would be taking advantage a little.
Sensing the discomfort in Adele’s body language, Blaine stood up a little straighter, watching carefully with the drink in his hand. The guy looked like a jerk and whilst he was sure Adele could hold his own, Blaine still felt like he should be doing something more than just watching. She was a feisty thing but even so, drunken and leering guys could still be intimidating to a lone and vulnerable girl. Blaine observed as the guy continued to perve over Adele and reaching the end of his tether, began to wade through the crowds towards her. ”Alright darling?” He asked in his thick Irish drawl as he reached Adele, wrapping his arm protectively around her and giving a look of quiet resentment towards the man. ”This guy bothering you?” [/blockquote]

Pissed off at the world, that’s probably what Adeles expression looked at the moment. She looked at the guy wondering how drunk he was. The guy was hardly able to stand his own and his words were so slurred Adele hardly understood him. Well, she wished she couldn’t hear the things he was saying. It was highly unattractive when a guy thought he had so much confidence he could say anything and the girls swoon. It was probably just the alcohol giving the idiot courage but Adele didn’t care. Adele was in one of those moods were she felt like being a major bitch, not at all shocking. Slowly she shook her head and looked at the guy. She looked him up and down, trying to find anything to ridicule; and she hit the jackpot; a ring. So, he was either a cheater, or one of those guys who used there ring to get laid.
“ So is the ring pa-” Adele stopped talking as her eyes roamed the crowds. Blaine Well hell. Adele didn’t know to be happy and gleeful, or curse her faiths. Adele crossed her arms and looked back at the guy. Maybe he hadn’t seen her yet. “ Part of the act or do you like to wear things with no value?” Adele smirked at his retort. In reality, it wasn’t a retort it was another pick up line; “ Where have you been my whole life?” Adele didn’t have to think about anything to say back. “ Hiding from you” Cheesy pick up lines deserved a cheesy comeback.
What was with guys thinking that if a girl was dressed a certain way and by herself that she was looking for someone? Adele looked up again and she couldn’t see Blaine anywhere, maybe he had left? A small pain in Adele hoped he hadn’t. As sad as it was, Adele felt s sense of boredom again now that she though he was gone. She might leave as well. Adele changed her stance leaning more weight on her left leg and sticking her hip out, her arms still crossed under her chest. Tsking herself for being so stupid. It was then she felt an arm snake around her. Automatically she stood up straight and looked over. It was Blaine, he hadn’t left after all.
She relaxed a little, but still stood straight. Adele felt a little bit more happy, and almost melted at his voice. Adele sighed and looked back at the idiot, suddenly feeling defensive. Damn him for thinking she couldn’t handle her own. Adele had pretty much mastered turning down guys, she did it all the time. If she loved anything she loved to see a guys face fall, to see them walk away with there tail between there legs. She rolled her eyes and recrossed her arms. “ Yes I’m fine. Ive got it, as you can see, thanks.” Adele spoke through her teeth. Yes, she was happy to see him, but she was a bitch. She could hardly help it sometimes. Adele had an image to keep up, and she wasn’t going to let anyone else on the other side of it.

And you never had a chance Blaine ‘s lips curved into a slight naughty smile at her assurances, realising he had touched a nerve in making the girl out to be incapable of looking after herself. In all fairness, she hadn’t been particularly able to stand up for herself when Blaine had to carry her in his arms, unconscious, from the taxi. Probably best not mention this though, he thought, just go along with her idea that she was tough as old boots, not needing any help to get rid of this sleazy guy who stood in front of her.
Turning to Adele, Blaine moved his hand to the small of her back and pulled her in gently, letting his lips brush against her cheek in the lightest of kisses before they moved to her ear ”Even if he’s not bothering you, he’s bothering me” Blaine whispered, wanting to make it quite clear that even after all that had gone down, she still meant too much to him to watch her get hit on by some douchebag drunk. Slowly he pulled back, looking into Adele’s eyes for a few lingering seconds to get his message across.
Blaine knew better than to try to force her away from the guy. Girls like Adele were strong minded and stubborn and he knew that trying to control her would only make her more determined to carry on doing what she was doing just to spite him. Threatening the guy away or taking her by the hand would probably only anger Adele into making some rash decision to rub into Blaine’s face that she was independent and able to make her own decisions and there was nothing he could do to stop her.
Instead therefore, Blaine simply turned towards the bar and started to slowly walk away, leaving Adele to make her own decision about whether to follow. He’d said enough to let her know his feelings and it was now up to her what she did with that information. He hoped that his comment would raise her curiosity enough to lure her to follow him away from the drunken douchebag but Blaine was quite aware she may just stay where she was. No matter how much you knew about girls, you could never fully understand them or predict their reactions. [/blockquote]

