Reed walked along the seemingly empty lake. The only people around on a hot sunny day like this were the lonley fisherman who had nothing better to do. Reed had almost walked the entire lake, today he needed to get away. He found out his best friend since Grade was now engaged. Eventhough she had always been oder Reed had always liked, heck he practilly loved her. Now he had to throw that all away and forget everything it was all gone all of it. Every last bit of his hopes shattered by some man she didn't even seem to love. The news had turned his life upside down and now he couldn't even think of talking to anyone besides her. Reed had rolled his jeans up to his knees earlier so he could step in the cold refreshing water. They had use to come here all the time to play to have fun, they tod each other everything. Now reed held his shirt in one hand and his shoes in the other. It was to hot for a shirt and he had taken his shoes off before he got in the water. He trudged along in the water the mud sticking to him and pulling him down more than anything. He happened to look up at the same time he saw a famliar face wade into view. It was Amy! Amy! Amy! Reed shouted as he trudged toward her. He couldnt exactly see her face but hse knew that was her alright. You couldn't forget such a beautiful face like her's it shined like the sun and even brighter when she smiled her radiant smile.It appeared as if she was alone he didn't see anyone close except for one of the fisherman. He ran over to her thinking about all the nights he had spent talking to the moon just praying to see her again at least one more time,before she had to change forever. Who cared about age difference or at least three years? Maybe he just liked more mature women. There had been many nights though he had wished they had been in the same grade not some stupid kindergarner and a third grader.

Amy held her diary in her hand and scribbed in it with her pencil. It was one of those days she wanted to be just alone, in a place where nobody would bother her . The lake side had to be one of her favorite places to come around, any time. Only a few of her friends knew that she used to come here all by herself. Amy wasn;t the type of here all time, only when she wanted to be all alone and talk to herself and think about everything peacefully. There was a battlefield going on in her head. Her parents had engaged her to someone she hardly knew and there wasn't anything she could do to change that. For the sake of her dear parents, she pulled on the look of ''Oh i'm so happy '' even if she wasn't. She was on love with someone else. . someone who maybe a few years younger to him but he was her best friend and they were very much happy together. But not for long. She had to break up with him. She wans't the type to cheat on anyone. She wanted to be loyal to Alan and to Reed as well, also she didn't wanted to lead on Reed with the fake hopes that they will end up together someday. That didn't hold any chance, especially not now since she was already taken. She wiped her tear that rolled down her cheek and fell on the blank page of her diary. Life was all about making sacrifices and she had made just one of them, there was a long way to go now, she thought and sniffed.
A very familar voice called out her name and she turned her head to see who it was. It was Reed. Usually her face lit up to see him but today. . even facing him was going to be hard. How was she going to explain the whole thing to him? She sighed. She closed her diary and placed her diary on the bench. Standing up she walked towards him. '' So I guess you've heard the bad news and it's true. You're expecting an explanation, isn't it? All I can say is that it just happened for the sake of my parents happiness and against my wish but I'll with it because you know I can't let my parents down. I just can't she said, her voice could explain that she was on the verge of breaking down into tears again.

Amy's silly explanations didn't matter to Reed they didn't make sense and he really just didn't care. He pulled her closer to him and wiped away her tears. Smelling her rose-scented hair.
It downright angered him to think some other guy was holding her like this and had all the free will in the world to do so and more. The anger made his bones shake but instead of acting out or even expressing his anger he just held her closer. Kissing the top of her hair. Even though he was three years older, he was almost a head taller than her, not that it mattered it just made him feel less small towards her.
The clouds whipped by gray and gloomy, the lake almost quivered in anticipation for more water. The trees bent from the wind, the fisherman began to pack up their things. Amy's hair whipped around them filling there embrace with the smell of roses. Even though it was getting dark Reed could swear it was bright just around them."I'm never gonna let you go" Reed was being honest in a way he didn't ever want to break their sweet embrace ruining the last moment's they would have together.

He was taller than her so she had to look up at him as he pulled her closer and wiped away her tears. For him this may be nothing but for Amy, this was her life. Her parents had decided her future for her and she couldn't change it unless Alan did something that made her consider to break off her engagement with her. He didn't give her a single chance, he was such a gentleman and so caring. Honestly, he always made her feel happy. She was spending most of her time with Alan, hanging out and getting to know each other. It was awkward for both of them in the begining but now they were settling in well in each other's company and able to manage to understand each other to some extend but Alan couldn't replace Reed.
Reed wasn't just Amy's best friend, she loved him too much. Most of the people didn't know that the two of them were dating, because of their age difference. Hell, he was like three years younger than him. Not that Amy was ashamed of herself but it was tad odd. Which was the reason why her mother wasn't able to figure out that Amy had something going on with Reed,since everyone took them as nothing but good friends. She closed her eyes as he planted a kiss on her forehead. She put her arms around his massive chest, hugging him. '' I don't it, either but you've to understand. I am engaged..'' she moved back and showed him her ring. '' I can't cheat him on him or my parents. ''

Amy showing Reed the engagement ring had just made everything so much more surreal. He wanted to throw the blasted ring into the deep lake, maybe some lucky fisherman would find it. Reed only wanted to make Amy happy. That had been his whole reason for living, to see her lovely smile every morning when he woke up. Now that was all ruined, never to be.That's what he had done his whole laugh. In kindergarten he would follow her around and ask her questions about third grade or other such things. He would make thing's for her and do anything she wanted him to. Reed couldn't possibly ask her to cheat on her fiance, or in her mind her parent's. Arranged marriages were a stupid thing. Reed felt as if his life was a old sappy movie he would never believed that anything like that would ever become a reality, or at least for him anyways. Reed would do almost anything to make his beloved Amy happy.

Amy showed him the ring in order to snap him into the reality that everything between them was over. He had to move on just the way she was planning to move on. She wasn't the type to cheat on anyone, neither his parents, nor his fiance or reed. they didn't deserve to be treated like this. She wanted to keep her parents pleased, her fiance happy too and she knew she was going to hurt reed but it was for greater betterment.she didn't deserve reed, he deserved someone who loved him truly that she wouldn't mess around with reed's and upset him. She put her hands on his chest and looked at him, there were tears in her eyes and she could see the pain in his eyes too. Her hand touched his face gently. '' I know I've messed up again but this time, there is no way out for me. I've let you down again..''

Reed was so upset, her touch felt hot and burning against his face. He wasn’t mad at her, he was mad at her family, the guy she was to marry. Reed gently moved her hand from his face. Kissing the frail gentle hand, then letting it go. Reed didn’t dare anything else, he was afraid too. He loved Amy too much to ask for her to break her heart. It would be so selfish of him to ask of such a thing. He looked her in the eye. Words didn’t explain the heartbreak he felt. Shaking his head, what a fool he was. “I would never ask that of you Amy, I was such a foolish kid, this is all my fault I brought myself into this.” Reed said everything very fast, getting what he could off his chest. He could hear his heart breaking,, shattering.
Why? What had he done so wrong? Why didn’t her parents like him well enough to let him marry Amy? Reed knew she was in love with the other guy, and there was nothing he could do, he felt helpless. He shook his head one last time and turned around, walking away, from his troubles.
