Chemistry. Adelaide had never been a very good student, but she was at least getting by in her other classes. In Chemistry it seemed as if she were just doomed. The periodic table? Atomic masses? Darwin? Yeah, Adelaide was completely lost. So, at the mention of a group project, she was one of the many students who participated in the chorused groan. The teacher had just ignored them, however, instead going about explaining the project. They had to research and experiment with various periodic elements. It sounded rather boring, and it only got worse as the teacher mentioned that she had assigned partners for this project.
Great. Just Great. Adelaide semi-hoped that she would end up with a friend, but she also wished that she would get someone that she considered to be a 'nerd' in her group. As much as she adored her friends, many of them were in the same boat she was - lucky to be getting by. At least with someone that she considered nerdy, she'd have a better chance of passing.
"Adelaide James, you will be partnered with Allison Mason."
Those words caused Addie to frown slightly. She wasn't sure how to take that. She and Allie were good friends during elementary, but now the girl wasn't sure where they stood. The project would be... interesting.
---
All of that had been this morning, long ago said and done. Adelaide and Allison had spoken few words after class, only taking the time to plan to meet up at the library. It had been years since she'd been here. And, the teen scrunched up her nose slightly as she made her way into the local library. She hated this place, and really just wanted to be in and out as soon as possible.
She made her way to a table in the back, tossing her belongings down as she slumped down into one of the chairs. Allison didn't seem to be here yet, and that was fine by Adelaide. She'd give her five minutes and then she would be gone. No reason to stay, right?

allie was running late, and it was all fucking ryans fault. it was ' oh babe, can you do this for me?' and 'babe your doing it wrong do it again' all flipping day. she sighed, and rushed into the library. truthfuly, allie hadn't been here since freshmen year when she had to do a project on some old dead guy that she knew nothing about. she raced inside pushing the doors open, and then looked around for... addie.
her eyes scanned the room till she finally found addie. she carried her bag with her rushing over, she placed the bag down on the table. " i'm so sorry i was running late. i had lets be a pain in the ass boyfriend even know i know allie has something to do, and hold her up case." she stated with a laugh at the end. she looked at addie, and sighed. she hadn't really talked to addie since hmm fifth grade maybe? she sighed, and looked at her, and then said" shall we start?"

Adelaide's cell phone made it's way to her lap as she propped back in the chair. Her Chemistry book was on one side, and her tote bag had been tossed into one of the chairs next to her. Addie seemed completely oblivious to the various signs posted around that said everything from 'please turn off your cell phones' to 'please do not use your cell phone here as it may disrupt others, thank you'. She had been neglecting her texts for a while now, but she was more concerned by the fact that her inbox was nearly full. She had to respond to someone sooner or later... and what was a better time than when she was sitting here in the library? At the very least, she would read through the dozen or so unread texts that she had piling into her inbox. Then, she would decide which she'd reply to and which she wouldn't. Lately she just didn't feel like texting.
Addie had just opened a text message when she heard a voice next to her. Jumping slightly, she nearly tipped her chair over backwards. Her eyes slid up from the phone to see Allison there. She was apologizing about being late, but Addie really wasn't concerned. She was almost always late herself. In fact, she was almost certain that she had been running behind herself today.
"It's fine. We can start." She agreed quickly. She didn't really move, however. Her feet remained on the edge of the table and her chair was still equally propped back. She just reached around and grabbed her Chemistry book, opening it to a random page in her lap before sliding her phone over top of it. "Remind me what we needed to get done? I tend to tune Mrs. Miller out when she talks." The teen giggled softly to herself, studying the other girl. She and Allie used to be really close, but then middle school hit and that was over. Now, they were lucky to speak at all. "What should we start with?"

she smiled, and said" okay, well that's good." she let out a sigh. she really didn't know how addie was these days. she lost contact alot with her. so she could be like the biggest bitch of all time, and hate late people. so allie was basically just not trying to get on her bad side. but again, she remembered addie has beening the understanding sort of person. she sighed, those were the old days. people change, things change in life.
she heard her say something then sighed. she pulled the paper out, and then looked at it. they had to come up with two elements from the periodic table, and write an essay on each of them. then they had to make a model of the periodic table on something to show where the elements where on the periodic table. it was pretty simple actually. they atleast three weeks to pull this off. she sighed, and said" well, basically we have to pick two elements of the periodic table
note: can change the project. thats all i could come up with XD

