These days things had became really hard for young Syeria but she was the only one who could really take care of her older brother even if he was the one supposed to be taking care of her.She was starting to feel alone in this world and it was driving her crazy while her brother takes off on his days at a time drinking binges leaving her at home to fend for herself until he decides to come home,hungover or still drunk and demands her attention. The more time went on Kizzy was watching Colin turn into their father and in this story she knows how it will end which was slowly breaking her heart.

It was late in the evening when Syeria finished cleaning up after dinner to start on her homework upstairs in her room,She needed the space away from her brother who was currently passed out drunk downstairs and would remain there until the morning if she was lucky.”God I hate chemistry! Where is Talia when I need her??”Kizzy muttered under her breath as she studied for a chem exam she has the next morning.

[sorry this is late. family stuff came up and I had to be away dealing with it for a few days]

Having a best friend who would rather be intoxicated every minute of his life, rather then enjoy the company of someone that genuinely cared about him but unneeded stress on Thomas. It was almost a daily routine: Colin got drunk, Colin flaked on Thomas, Thomas ended up baby-sitting (in a way) Syeira. It was oddly predictable and as stressful as it was, Thomas didn't mind it one bit. It was part of the unusual dynamic the two boys shared. Thomas undoubtedly still believed that Colin was his best friend, especially since those two had shared memories like no other (which mostly filled in to Colin's need of alcohol). Thomas would still do anything for his friend because he knew that deep down that Colin would do anything if Thomas really needed it. He pulled down his flannel button up shirt as he made his way to the door, his sunglasses pulled over his eyes to shield the unyielding plight of the sun. Thomas was making his usual stop to the o'riley household to check up on them like he did every day. In some way he was the real guardian of Syeria, helping her with homework when she needed it or taking care of her when Colin couldn't.

Thomas felt extremely weird being around Syeira, but at the same time it must of felt comfortable for the girl to have a guy around who wasn't intoxicated. Maybe it was the odd age difference between the two that made Thomas feel uncomfortable. The gap was pretty huge and it didn't feel right to Thomas that he actually felt feelings for Syeira that were more then his 'best friends little sister'. Thomas often enjoyed his heart to hearts with the young girl, more so then with girls closer to his age. Thomas knocked on the door, his hand resting on the door frame as he awaited for someone to open it. Part of him hoped that Colin was out doing something so he could spend time with Syeira, knowing that if Colin did come home he could say he was 'helping her with homework' or 'watching her while you were gone'. Either way he knew Colin would fall for it and Syeira would surely play along.

Kizzy really hated being alone and it was bad because technically she wasn't to do the small fact her older brother was drunkenly passed out downstairs on the couch.She sighed once more as flipped through the pages of her chemistry book,still not really getting anywhere with it yet only a handful of people could really help her with it since it was such a hard subject but there was no where in hell she was going to fail this class.The relationship between Syeria and Colin had become the opposite of what it was soposed to be here lately,She was mother hen when he came home drunk or had friends over it was not a healthy thing for a almost sixteen year old.However,there was one friend of Colin's that was always watching over her which she thanked god everyday for him being around.Thomas Lloyd was her brother's best friend but those two were polar opposites now but he still came around.

Kizzy closed her book once again and took her glasses off and placed them on her bedside table before deciding to go downstairs for something to drink.She looked over at Colin sleeping on the couch and shook her head at him,making her miss having a mother around but a knock on the door got her attention."Who could that be?"she thought to herself as she walked towards the front door to answer it.

When she opened the front door she saw Thomas standing there and the young girl became all smiles rather quickly,nothing made Kizzy more excited in this manner to jump up in Thomas's arms to give him a huge hug."Tommy!!"she said happily.To some people including her brother would excuse her of having feelings for the lad if they had seen this display but in truth she really did think he was cute really cute but she wasn't sure how she felt,when it came to Thomas Lloyd she was confused.

Thomas became all smiles as he was quickly grabbed by the fourteen year old her, his arms surrounding her body as he gave her a kiss on her head. "Hey Kizzy!" he greeting as he lifted her up in the air and twirled her around before setting her gently back onto the ground. Had Colin seen this happen, he probably would have freaked out and attempted to kill him, but he was already passed out on the couch due to his constant drinking. In alot of ways Colin and Thomas were polar opposites except somehow it worked out for the best. Thomas was the nice guy of the two - understanding and passionate about all of the little things in life. Colin on the other hand was difficult and rude, only when he was under the influence. These two had little in common yet they worked out for the best.

"Colin's out?" he asked sarcastically as he peered at the young girl. It had been awhile since he last spoke to Kizzy, and already he felt as if he had just spoke to her yesterday. It amazed Thomas how bubbly and exciting she could be, especially when he was around. He wasn't sure it was because she liked him, or if she just appreciated him for being around when her brother wasn't. Either way it left Thomas confused, but he didn't really care. "What have you been doing?"

