Elizabeth was dreaming about a land far, far away. Her body seemed to be floating on a cloud that was poised and gently aimed towards the ground. It landed smoothly. She looked around amazed at how bright everything seemed. There was no sadness her. Only good things surrounded her. The white puffy cloud hissed and turned into a ground of wild snakes wrapping around her ankles. The woman opened her mouth to scream but nothing came out. She tried to move her legs but instead she fell, landing on her bottom. Now scared, she tried to crawl away from the snakes that were now trying to get at her. Heat seemed to take over the air like hot ember flame erupting. She tried to scream again as a new darker cloud arose bring on a rain of fire. The woman opened her eyes waking from her terrible dream looking around to find that she was in a place just as bad.
The building she had come to for shelter had burst into flames during the night. A thick mucky smoke filled the air and then Elizabeth’s lungs forcing her into a fit of coughs. Her body quivered in fear as she tried to crawl past the flames. The smoke was too much. She couldn’t see. She couldn’t hear anything but the roar of the flames, and she couldn’t breathe. Without much else left, she collapsed into unconsciousness.

Aleksi yelled, and he turned back to his co-worker and there was a mutual understanding between them as they headed toward the building. The fire had been fairly contained to the top, but a quick glance served as evidence enough there was no structural damage that would prevent them entering - yet. Aleksi knew they'd have to work fast. The pair of them ran through the building, protected from the smoke fumes, but they were definitely getting thicker and worse. Aleksi felt the heat as they headed up to the next floor, but it wouldn't stop them nor bother them. He nodded to Anderson, his co-worker, and his friend rammed the door down. It fell down, and Aleksi spotted the flames licking at the side of the walls from the floor above. "Empty?" Aleksi asked, but then spotted the unconscious figure on the floor. He crossed the room, bending to her and attempting to get a response. It was clear she was out, and he turned to Anderson. Together they worked to remove her from the fire, the fire needed to be isolated and the room was beginning to burn. Aleksi needed to get out of the room before damage to the structure occured. Something told him that Anderson and him were going to get in trouble for running straight in. Together they removed the unconscious woman from the fire, Aleksi assumed she must be homeless and squatting in the building. They were met by the EMTs and Aleksi was relieved of his duties, turning his attention back to the fire. He caught the glance his superior just gave him and he glanced at Anderson. "Damn," he grinned, pulling his visor up and feeling the cool air hit face. He took a breath and turned his attention back to working with the rest of the team to control the fire, but he took a second to glance across to the EMTs to see if the unconscious girl had now stirred.[/ul]

There was nothing in the air but smoke it felt. The girl’s mind was blank. There was nothing going on. No dreams, no nightmares. It was just black. A never ending darkness that, in itself, held a certain horror. The heavy wind hit her as they moved. Her body was simply limp all the same. Elizabeth was still a bit aware of what was going on, but not really. Her eyes fluttered open weakly, looking up and around. All she saw was red from the fire. A weak gasp of air left her as she leaned back against whoever’s care she was in. Her eyes closed weakly, not wanting to know what was going on.
The cool air from outside hit her face like a sweet assault. It felt like she had been bathed in a bath of molten lava and was finally removed from the siring liquid. All the same, she was limp as she was brought the EMTs. They laid her down on the stretcher and placed a cold blanket over her. After that they put a mask over her face. As the woman unconsciously breathed it in, her body seemed to come back to reality. Her eyes began to open weakly. She didn’t know what was going on. All she could remember was the red hot flames, the snakes and the clouds. Looking out, she saw a man. She didn’t understand. All she wanted was the aching in her head to stop. All the same, she couldn’t understand what was going on. Bits and pieces of her memory were gone. The smoke still seemed to be around her. Reaching out her hand, she tried to beckon the man over. She wanted to know what happened.

Aleksi asked, a smile on his face as he leaned into the back of the ambulance. "I have to do my work, but I'll be back. I will definitely be back," he assured her. He nodded to the EMTs and turned back around, though he gave the girl another glance and a warm smile before he pulled the visor on the helmet down and ran across to help the team. It didn't take long to control the fire, but to Aleksi it felt like forever. The area had been cordoned off and he pulled the helmet from his head, feeling the cool air as he walked across to the ambulance, he was glad to see it was still parked there and hadn't moved yet. The best place for the girl was hospital where she could be checked out, but Aleksi had promised to come back and talk to her, so he would do. Holding his helmet he reached the back of the ambulance and smiled at her, climbing into the back. "Hey again, I said I'd be back," he smiled. "How you doing?" he asked. He wondered how long she'd been down before they found her, and hoped they'd managed to catch her fairly early on. If too much smoke had gotten into her lungs, she'd be in serious trouble. She seemed disorientated, which was only to be expected in cases like this, but she was doing a lot better than some cases that Aleksi had encountered. "It's out, the fire I mean," he explained, running a hand through his dark hair.[/ul]

The girl wanted to open her mouth and tell the man that she wasn’t okay, but he seemed in such a hurry that the words stayed in her mouth. Elizabeth was weak and dizzy from everything was going on. Her body felt heavy as if it was weighted by thousands of pounds of pressure. It throbbed and trembled wrapping into the blanket more as she watched him go. He was an attractive man, no doubt, but her eyes were more for those who realized that time was fleeting and at any moment any one of them could die.
It was a lesson she had learned from her life on the streets. She had become cold to the idea of lose and love. If she was going to give her heart they had to understand that she had been eating off a staple of pizza scraps and garbage since she was in her early double digit years. Elizabeth was probably very unhealthy in all matter of fact. She needed a guy who would cherish her now and move on when she passed quickly. That’s what she needed a guy who lived in the now. Closing her eyes she waited for his return.
Jumping a little, the girl looked at the man who had arrived to her side once more like he told her he would. The woman struggled to get her bearing stammering out. “I- h-hurt in m-my chest,” she whined, turning her face to the side. Her eyes flickered around her examining the faces around her wondering if any of these people were people that she knew personally. It seemed not.
