oh I miss those days as the years go by
oh nothings sweeter then summer time
oh nothings sweeter then summer time
Max loved summer for three obvious reasons; no school, being able to hang out with friends more often, and the fact that you could just throw on a pair of shorts, tank top, and flips flops or Sperrys and still be considered "trendy". Coming from a girl who rarely dealt with fashion or beauty, Max was pretty delighted with this fact. Heck, why she was at it Max swiped on some lip gloss and ran a brush through her hair, her mood light and excited for the fun she was hoping that would come with that afternoon. Of course the junior told herself that she was excited only because that she was going to the carnival with a close friend, but the fact that Nate was cute and an all around good guy sparked Max's crush. Thankfully she was smart enough to not let those feelings intrude with her common sense, and was mainly dressing up (by her standards, anyways) because, well, why not?
She climbed into her car and drove out to were the carnival was set up, the warm afternoon air spilling into her car, though she didn't mind. The colors of summer brought back memories, with its vivid greens, golds, and blues, of every past summer before in Lipton, and this time of year was surely beautiful. Once Max found herself near a good parking spot, she climbed out her car and walked to where tickets were bought and all sorts of people milled about. She took her cellphone from her back pocket and called Nate, shielding the sun with her hand as she said, upon the phone being answered, "Hey Nate-o, im here. And you better not ditch, I know where you live" she said, saying the last bit with a purposely blunt tone. Max humor; I fine line from seriousness and actual joking.
She peered about the lot, seeing if she could pick Nathan out from the medium sized, dispersing crowd, but all she saw were little kids jumping with anticipation and excitement, their parents either stressed or still in a good mood, and teenagers casually strolling about. After a minute or so of idle chatting with Nate on the phone Max hung up and dialed her best friends number, checking up on her. Max was very protective, and although she would feel better having her best friend with her, it was nice being able to hang out with just Nathan. Once she hung up she slid the smooth device into her back pocket along with her pack of gum, and ran her fingers through her thick, wavy hair. She swore, although she never had the urge to cut it, the Lipton heat made it awfully tempting as she waited for her friend.