Adele rolled her eyes, and silently huffed her breath. She stood straight and looked around bored. Silently she hoped the two guys would fight just for a little entertainment. It was of no question who would win though but hey, you never knew. The little guy could always shatter Blaine’s kneecaps. Adele almost laughed aloud at the thought. Feeling like her age, a little kid again. That was the last thing she wanted so she kept her mouth shut and looked around again.
Adele was shocked to feel Blaine’s hand along her back, and she looked questioningly at him, her brow lifting slightly. She kept her mouth shut her jaws clenched as he kissed her lightly. What the hell? So they guy bothered him more than he did her. Ohhh trouble. Adele smirked, the smirk faded away once she saw the look in his eyes. Adele cursed just about every word she could think of under her breath. Adele wondered if she should just go home, take her clothes off and take a nice soak in her tub with no lights on. But of course Adele couldn’t turn down drama.
Watching him walk away she wondered to follow or not. Adele could easily go about what she wanted to do, forget that anything had ever happened, but then she felt that gut feeling she should follow him. Maybe she would earn something in the end. She was still pissed, but whatever. The idiot coughed and Adele was reminded of his presence. The guy smirked and took another step in her direction. Adele looked at him in disgust and headed towards the bar. Men.
Her feet propelled after Blaine, ready to unleash her venom. People stumbled pass tripping left and right. People danced and crowded everywhere making it almost impossible to walk. Adele sidestepped everyone, almost crashed into someone with a drink. Why was she doing this anyways? She sighed and found Blaine, her mouth already open and running. “ What the hell was that?” Adele huffed out. She was going to start with a question she wanted answers, now and by God she was going to get them. He better explain himself good. What was with guys and there confusing ways? They always said girls were bad, but Adele was starting to think guys were worse.

And you never had a chance Blaine reached the bar and confidently ordered a drink for Adele, quite unsure if she was even following him. He slumped down into a barstool and handed over the money, suddenly hearing Adele’s voice behind him. Bingo. He turned to face her, noting the severely pissed off expression on her face. Apparently manipulating her into following him wasn’t the best way to get into Adele’s good books. Blaine wasn’t too bothered though, he doubted he was ever going to be in Adele’s good books. Girls always looked sexy when they were pissed off anyway.
”What the hell was what sweet?” He asked calmly, knowing full well what she meant but deciding to act with a sort of smug naivety. It would piss her off more, but hey- it was quite amusing. Hearing the clunk of the glass on the bar behind him, Blaine turned again, picking up the drink and standing up to give it to Adele. The drink could very well end up thrown all over him, she certainly seemed in a bad enough mood to do it, but it would be a shame to waste such hard earned alcohol. Blaine smiled at Adele, his eyes full of wicked thoughts but his mind holding him back from putting any of those thoughts into action.
Extending his hand towards her, Blaine offered Adele the drink. ”It’s good to see you again beautiful” he purred, pushing the conversation away from her angry rant in such a way that she would probably end up even more infuriated. Blaine took a sip of his drink, feeling the tension surround them in this cramped corner of the bar. It was the sort of tension which either led to a massive fight or to amazing sex. It was just a shame that with the latter out of the question, the former was quite possibly unavoidable.

