ryder chuckled slightly at her remark. he knew that she hated that nickname, but it fit her so well sometimes. she hated to clean, and basically, do anything. she was a princess, with most things. he looked at her, and smirked. he placed his plate down on the table, and sat down. he would shove this food into his mouth in ten minutes, and then get his kids up. he looked at her and said" nic, you might wanna eat now. i'm telling you this to be nice." he laughed, and then continued on to eat his plate.
he was done in less than ten minutes, and was still hungry. he leaned back in his chair, and placed his hand lightly on his stomach, and said" it's still hungry, babe." he looked at her, and said" that's what happens when you're busy, kid." he looked at her when she said the next comment, thinking that she wasn't really happy with that. he sighed, though. he didn't care. he would do what he wanted, and when he wanted. he sighed, and said" it makes good money, nic." he laughed, and said" well, off to get the children, now. they need to wake up." he moved quickly, placing his plate on the table, and then walked away, hoping she'd follow. he turned and said" come on, nic. they have to get up, before they sleep too long. remember, you bently, me kaylee."

Ryder told her that she'd probably want to eat now, and Nicole sighed. She stood up, making her way to the counter and grabbing the plate that he had set out. "Fine." She carefully placed a small scoop of noodles onto her plate and then a bit of chicken. After adding just a bit of sauce, she returned to the table to sit back down next to Ryder. It wasn't much food, but Nicole hadn't even been one to eat a lot. She wouldn't go as far to call herself a 'health nut' or one of those constant dieters, but she did like to watch what she ate.
Taking a small bite of her pasta, Nicole took her time to eat the food. When Ryder had finished eating about ten minutes later, Nicole still had a good portion of her food to go. She smirked lightly, rolling her eyes at his comment. "Eat more? Here, you want some of this?" She pushed her plate toward him, laughing slightly. The food was really good, but Nicole didn't think that she'd finish it before the kids got up.
She just nodded as Ryder stated that the career made good money. He must have picked up on her concern or disapproval. She gave a small smile, deciding to just let it go. She had a long time to work that out, anyhow. They wouldn't be getting together anytime soon. They were just... friends. She left her plate on the table then, standing up and following after him. "yeah, yeah, I'm coming! You'll have to show me where Ben's room is." She grinned, following him on down the hall. The hour really had gone by quickly, but it would be nice to see her children once more.

he watched her grab her own plate. the way she ate sometimes, scared him. he really did have concern for how she was with eating. ever since they were little, she was like that though. she was always so tiny, and petite, and always, watched what she ate. he knew that kaylee would be that way too. she was just like her mother, in many ways. he sighed, and then heard her remark about eating the rest of hers.
his head shook, and said" nic, you need to eat. you need energy, food like this gives you that." he worried about her alot. alittle too much sometimes. he sighed, and then said" eat up, nicbear." he wanted her to have energy, and be able to take this. thier kids were very hard to deal with. he would admit that. kaylee was pretty much like her. the princess of the house. she needed to get her way, or it was basically hell for the rest of the day. but, bently was completly ryder. he was relaxed, with the mild temper when you pushed him too far. but, he did have some little quirks that reminded him of nice.
he smiled as he looked at her, and said" yeah, yeah, i know." he stepped close to ben's door, cracking it open, and said" he's easy to wake up. he's sort of nice in the morning. not sure where the heck he gets it." he laughed as he walked to the door across the hall that was kaylee's room.

Nicole could feel Ryder's gaze on her, probably somewhat concerned. He had always seemed concerned when it came to her eating habits. No matter how many times Nicole swore that she was healthy, and promised that she really did eat, he never seemed to believe her. She'd been this way as long as she could remember. Even at twelve, when they had started to date years and years ago, she had been a light eater. It was probably why she was still so petite to this day. "Ry, I'm fine. I eat plenty," She assured him with a grin. She took a few more bites of her food, holding back an eye roll. His concern was sweet, but it was unnecessary. She was fine.
She tried to hurry with the rest of her eating, hoping to clear her plate before he said anymore. Once it was mostly empty, she left it on the table next to Ryder's and followed him up the stairs. She was somewhat worried. She'd just seen her kids for a few minutes earlier that day. From a distance. What would they say now that she was really, truly back? And, she almost wondered if Ryder would tell them that she was their mother or just let them remember her as his friend for now. She pondered this as they made the short walk to Ben and Kaylee's rooms. He opened the boy's door, and Nicole smiled, shoving her thoughts to the side. She'd find out her answers soon enough.
"Between the two of us, it's a wonder how either of them ended up normal." Nicole giggled. She wasn't a morning person and neither was Ryder, from what she had remembered. Plus, they both had some what of a temper. Ryder's more direct and hers more... well, indirect. She just did subtle things to unnerve someone when she was mad at them. Their children really didn't stand a chance at being normal. And, yet, Ryder seemed to think that they were.
Ryder disappeared into Kaylee's room and Nicole took a deep breathe. She pushed Bently's door on open, fiddling around for the light switch. After finding it, she made her way over to her sleeping boy's bed. He was so cute, she couldn't help but to grin. She felt bad waking him up. Kneeling down by his side, Nicole shook him slightly. "Bently... Ben, it's time to get up, honey. Dinner is ready." She cooed softly. Boy had she missed him.

