It was around four in the afternoon, still warm, but cooling down for the night. Lysander jogged down one of the paths in the park. His ipod attached to his arm played loudly in his ears. Not enough to make him deaf, but enough to drown out the sounds around him. Music would always take him to another place. His mind wondered off as he continued to jog. He had moved here about a month ago and was still getting use to the place. Lipton being a small town, some place to get away from the chaos in his life. Finding out he'd been kidnapped at the age of one took a toll on his life. The people he lived with were strangers, plus kidnappers! He had no idea if they had done any other crime. Lysander didn't stick around to find out. Shaken up and scared, Lysander ran before the cops could interview him about his so called parents deaths. He had no idea what happen to them.
Jogging up a small hill, Lysander thought back to that day. He had been at a friends house and when he left, he decided to swing by his "parents" house to see how they were doing. He hadn't seen anything out of the ordinary. Having a key, he went inside and called out to them. They didn't answer.. Looking around, he found them in the living room. On the floor... dead. Lysander panicked and called the police. All the while, he checked to see if they were really dead. Both of them didn't have a pluse and there was no blood. It was like they both had a heartattack and died.. In no time, the police and paramedics were there. An officer had ask who Lysander was, he told him that he was their son. So, the officer looked up his parents and him on his computer. Come to find out, Lysander's parents never had kids. Another thing, Lysander wasn't in the system. It was like he was no one. The officer told Lysander this and asked if he'd come in for a interview. Lysander agreed, though he lied and when he got the chance, he ran.
While on a bus to nowhere, Lysander thought to hiself. Who were the people he was living with? What was going on?! His first thought was that he had been kidnapped. Though he never remembered it. He had to be young when that happened. It would make a little since cause he looked nothing like them. Mom and dad had blonde hair and blue eyes. Lysander had brown hair and brown eyes. He was kicking hiself when he didn't notice it before. Taking a bus to Lipton sounded like a good idea. Small town to get lost in. If he kept low, the cops wouldn't find him. He just prayed they weren't trying to hard to find him. Lysander shook his head and focused to what was ahead of him. The path he was jogging on was coming up to the main street in the town. The music in his ears quiet down until it was over and he slowed down into a walk. Pulling the puds from his ears, he heard sirens drawing close and even squealing tires.
Raising his brow, he looked around to see where it was coming from. He couldn't tell. It sounded like it was coming from the right of him, or maybe the left. With a sigh, he remained calm. No one could of found him that quickly! Walking on towards the street and the crosswalk. From the right of him, he heard the sirens and tires squealing as a car came around the corner with three cops behind it. The car was going to fast on the main street. But with a criminal trying to get away, slowing down was never on their mind. Looking ahead, he noticed someone starting to walk across the crosswalk. Were they deaf or blind?! Could they not notice a police chase going on! Lysander took a glance at the speeding car heading straight for the pedestrian. He took off in a sprint, luckly not being far from the person either. He quickly grabbed their arm and pulled them back onto the sidewalk just as the speeding car whizzed past them along with the cop cars following behind. Once out of harm's way, Lysander took a breath and looked down at the person. "Are you okay?" He asked and glanced around then back down at the person.

Regardless, Brynlee found herself burring her hands deep in the pockets of her light sweater, wrapping it tighter around her body. It had been a long day and she was tired. She had spent the majority of the day looking at cars -something that she hated with a passion- in hopes of finding a new car. Her cousin and her boyfriend had been threatening to sell her old car and buy her a new one for weeks, and finally, Brynlee had come to terms. She wasn't planning to admit it to them, but she was getting sick of its constant breaking down and lack of reliability. Even this morning the stupid car refused to start, which forced her to walk all the way across town to the car dealers, as she refused to use the public transportation.
Now, Brynlee was just feeling grouchy. She had worn high heels that morning and they weren't the most ideal walking shoes. And, she had really found very little at the local Lipton car dealer that caught her attention. It had been a long day and she just wanted to get home. She quickened her pace just a bit, knowing that she had a nice walk, yet. Her apartment was on the edge of town. And, though Lipton was a tiny town, it was still a good haul from one end to the other.
Knowing this, Brynlee carefully placed her earbuds in her ears, turning the volume up enough to drown out the occasional passing car or pedestrian. Once satisfied with that, she turned her attention to her cell phone. It had been abnormally quiet today. It seemed as if everyone had gone into hibernation. Which, in a way, they almost had. Her younger cousin, practically her brother, was about to move away to college. Her boyfriend, who she normally spent all her time with, seemed to be focused on helping her cousin move. Without the two of them, Brynn almost felt lost.
Maybe she'd go try to convince her cousin not to go again? She really hated the fact that he was picking up and leaving the only home that they had ever known. In fact, it really bothered her. He was practically her brother; with his departure date etching closer and closer, she was getting more and more agitated, distracted even. With the thoughts of her cousin's departure in mind, Brynlee didn't bother to stop or look up before starting across the main crosswalk in town. She knew cars were never out this time of day, and, if they were, they'd stop for her. It was just an unspoken rule in their small town.
She had just started across, though, when she felt someone grab her arm. She blinked a few times, pulling herself out of her thoughts. Stumbling slightly, an ear-bud fell out, and it was then that Brynlee heard the sirens. Before she had a chance to respond, the person holding her arm yanked her back toward the sidewalk and into safety just in time. A car sped down the street, three cop cars behind it. Brynlee's eyes went wide and she stumbled a few more steps back, catching her heel and tripping onto the sidewalk. She watched them speed down the sidewalk, her heart racing slightly from the realization that she was almost killed a few seconds before.
"Are you okay?"
Blinking again, Brynlee's gaze shifted upward toward the man that was speaking. An unfamiliar face, but he was obviously the one who had just spared her life. For once in her life, Brynlee felt speechless. She nodded up at him, biting her lip slightly at a small pain as she went to prop herself up. Her eyes shifted down now spotting just a minor bruise on her arm. Nothing serious. "Yeah, I'm fine, I think..." Gazing from the man, to the direction that the cops and the car had went, she forced herself to take a deep breath. "What just happened?" Car chases weren't exactly an everyday thing in Lipton. They were far from it. | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,5,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=style,background-color: c0c0c0; border-radius: 10px;] WORDS: 691 | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,5,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=style,background-color: c0c0c0; border-radius: 10px;] TAGGED: Lysander | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,5,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=style,background-color: c0c0c0; border-radius: 10px;] MUSIC: "Helena Beat" - Foster the People | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,5,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=style,background-color: c0c0c0; border-radius: 10px;] CLOTHES: coming soon | [atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,5,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=style,background-color: c0c0c0; border-radius: 10px;] NOTES: so, so, so sorry this took so long. it's not the best, either, so i apologize for that, too. xD |