Syeria wasn't usually the bubbly type but whenever Thomas came around she was always all smiles and in good spirits.He and her brother had been friends for along time now but he started coming around more often here lately,she wasn't sure if it was to keep Colin from being a jerk or just to keep her company either way it made her unbelievably happy.She looked up at him as she hugged him tightly,"I have missed you Tommy!"She said sweetly before letting go of him finally.

Some people would say Kizzy was rather naive for her age but she really wasn't except for when it came to boys. She shook her head once again as she listened to him ask about her brother,"You know better. He is passed out on the couch and has been there for several hours now."she said unhappily before reaching her his hand and pulling him towards the kitchen.

"I'm so glad you are here because i've been trying to work on my chemistry homework but it's not working out so well."She said to him as she looked up at him with a glum expression,there was nothing more then getting bad grades Kizzy hated.She bit ocd about it and made her rather angry.

Thomas peered his head toward Colin, shaking in disgust before focusing his attention back to Kizzy. Boy, she was one attractive young girl - the kind that was surely going to bring trouble to poor Thomas. Being twenty-one was the one road block that stood in his way from making a move toward Syeira because he didn't exactly want to risk the chance of going to jail. He knew that Syeira wouldn't have told anyone had they been together, he trusted her with that much, but the idea of someone finding out frightened Thomas like no other. It wasn't like it would be a slap on a wrist, or a 'just don't do it again', it was the idea of jail time and being labeled a pedophile for life that made Thomas want to avoid contact with the girl. Shaking his head he took a deep breath, inhaling sharply as he refocused his attention on to Kizzy.

"I missed you too Kizzy!" he exclaimed before peering back toward Colin. He knew that Colin wasn't going to awaken anytime soon, but just in case he knew that he was going to have to keep his voice down. "We should go elsewhere. I don't want to risk the chance of waking him up. You know how he can be sometimes.." he warned the girl, unaware that she potentially could have taken what he said as an invitation of some sort - all of which wasn't necessarily the case. He sighed, his stomach grumbling, indicating he was hungry. Truth was he was starving. He had been running around all day and hadn't gotten a chance to eat. "I'm not particularly good at chemistry, but I can give it a shot." he stated with a light smirk on his face. He knew how serious Kizzy could get about school, the pressure of getting good grades ahead of her.

The thing is that Syeria's older brother was extremely protective of when it came to the opposite sex,he barely let her hang out with her guy friends unless it was Eli Allen because he thought he was gay,what could Kizzy say?Colin was a real douche most of the time but here lately he didn't seem to notice anything or care unless she was doing for him.She moved ahead of Thomas and leaned against the refrigerator and looked up at him."We can go up to my room for you to help me with my homework but i really don't see him waking up anytime soon."She said with a huffy expression before sighing again.


Kizzy's mind went totally blank for a moment before she started to think about the homework that she was putting off to talk to Tommy but hopefully he could lend some help or he could suck at it as bad as she did.She finally drew her attention back on him and scanned him from head to toe-he really was a handsome guy but their age gap would get him into trouble which is not a good thing at all not to mention he would never look at her that way right?She bit her lip as she suddenly looked past him at the rooster clock on the wall."It would be fantastic if you could help me but i understand if you suck at it too,god knows i can't get it for the life of me,i'm so annoyed with it..i wanna chuck my book out the window."she stated as a smile formed on her petite face.

To give Thomas some sort of respect, he genuinely cared about Kizzy, perhaps more then in a brother-sister sort of way. The emotions he felt when he was surrounded by her grew to be unlike any he had ever felt with a girl, at least he thought that. For one thing his mood suddenly went from happy to ecstatic, her outgoing nature around him giving him a reason to enjoy her company. He nodded toward the girl as she mentioned the idea of going to her room to help her with her chemistry assignment, knowing well enough that Colin was not going to wake up anytime soon and that they were perfectly okay to converse downstairs. Thomas wanted an excuse to get her alone, a place with limited to no interruptions. He enjoyed her company, like he hoped she enjoyed his, and it was perfect.

Thomas looked down to her and smiled. "It's completely up to you." he reassured her as he leaned his arm on the refrigerator behind her. "I mean, I am fine with either decision." It was true. He wouldn't of cared. It actually might have been better if they stayed downstairs if Colin had woken up because he could have helped her with her homework or checked in on her. If Colin caught Thomas in her room...he'd be dead. Still, Thomas wasn't afraid of getting caught because it was unlikely he woke up anyways. "I'm not bad, but its been awhile since I had to take chemistry." he stated, referencing that he hadn't had to take chemistry since he was in highschool...which had been years ago. For now, he was going to forget about the gigantic age gap. He was here for Kizzy and he planned on keeping it that way. Sometimes you had to have an open mind about things, and fortunately for Thomas...this was one of those times.