Adele fumed, waiting for his answer. She crossed her arms at her chest and tapped her foot. Damn his calmness! Adele wanted answers. The longer she waited the more angry she got, and his little lines wouldn’t save him from her vengeance. She had been waiting all week to let her anger out, and even now she was restraining herself. “ You know what ’sweet’ “ The words came out through her teeth. Adele glared as he turned around containing herself from giving him the finger. Adele huffed out a breath and changed her stance again.
Looking the him up and down with a sweeping glance she took the drink. She sipped it carefully, and set it back down on the bars coaster. She sat down and bit the inside of her cheek. She threw her arms up in a exasperated gesture as she looked at him. Why was he so damn calm? Adele moaned and put her head in her hands. Sure she looked seductive in her tight dress and heels when she wasn’t being so ornery. “ Glad you can say such a thing, Damn it.” Adele let it out in one breath as she glared at him.
Adele looked at Blaine and shook her head. She needed a smoke. “ Im going to smoke” Adele stood and grabbed her small clutch and walked slowly towards the door pushing through everyone. Damn men. Adele almost hoped he would follow, and then the though made her crave even more nicotine. Ok, now she really hoped he was following. Adele slipped through the door and breathed in the night air. The cold air felt good against her hot skin and her headache decreased just a little. Adele ignored the couples milling about and made her way to her favorite spot on the wall. After another breath of air she took out her cigarettes and lighter and lit one, taking along hit. Waiting for Blaine to come, if he was going to anyways. She hoped she hadn’t pissed him off.

And you never had a chance Blaine watched with amused curiosity as Adele’s anger rolled off her tongue in the short, snappy comments she aimed at him. He smiled graciously, trying not to smirk and rile the young woman up even more. She was cute though, all wound up and angry about something which clearly didn’t warrant it. Blaine, in all honesty, wasn’t entirely sure what she was upset about. It could be manipulating her away from the sleazy guy or it could be refusing to sleep with her when she was too drunk to function. Either way, it seemed a slightly unfair reaction. Blaine wasn’t going to complain though- he knew better than to argue with a woman who had it set in her mind that she was right.
He nodded his head as Adele muttered her excuses and left, looking towards her drink as he wondered whether to follow. Either she was genuinely trying to get rid of him or she was playing hard to get. The fact Adele had followed him in the first place though suggested that she maybe was a bit more keen to see him than she had made out. With that thought, Blaine finished up his drink and placed it on the bar. Resentfully battling his way through the crowds again, Blaine headed towards the exit that Adele had used, feeling the effects of the coke kicking in. He was regretting that decision already. If he had realised he was going to see Adele tonight- the girl who he made out to that he had some sort of morals- Blaine would have stayed clean. Now, he looked just as screwed up as his brother, pumped full of drugs and not giving a shit.
”You know these things will kill you” he informed her dryly as he made it into the cold air, walking up behind Adele and gently removing the cigarette from her fingers. He raised it to his own mouth and took a long drag, facing up to the sky to blow the hot smoke into the night’s sky. Lowering his gaze back towards the beautiful girl in front of him, Blaine offered back the cigarette after his quick nicotine fix. ”Why so pissy tonight then sweet?”

Adele huffed again and took a long drag. Her foot rested against the wall she leaned back against the cold brick of the bar. Adele seriously needed to go camping for a while and get away from everything.Adeles parents had a cabin up in the mountains, seemed like a legit place to get away from it all. Adele flicked her ashes onto the ground as she thought, forgetting all about where she was.
The biggest thing going through her mind was Blaine. He made her brain explode each time they talked. He wouldn’t have sex with her, but god forbid he act like he didn’t want to. Adele thought he try to not act so.. soo like his Damn self at least. Adele took another hit and clenched her jaw closed. Damn men, got her head spinning. Adele looked at another couple and looked away again in disgust. Some things were not to be done in public.
Adele came back to reality when she heard Blaines voice. She didn’t look at him until he stole her cigarette. “ You’ll be the death of me faster than this thing.” Adele snarled and took the last hit of the cigarette and throwing it to the ground. She stepped on it and twisted her ankle slightly for emphasis. She leaned her blonde head against the wall and crossed her arms again. “ Me, pissy?” Adele laughed and rolled her eyes, “ “ That hardly seems like me. But if you most know, this has not been the best of weeks.” Adele looked at Blaine, venom still oozing from her cherry red lips. She cursed herself for being so young along with his curse of being so good looking.
Adele wished she could just quit all this, leave that behind. Most guys would have taken her home and never spoke to her again, not Blaine. Adele didn’t know what to do now. Adele started to wonder. Why was he so calm? Adele looked him up and down carefully. He didn’t smell like pot... Adele shook her head and rubbed her arms. Now that most of her anger had worn off she was cold.