Addie was quick to lose interest in her phone. At one point the phone had been her entire life. She would never leave anywhere without it, and no text message would go unread or unresponded to. But, lately, it seemed as if that had changed. Her priorities really weren't her cell phone anymore. She didn't respond to texts as often as she should, and her friends just seemed like a second choice. She felt bad about that, but the teenager was worried that if she did respond her secret would accidentally slip. It was irrational, and false. But, that was how Addie's mind worked.
She set her phone down on the table, her eyes glancing to the Chemistry book. She knew it wasn't the chapter that they were studying. There was nothing about the periodic table in there. Stupid elements. Addie's eyes now trailed back up to Allie and she forced a smile. Might as well make the best of this.
"Sounds... boring." Adelaide shrugged, listening to the girl explain the project. "But, I guess simple enough. We should be out of here soon enough." She could only hope. The library really wasn't a place that she preferred to hang out. There were too many... nerds. Too many books. And, it was too much like school.
(( we sure can. chemistry was the first thing that came to mind. xD any thoughts on what it shall be? ))

allie looked at addie and wondered what was going on in her life. everyone had thier secrets, allie did too. and she covered them well, with her long sleeved pink shirt that she had just bought a couple of days ago to cover the huge hand imprint on her arm from ryan just days ago. that was just her life. she got clothes to cover what was on her body. she sighed, and then heared her talk.
she thought and then said" yeah i guess so. i mean, not the best way to spend a day, but you do what you gotta do." she sighed, and looked away for a minute. she would rather be at home, with ryan, watching a movie, or even shopping. or spending time with her twin sister, aliza. she sighed, and then said " well lets get it started."
( well chem isnt the best one. we could just switch to bio or whatever the other one is. i know some projects better with that. )

Allison and Adelaide. The two had been inseparable when they were little girls. Addie would be over at Allie's house nearly every day. And, on the days that she wasn't, Allie was over at her house. They had practically been sisters. They had lived three houses apart since forever... so there really was no harm in it. But, as she sat here now, the days of their carefree childhood seemed far and distant. She barely knew Allie. Sure, they had classes together. Science wasn't the only one. She was pretty sure that they were in the same history, math, and art classes as well. But, it didn't matter how many classes they had together, they still never talked.
It was strange at how fast one thing died when a better one came along, Adelaide mused. But, good things die hard and this was no exception. So, the teenager pushed these thoughts back, now trying to focus on Allison and the project at hand. History was in the past... why bring it up? "Right," The teen agreed softly. She tossed her textbook onto the table in front of her, tilting in her chair just enough to get a better view at her peer.
"Should we leaf through the textbook first or just look for some books on the topic?" Adelaide pondered out loud. She was awful at reports... so, might as well see where Allison wanted to start. Addie was sure that if she choose what came first, that they'd get no where. In fact, it was probably because of people like her that they got three whole weeks to work on something that should really only take one or two good workdays.
(( Bio is fine. Anything you want to try, I'm sure I can work with. Chemistry is a tad hard. (: ))

allie wasn't trying to focus on the past -- but staring at her childhood best friend it was kind of hard not too. she remembered all the days she spent with her at either her house or allies house. most of the time, she wouldn't even be with her twin, but with addie. everyone thought they were triplets. she sighed, and then tried to push the thoughts of them as children towards the back of her head. this stupid project was what she needed to think of.
she looked at her and then heard her say something. she sighed, and said" yeah, we're animals or the earth? i dont even know too much about science. i barely pay attention." she laughed a bit. it was sad the one class she hated was sex ed, but she always payed attention because mr dansen was very much humorful with everything he said. she looked to allie and said" yeah, i guess that would work."

She and Allie had been so close. Mikayla and Allie had been two of Addie's closest friends growing up. It was strange. Both Addie and Allie were twins. And, it seemed as if Mikayla and Aliza spent a lot of time together, while Addie and Allie spent time together. She couldn't help but to wonder where those days had gone. But, deep down, Addie knew where they had gone. She traded them for the life she had now and had never looked back. She probably never would have it it weren't for this project.
'Stupid project.' Addie sighed, her eyes turned to the text book. She opened it up, trying hard to remember what chapter they were on. Three, maybe? Three sounded good. Addie opened to that page, laughing slightly at Allie's comment. "I know, right? Science is the least of my priorities." She agreed. After skimming over the text book page for just a few seconds, Addie felt like she was in over her head. She really hated projects.
So, now, the teenager changed her plan of action. Looking up at Allie, she considered her words carefully. "On a different note, how have you been?" She was curious. They hadn't talked in forever. A little distraction couldn't hurt.

allie just sat there and thought. honestly, this was the worst thing ever. allie and addie hadn't talked in forever, and thier teacher expected something out of this. she knew why they grew apart, but again, she just wish it was different. allie was the sweetheart of the class, the all sweet girl, the one who never raised her voice. addie was nice too, that last time she remembered talking to her. but was she still that sweet girl she was back then? maybe so. allie knew she had changed too.
she laughed and said" same here, like really? i'd rather be home." she looked to addie and smiled. then she looked very much bored. allied was too, though. so its not like she could say anything. science the one class that she basically sucked at. she smiled when she heard addie, and said" pretty good i guess, spend most of my time with my sister, or my boyfriend, ryan. how about you? how's mikayla?" she was really close to addie, and not really her twin sister. Aliza had always been close to mikayla. she didn't even know if aliza was friends with her anymore.. that was sad.

