“Mom, going to Mallory’s for a girl’s night. I will be home by 1 o’clock. Love, Karissa.” Hmm, yeah, that is believable enough. Karissa set down her pen and stuck the sticky note to her mom’s bedroom door for her to find when she got home. It was around 11 o’clock on a Friday night and Karissa‘s mom had called her boyfriend, Jim, suddenly craving a super greasy burger. The joys of being pregnant was now Karissa had the opportunity to get out of the house without being asked five hundred questions about where she was going and who she was with. Of course it wasn’t like that until Jim came around. Karissa’s mom used to be cool and laid back. Now Karissa had a strict 9 o’clock curfew on school nights and 12 o’clock on weekends. So, of course, tonight she would probably have her mom waiting up for her when she got home, but it would be worth it. Tonight she was meeting Jared on the beach. She had always thought the idea of meeting up with someone late at night on the beach watching the waves crash in would be so romantic and now she finally had that one person she could do that with. There was honestly no one else she would rather be with. Jared was the perfect person for her..aside from his ONE flaw. They had always been secretive about their relationship from the beginning. First it was Karissa’s fault, she wanted to wait a little while before going public. Then, as the relationship progressed, Karissa was ready to tell everyone. She wanted everyone to know that the perfect hunk of a guy, was her’s. They never had gone public with things though, and she wasn’t quite sure why. She had never gotten just a straight up answer from him about it. She was going to try to tonight though. She got dressed, did her hair and makeup and sent Jared a quick text before getting in her car. “Meet me at our spot on the beach? Xoxo Karissa” She got in her car and drove to their spot, happy to see that it was deserted and went and waited for Jared to show up.

The football game had ended early tonight. It had been an easy win for the Lipton High School boys, and most of Jared's friends were off to celebrate. It wasn't often that they got a win this big; they had won fifty-five to nineteen easily, and Jared was stoked. Most of his friends intended to go celebrate this victory with a party or two, possibly even hooking up with their girlfriends. Jared couldn't say that he wasn't up for this, but most of his friends thought he was single. Or, in a 'complicated' relationship with the head cheerleader of their rival school. The reality of the matter was, Jared wasn't in a complicated relationship at all. He was happily taken; he just couldn't tell his friends about her. Karissa Scott. She was a beautiful girl, and Jared found himself falling more and more in love with her each day. He just couldn't tell his friends about her. Karissa wasn't as popular and Jared was certain that his reputation would take a hard hit once someone found out. Shallow? Maybe a bit. But, Karissa had initially agreed. It had been her idea.
So, Jared had let his friends go off to celebrate on their own, claiming to be heading off to visit his 'complicated' girlfriend instead. His friends had all went their own ways by this point, and Jared sat in his truck at the school parking lot. He debated on how to spend his evening, preferring to not go home to his mother just yet. The night was young and he had plenty of time to waste. Almost on cue, his phone lit up. “Meet me at our spot on the beach? Xoxo Karissa” Jared's eyes skimmed over his cell phone screen in a rush, a small smile playing on his lips.
"be there in ten. -jd." Sure enough, Jared wasted little time from that point. He drove straight to the beach from the school. It was around 11'o'clock, so the beach was rather empty. This made it easier to find their spot on the beach. It was where Jared had spent most of his time with Karissa. Being in a secret relationship made it hard to go anywhere but here. This end of the beach was rather secluded. It was perfect for them.
Jared spotted a familiar head of blond hair up ahead. Grinning widely, he made his way up to the figure. He wrapped his arms around her from behind and kissed her cheek softly. "Hey beautiful."

Karissa felt her phone vibrate in her pocket and pulled it out quickly, giddy with excitement already. She sat down for a bit only to get up again and begin to pace. She always got this way when she knew she was going to see Jared. She had to be up and doing something otherwise she went crazy. Karissa was always like that, always wanting to be up and about but when Jared was coming to see her, it made it ten times worse.
It was only about ten minutes but to Karissa it felt like an hour. Finally though, she felt those strong arms wrap around her and her smile got even wider, if that’s possible. ”Hey beautiful.” Just his voice had the ability to give her chills. She turned around wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him. “Hello handsome.” She said, smiling at him. “How was the game tonight? Sorry I couldn’t make it.” She usually tried to go to every game, to support Jared, but she had to work the late shift tonight and had only been home for about a half an hour before she had left to go out and meet Jared.
She took his hand and began walking down the beach, sticking one foot into the water for a moment before continuing to walk. She turned her head to look at him for a moment, happy he was her’s. Now if only the rest of the school could know that. She thought, a bit sadly, before turning away to look out over the water again.

It felt nice to be close to Karissa again. For a second, Jared almost felt guilty that he couldn't show Karissa off to his friends. She was such a pretty girl; he really didn't deserve her. But, Jared knew that he couldn't show her off to his friends. No matter how much he wanted to, he knew that his friends would never have it. His popularity would all be gone. The fake life that he had spent both years of his high school career, and part of junior high, building up would all be gone. It would be a waste of all his efforts.
So, for now, he'd have to settle for this - their secretive relationship. It was somewhat romantic, right? Girls liked mysterious or secretive things... or, at least, Jared assumed that they did. So, Karissa was probably happy with him. He brushed this off, quickly kissing Karissa back as his hands shifted down to her waist. Her smile caused him to give a partial grin in return. It was funny at how sometimes Karissa just seemed to make him realize the simple things.
"The game went good," Jared smirked, his mind shifting back to their landslide of a victory. He linked hands with Karissa, letting their fingers intertwine as they walked. "We creamed the other team! Fifty-five to nineteen." Karissa usually made it a point to be at all the games. Jared admired her for that. Sure, they were secretive about their relationship, but Jared meant well. They still acted like a couple. People were just dense sometimes.
"It's cool. There's always more games. How was work?" He winked at her, walking at the edge of the water at her side. It was getting dark, and it was nice to smell the salty water. It'd be a perfect evening for swimming, Jared mused. But, he was content right now at Karissa's side. What more could a guy want? [/blockquote][/justify]

She was still just as giddy with excitement as they walked down the beach. She always got this way around Jared, or even just hearing his name. It was great to know they were together, even if it was a secret, and she knew (as cliche as it might sound being a teenager) they'd be together for a long time. It made her smile just thinking about all the years they would have to look forward to in the future. She smirked as he mentioned their victory. "Somehow that does not surprise me. Good job though, hun, I am proud." She said smiling and giving him a quick peck on the cheek. She rolled her eyes at the mention of work. Her job was the typical teenage job, working at a fast food joint as a cashier and occasionally flipping burgers or cooking fries.
"Work was...work. Horrible of course. People are so rude." Jared was usually the one she vented to about rude, obnoxious customers at work but tonight was different. She quickly pushed the thoughts about work from her mind. She did not want to vent or even mention anything else about work. Tonight it was just them caught up in their own world. No one else. Nothing else. She noticed him eyeing the water and smirked, pulling her hand from his. "You wanna swim" She asked, smirking. "I mean, I dont have my swimming suit but I suppose this could work." SHe said, pulling off her shorts and top to reveal her matching pink bra and underwear and slowly starting to pull him towards the water.