And you never had a chance The coke was kicking in, Blaine was sure of that. He could feel a restless energy taking over his body and his heart had begun to thud quickly in his chest. It would never have a massive effect on him- his tolerance to drugs was too high for that- but he felt different none the less. This drug induced energy was no excuse for messing with this girl again though, was it? Could screwing around with an underage lass be blamed on illicit substances? Pushing these thoughts to the back of his mind, Blaine raised a cheeky smile at her grumbles. ”I’ll be the death of you hey?” he enquired, imagining either her dying of exasperation at his tireless flirting or with him in some Romeo and Juliet style pact. ”Like starcrossed lovers” he concluded, deciding to settle upon the second option.
Blaine watched as she crushed the cigarette underfoot, wondering if it was a thinly veiled metaphor for the crushing pain she would like to inflict upon him for being such a difficult and confusing specimen. He smiled up at her, possibly slightly nervously, and let her continue with her rant. ”You’ve seen me twice this week and it’s still not good enough” he teased ”What more do you want from your week?”. Probably for this mysterious guy to actually do something more than just lead her on. It was a silly question really.
For the moment though, Blaine just cautiously wrapped his arm around her to pull her close, having noted her feeling the cold. ”We’ll have to see what we can do about improving things sweet” he suggested, regretting it almost instantly. This suggestive flirting was only going to end badly if Blaine wouldn’t allow himself to go any further with the young woman. Which he wasn’t sure he could, even with the drugs seeping into his brain. He wanted to, god knows he wanted to, and the feel of her body next to his did nothing to help that, but was it right? Right and wrong had never particularly factored into Blaine’s decisions before but, much to his frustrations, they seemed to be playing a huge role right now.

Adele huffed another breath. What was with him tonight? Adele leaned back against the wall again. She chuckled. Damn, if he could be nothing but cocky. She smiled sweetly at him. “ If only you woke up next to me huh?” Adele rolled her eyes and clenched her jaw shut. Adele wasn’t entirely mad at him, just everything in general. Nothing was worse than a guy who kept acting like he was going to do something, or someone but never did. Adele looked around seemingly bored. Even though in all reality she was as hyper and awake as ever.
Adele didn’t pull away when he pulled her close, but instead loosened her tense body. Adele tensed up again at his comment. “ Oh that’s hilarious, just make me want you a whole lot more, than woo nothing. “ Adele popped her knuckles on her thumbs, her hands clenched into fist. Adele once again felt angry. There wasn’t any thinking involved in her words, her anger spoke for her. Her whole body seemed to hum with her anger and she didn’t hide it.
Adele muttered a string of curse words under her breath. Adele took a deep calming breath. Her claws felt like they were ready to come out, but she calmed herself. She closed her eyes and breathed another calming breath. Adele wanted another drink, bur she sure as hell wasn’t going back inside. Adele also wanted another smoke but had already fought that inner battle. She was glad for her very high heels, otherwise she would have felt short standing next to Blaine and it would just feed her Napoleon complex. With one last breath she opened her eyes but didn’t say a word.

