Liz had been stretching outside her front door for around fifteen minutes; naturally there were those that had stopped to stare but most had seemingly walked by unfazed by the models outlandish warm up routine. This was to be expected mind you, or at least Liz had pondered the outcome a bit. She wasn’t wearing much makeup but her hair had still been done into a stylish bob the night before and although she wasn’t about to win any runway awards in her current state she had hopes that her skin tight running gear might do the trick. She shrugged her shoulders, somewhat disappointed; it seemed you couldn’t be the boyfriend stealing siren of the night every day of the week! She stood up from her front step and bounced around a bit, getting the blood flowing through her feet before she set off in the direction of the park.
She took a slow pace, the kind that some would notice as a long distance runners pace but in actual fact it was her excuse to slow down at a moment’s notice for a casual chat. Liz liked to keep in the loop with what was going on around town and although she couldn’t be everywhere all the time, the park was usually a good place to bump into people for a casual remark or two. Speaking of bumping into people, she had to laugh at some of her past attempts at getting the attention of guys around here – tripping up over a non-existent twig and stumbling into attractive young men and women always got the conversation ball rolling. Although today the park seemed relatively full it was mostly bustling with families and fellow runners, the occasional couple too. Liz settled into the fact that today would be an uneventful jog that would do nothing more than help tone her thighs, which should have been the point of this Endeavour all along.
As she got to the rough halfway point of her run, she stopped off at a bench to catch her breath and relax a bit. She took off her headphones and looked out across the field in front of her, many sporting activities were in progress, most notably the junior football for kids with parents cheering from the sidelines. Liz looked away, back along the path instead. She despised young children, at least for the time being. She knew she wanted kids some day but right now, all they would do is drag her away from her adventurous lifestyle of fun and games!
