Lying wide awake in the dark, Kayla stared up at the ceiling and ran through everything in her mind. The tears had been and gone and now all that was left was a feeling of deep hurt and regret. Kayla wasn’t entirely sure what she regretted though, whether it was telling Teddy her feelings, letting herself fall so hard for him or just for being so easy in the first place. It was probably a mixture of all three and the more she thought about things, the more Kayla cursed her stupidity at allowing any of these things to happen.
Suddenly the darkness was pierced by the bright light of her mobile. Kayla stared at it a little dazed for a few moments as it flashed an incoming call. Slowly though she reached and picked it up, looking with a mixture of curiosity and disdain at Teddy’s name lit up on the screen. Kayla frowned, wondering what he could possibly have to say which warranted a 2am phonecall. Everything had been said earlier and it was quite clear that there was a stark contrast in their feelings towards each other. Surprising even herself with her reaction, Kayla rejected the call and lay the phone back on the table. Normally the girl would have instantly picked up Teddy’s calls- so desperate she was for his attention. Tonight though, after all that had gone down, Kayla just couldn’t face speaking to Teddy. There wasn’t much point anyway- it was hardly going to change anything.
Kayla pulled the duvet tightly around her and let her mind sink back into a daydream, the rain making an almost soothing pitter patter against her window. The bed seemed so empty and Kayla craved so badly for someone to cuddle. There was nobody though, just Kayla all alone in the darkness. She rolled over onto her side and shut her eyes, trying to push everything to the back of her mind for a little bit of sleep.
Unaware of whether she had been woken from her sleep or merely a daydream, Kayla found herself jolting suddenly at the sound of knocking on the front door. She turned quickly to the clock and hopped out of bed, having a good feeling she knew who this may be. Shit. If this was Teddy, and Kayla was quite unsure who else would be knocking on her door in the middle of the night, what was she supposed to do? She wanted nothing less right now than to face the guy who rejected her bare faced and in her pyjamas but if she just ignored him, the whole house would quickly be woken and want to know what was going on. Kayla grabbed her dressing gown and threw it on as she briskly walked down the stairs, pausing momentarily at the front door to compose herself before opening it cautiously. It was hardly likely to be polite rapist knocking on the door for her, but it paid to be careful.
It wasn’t however a rapist and staring back at her was exactly the person whom Kayla expected. ”Teddy..?” she whispered hoarsely. ”What are you doing? It’s 2am”. Her voice displayed a mixture of both confusion and annoyance. Teddy had pretty much just rejected her and now he thought it was appropriate to just turn up on her doorstep in the middle of the night? Kayla didn’t understand, and she was feeling a little too delicate right now to be trying to make sense of things. [/size]