Addie pushed the text book on up onto table. She leaned back in her chair, her feet making their way to the edge of the table once again. Even though she probably shouldn't sit like this, Addie did anyways. What was the harm? The librarian didn't scare her. Plus, if they got kicked out of the library, at least they'd have a story to tell the teacher. Adelaide smirked slightly to herself at this thought. It'd be a legit story, at the very least.
She looked around her legs, smiling slightly at her childhood friend. Ryan. The name really didn't sound familiar, but it perked her curiosity. "How long have you been dating? I didn't realize you had a boyfriend." She wasn't sure if he went to school with them. But, if he did, Adelaide made a note to pay more attention. She liked to know who was dating who. "Kay's good. How about Aliza?" She replied then, not really thinking about her words much. She hadn't been close to Aliza ever, but she seemed nice enough for the few short conversations that they had.
"I'm... good. Just been busy. Lots of great parties around." Adelaide forced a smile. Lately she had felt like crap, but she wasn't about to tell Allison that. Might as well just try to act like the Addie that everyone knew. Party Addie. It was much preferred over the new, more withdrawn, pregnant Addie... right?

she smiled when ryan was brought up. for some reason, even know they have arguements and fight, she still loved him. she smiled, and said" we've been together for almost two years. he graduated almost two years ago, i wanna say." she giggled a bit. she knew he was older than her by alot, but she liked it that way. she smiled, and said" aliza's pretty good, same old liz." she smiled, and then looked around a bit.
she smiled when she talked, looking at her, and said" that's good. and yeah, i don't really party with the people at school. me and ryan go to alot of the college ones. mostly, his friends. i mean, yeah, i have friends at the party. but mostly i'm stuck with him" she sighed. she really hated those parties, actually. she sighed, and said" we went to someone's party once that goes to school, and ryan legit flipped. he was like ive gone to a partier ten times, no wait thirty times better than this. he likes to think they do it better than us." she laughed a bit. ryan was a tad cocky at times, but hey what guy wasn't?

A college boyfriend. Or, that's what Adelaide gathered from it. In the world of popularity, to have a college boyfriend meant major points. College guys didn't date just any girl... or, that's how most of the kids at the high school seemed to think. Adelaide was surprised by the fact that Allison was dating one. "Wow, that's a long time!" Two years. The longest Adelaide had ever been in a relationship was more like two months. She wasn't one to commit. She preferred flings.
Which, would be what got her into her whole pregnancy mess. She cringed slightly, shoving that thought out of her head and returning to their new conversation. This was much better than studying. "College parties are amazing." She chimed, with a slight grin. They were. Addie had been to her share of college parties. It didn't seem like Allie was too enthused about them, however. She nodded at Allie's words, shrugging slightly. "Well, both parties have their perks. At least at the college ones, you're less likely to get busted for underage drinking or something." The teenager shrugged, her words remaining rather quiet toward the end. She didn't want everyone in the library to just assume that she drank. She did sometimes, at parties. But, just for fun. And, being underage that could get her into trouble. Even though most teenagers did drink a little when they went partying here in Lipton.

she laughed at that and said" i guess it really is a long time." she never really thought of how long it has been. she's been happy in this relationship, and then sad in it, or unhappy. but she loved ryan. she smiled, and said" he's my best friend, though. i couldn't picture it any other way." she did love him. but, she loved the sweet sober ryan more than the jerky drunk ryan that hit her for nothing more than breathing wrong or looking at him the wrong way. this though she would never tell addie. nor anyone else...
she smiled and said" oh, they can be. i know that. but, i party with ryan too much that sometimes, i just get sick of it all." it was sort of like too much of something and you get sick of it, or too much good in your life. allie was happy, that was sure. but sometimes she just hated partying. before ryan, she loved it. she lived to go out with her friends, and party it up. college parties surely changed her view on how a party should go down, but she just started to resent them. but, maybe thats because how it changed ryan.
she laughed and said" nope, never got caught or anything. college parties are pretty secure, though. they know how to do it right, dude." she laughed thinking of the other one the past few days. the one at kyle's house. he has his typical party every time daddy goes away at his house, and sometimes at the college too.

Allison seemed to think quite a bit of this Ryan, Adelaide mused. Which, good for her. Addie was glad that she was happy with her relationship. Even if relationships had never been her thing, she still enjoyed knowing who was with who. And, it was cute when they were happy in their relationship. One day Addie figured that she, herself, would be in a happy relationship. Or, she hoped. She had to stop with her occasional flings sooner or later, right? "That's cute," The teen finally voiced her thoughts, smiling lightly. "I'm happy for you!"
Her mind considered the last several parties she had been two. Though they had been weeks back, she could remember them quite clearly. She had never been one to get sick of parties, but to each their own. "Right," The girl gave a small nod. "I guess if you went to every party, that would make sense." Addie grinned. Going to every party would be figuratively impossible. Lipton was a small town, yes. But, the people here knew how to party. It seemed as if everyone enjoyed a good bash.
"You got that right!" Adelaide was quick to agree. This time, in honesty. College parties were pretty secure. And, they knew how to have a good time. What was there not to like? "Maybe we should go together sometime. You know, party it up?" Not that Adelaide had any intentions of returning to a party soon. But, Allie didn't know that. Plus, it just felt like the right thing to say. Might as well throw the offer out there.