ryder smiled at nic. he just rolled his eyes at the comment. no matter what she had said about it, he still worried. he continued to worry about her even know she was the one person that broke his heart, and yet, she was still the one that every piece wanted truly. he sighed, not trying to really pay attention to those thoughts. sometimes, he was suprised on how he managed, but he did it for these kids of his.
he let nicole take care of waking up thier son. thier son, thier daughter, it was something that he couldn't really get used to saying at all. he was used to it being him, and he knew it would take some time to get used to it. but, he was willing to share the responsability and everything else that came with it. but, sometimes, it was hard. he had a certain way of doing things, and he knew that nicole didn't know them yet.
he stepped into the room, and turned the light on. kaylee's room was decked out princess cinderalla style. ryder always imagined his little girl being crazy about the princess, especailly cinderalla. for some reason, he always seemed to like her the most for kids. he didn't really like too much of the kid shows that they had out now adays. he stepped over to her crib, and looked down at his little baby girl. how she looked so innocent, he longed to keep that look on her forever. he smiled, and said" princess, it's time to wake." a slight grunt escaped her lips. just like daddy used to do. he smiled, and said" dinner is ready, and my friend is dying to see you."
he smiled, and then picked her up from her crib. she fit easily in his arms, like a puzzle piece. he held her gently, yet with a firm grip. her little head layed on his shoulder, as he took off out of the room. he stopped before the door to bently's room, and then decided to let nicole take care of it.

Nicole shook Bently once more, a small smile playing on her lips. God, it really had been too long. She felt a slight ache at the thought. Bently or Kaylee didn't even realize that she was their mother. She loved them, and wanted to change that. The more she thought about this, however, the more that this just seemed surreal. She honestly didn't know where to go from here. Ryder seemed to be opening up and letting her in more than she had expected. When she planned to show up at his house earlier that day, she really didn't think that she would get to see the kids much, if at all. But, here she was, eating dinner with him and waking up her son from his nap. It was strange at how far she'd gotten in just a day. She wasn't sure if it was because of her manipulative way of looking at things, because Ryder wanted her back more than she had thought, or just because a combination of things, but she was happy about it. Hopefully soon she would be there to stay for sure.
She hovered over Ben now, smiling softly at him as he woke up. "Hi, Ben! Daddy made dinner. Are you ready to go?" Without really waiting for a response, she helped the boy out of bed and let him lead the way down the stairs to the kitchen. She couldn't help but to notice how much he really did resemble Ryder. Again, that ache of regret seemed to haunt her. Nicole quickly pushed it away as they made it to the kitchen. Ryder and Kaylee were there already and Nicole felt like their little family was finally starting to fall back into place.
Well, almost. They had a ways to go yet, but they were getting closer. Nicole slid back down in her chair, her plate of nearly finished food still there where she'd left it. Looking at it now, however, she had no appetite. She just let it sit and turned her gaze toward Kaylee. Kaylee was just... adorable. Nicole bit her lip, her eyes focused on her daughter. Smiling at the young girl, Nicole studied her quietly for a few seconds. Then, she shifted in her chair. She had to win the kids back. "Did you guys sleep well?" She finally asked, feeling rather speechless. What was she to say? She hadn't seen the children in a year, and they had no idea that she was their mother. There wasn't much that you could say to that.
[sorry this took me so long!]

ryder was already downstairs ontop of getting kaylee all set up. he placed his little daughter into her high chair, and buckled her up. after, he did that, he placed her bowl of food on her table part of the highchair. he looked to her, and smiled. she was so much nicole, and sometimes, he couldn't help but smile about that. he moved quickly to his seat. he sat down there, looking at his daughter. ryder sometimes wondered what would come of this. what if nicole left again? what if two kids became too much for her to handle? because, he knew in his heart that he wasn't done having more. he always wanted that big family. i mean, having two kids is alot of work for ryder, but somehow, he manages. plus, he loves his kids to death. he knew he wanted atleast two more little ones to add to his family. but, would nicole? she barely knew how to take care of ben and kaylee. if he wanted anymore, it would take a few years to even have them. but he didn't want them that far away from ben and kaylee.
he looked to nicole as she walked down into the kitchen with little ben. his face light up and then he looked to ben, and said" good afternoon, little bug." he looked to nicole like, you set it up for him. he knew that it would be hard for nicole. but, she had to learn, right? if she wanted, this family to work, she had to learn how to do it right. the only way she could, would be by trying it.

Nicole studied Kaylee for a few more seconds, rather surprised by how much the little girl had grown up. She felt bad, letting her little girl grow up without her. She had never really imagined feeling this way. Nicole let her gaze drop slightly, eying the table, before catching Ryder's eyes. Seeing the look that he was giving her, Nicole scrunched up her nose and rolled her eyes slightly. She stood, making her way to the counter and grabbing Ben's plate from here. Did she have a clue on what she was to do? Not really. But, Nicole was going to try her hardest to wing it.
She set the plate down in front of the chair she designated as Ben's. Helping him up to it, Nicole then pushed the chair in and sat down with an accomplished grin. She honestly hadn't a clue if that was how Ryder preferred it to be done, but it was enough for her. She should have an opinion in this too, after all! She was their mother.
Watching her kids eat, Nicole smiled lightly at Ryder. Though she was still new to the whole parenting thing, she was getting better. She was certain of it. And he wasn't about to get rid of her, yet. Nicole was certain that she was going to wedge her way back into their lives. It'd take time, but she'd do it. She always got what she wanted, after all! This was no exception. It'd just take time...