Syeria laid her head against the door of the refrigerator as she listened to what he had to say still watching him observing him once more, hoping that he wouldn't notice. She couldn't help but stare at his lips as she was wondering what it would be like to kiss him which made her cheeks turn really red. Tommy would freak out if he knew what she was thinking about and she was praying he wouldn't notice the moronic blushing either, she nervously stepped away from where she had been standing and crossed her arms over her chest before looking up at him once more.”Let’s go up to my room just in case he does wake up, I don’t want him pounding your face in because he thinks you are making a move on me.”she said suddenly, rolling her eyes at what she said. “It’s not like you would but we both know how stupid he can be.”She added, half wishing he would because she was attracted to him which is a dangerous thing for the both of them.

As of right now in Syeria's life there had been only one guy she had liked but he didn't feel the same way so Kiz had given up however the attraction she felt towards Thomas was way too strong for her taste. Another rejection wasn't something she really wanted to deal with all before she had her first kiss.
Kizzy shifted her body weight again as she stood on her tiptoes randomly looking over at her friend once more with a smile,"Well let's go work on it then?"she said.

Okay, so Thomas had to admit that he was shaking at the thought of going into Kizzy's room alone, but not because of his fear of Colin waking up. It was the fear of what he himself would do once he got a chance alone with her. Thomas was a nice guy, and he enjoyed spending time with Syeria so a moment like this should have been easy for them both, except for the emotional tension that Thomas felt between the girl. He struck his arm to the fridge, propping himself up as he leaned halfway toward the girl. He smiled to himself as her face went red. He halfway wondered what it was that embarrassed her, instead laughing to himself. "To the room it is." he joked as he lightly jogged toward the staircase. Thomas had to admit that saying that felt weird, his skin turning an unusual shade of red as he realized how awkward he sounded. He looked at Colin's unconscious body once more, fearful what would of happened if he happened to wake up while Thomas was still in the house.

Thomas waited patiently for Kizzy to make her way toward the staircase, his arm extended as if he was ushering her up the stairs, only to mumble "after you" as she made her way up. He took a shallow breath, his eyes slowly watching her as she walked up the stairs. If he could have it his way, he would have pulled her aside and kissed her, but he knew that now wasn't the time to pull any moves, at least not yet. Thomas had to be sure, positive, that she was even remotely into him. Sure, she seemed that way but maybe it was Thomas hoping she was into him. "so what do you need help with?" he asked, his hand reaching for her already opened chemistry book.

<sub>Syeria smiled up at Thomas before she passed him towards the stairs but lightly brushed her body up against him without really noticing it had happened. She waited for him to make his way up the staircase and reached for his hand to lead him down the hall towards her bedroom as she opened the door and brought him inside. The young girl was not concerned about her brother right now, honestly it was rather hard for her to think about anything else since the object of her affections was standing right next to her. He really made her heart skip a few beats and it was the very first time in her life anyone has ever made her feel this way it was awkward but oddly comfortable.


She finally turned around and sat on the edge of her bed and crossed her legs as she watched him pick her book up."Right now we're working on Organic Chemistry and i don't understand one bit of it."she answered finally with a pout while crossing her arms over her chest once more."Do you know anything about it?"She asked</sub>

Brushing against the girl was enough to cause a smile to crack on poor Thomas' face. He was really in a bad place with the young girl and he knew it, but something told him that it was actually okay to pursue this girl. Sure, he knew of the consequences that he would face had someone found out, but in this town no one seemed absorbed in other peoples information. Thomas didn't have enemies, at least he thought he didn't, so no one would care that he was interested in Syeira (especially if he kept to himself). Brushing against the girl, Thomas made the conscious effort to squeeze her hand firmly as she led him in the direction of the room.

Thomas made a mental image as he charted into deadly waters as he made it to her room, noting how clean it was for a sixteen year old girl's room. As she spoke, Thomas had to admit that he hardly knew anything when it came to Chemistry, but he had partly lied to Kizzy so that he could spend alone time with her. "Uh, not really my topic but lets see some examples." he said, peeking at her from the corner of his eye as he grabbed the book and placed it on his lap. He sighed as he eyed the book, unsure of what to make of the text. "Okay." he confessed. "I have to admit, I may not be as good as Chemistry as I remembered I was in high school." he said, feeling rather old as he mentioned high school.

<sub>Syeria watched him flip through the pages of her chemistry book silently from her bed as she fiddled with her silver necklace around her neck out of habit while other thoughts ran through her mind like how he really had a cute butt and could not help but wonder what he looked like shirtless. Kizzy may be naive in most areas like boys or more better put,men but she didn't always think so innocently.


After he sat down she watched him close the book and listened to what he had to say which only made a smile form on her face."It's ok i'll just have to ask Elijah or get a tutor but your company is better then working on boring old homework anyways."She said shyly once more and then uncrossed her legs and plopped them over a body pillow that was at the end of her bed.</sub>