If only he did wake up next to her, Blaine thought, a naughty smile forming on his face. ”I’d love to wake up with you sweets, nearly as much as I’d like to sleep with you in the first place, but..” Blaine’s voice kind of trailed off into thoughtful silence. It wasn’t the hugest of age gaps, people probably wouldn’t even care. Not that Blaine particularly worried what other people thought. Well.. except maybe the police. Another jail term- this time for sleeping with a minor- wouldn’t be the best start to America life.
Adele’s next words were well justified, pointing out the clear unfairness of leading her into believing he wanted her then dashing her hopes when he revealed he couldn’t do anything. Blaine stared down at the cigarette littered pavement, feeling her cold body as he embraced her in his arms. It always seemed a little unfair that girls had to dress in the skimpiest outfits all year round to go clubbing, as if it was more socially acceptable to freeze than to dare to cover your assets just a little bit. Guys definitely had it easier in that respect, Blaine concluded. Guys had it easier in most respects though he figured. This wasn’t easy though, holding the beautiful girl in his arms and not knowing if he dared to go any further. It was so clear that this was what they both wanted, it was laughable really that he couldn’t let himself just go through with it. Blaine was hardly a gentleman, or a guy to follow the rules. This was all so unlike him.
Spurred on by the coke and cushioning her in his arms, Blaine backed Adele up against the wall, moving in slowly until his lips were nearly with hers. A last smooch before backing off surely could hurt? His hot and lustful breath met with hers as he paused before gently laying a kiss onto her lips. Adele could most likely feel the quickened thud of his heart as they embraced, the cocaine now well into his system. After a few seconds, Blaine pulled back just a little, looking into Adele’s eyes with a sense of pained restraint fighting against lust and sexual frustration ”I’m sorry beautiful” he whispered, holding the gaze for a few more seconds before letting go of her. It was a humble apology, one which showed that despite how he felt, he couldn’t go any further. Not now.

Adele refused to say anything, openeding her mouth would unleash the major bitch inside her and no one wanted to see that. Adele balled her fist and silently prayed for her anger to melt away. The more she thought about why she was angry, the angrier she became. Adele concentrated on breathing slowly and wistfully. Adele angers heated her blood, her skin just felt like a tight thing of clothing and she was about to jump out of it. Her nerves were on end. Adele unclenched her aching fist and laid her hands straight on the side of her legs. Adele rubbed her tongue along the back of her teeth.
She was amidst her own thoughts when he backed her up against the wall. Adele wanted to know were this led and she didn’t try to fight back. Adele looked at Blaine, her eyes alight with fury as she looked at him. “What the hell is he doing?” She didn’t have to wait long for an answer. Adele kissed him back with as much resentment as she felt. The kiss was short but long enough to make Adele even more mad when he pulled back from it. She clenched her jaw again and balled her hands in to fist. Sorry? For what? Adele lips pulled into scowl.
Damn him! Damn him to hell! Adele couldn’t handle herself anymore. She almost fell when he let go of her. She took a step towards him to push a red fingernail into his chest. “ You little-” Adele didn’t finish, instead she took an last step towards him and stopped her eyes throwing daggers. Adele looked him up and down. Something was off. Adele took one last glance and stood right up against him. Adele brought her hand up to slap him and almost to fast for her to see it gave him a lovely slap in the face. Adele smiled.

It was surprising really that Adele had even waited until after the kiss to unleash hell on Blaine. Many girls as angry as she was would have refused the kiss all together. Adele was different though and her anger didn’t seem to be just plain annoyance, but an intricate mix of frustration and longing. It was a complicated situation, and one which Blaine had just made a lot worse with the kiss. Way to send mixed signals-love and then rejection, love and then once more rejection.
With barely a blink of shock and no sign of recoil, Blaine accepted the hard slap across his face. He’d deserved it- he wasn’t going to argue that fact. In fact, even as his cheek stung, Blaine raised a smile. She was such a feisty girl, tough and confident. The sort of independent chick that Blaine couldn’t get enough of. He studied Adele’s angry posture and the way her lips scrunched together in a show she was too pissed off for words. The wind caught her long blonde hair and swished it around the features of her beautiful face and despite her perfection, Blaine knew he could do nothing.
And so, not lowering the smile from his face, Blaine turned and began to walk towards the club ”You know where I am if you need me” he called without even turning to make eye contact, following the loud sounds of the music back into the door and towards the dance floor. Passing the people grinding against each other, Blaine headed towards the bar, ordering a double and quickly downing it. If coke wasn’t going to sort his night out, then alcohol would have to instead. He wasn’t sure if Adele would head back inside or go home and, on reflection, Blaine felt a little bad if she was going home for just leaving her to go alone. Wow, maybe he really was turning into a gentleman.
