We’ll make things right,
we’ll feel it all tonight. Kayla stepped out of the car and onto Teddy’s driveway, slightly on edge from the journey. Teddy wasn’t a bad driver by any means but like more boys, was pretty speedy and had horrific road rage. Actually his road rage, on consideration, may be worse than the average teenage boy. The driver who was daydreaming when the lights turned green would most surely agree with that last sentiment. Kayla was very glad at this point he hadn’t seen her driving- no doubt he would have a few sharp words to say about it.
Kayla looked at the house, appearing decidedly dark and deserted. She couldn’t remember how she knew but definitely recalled that Teddy lived with his uncle. It was an unusual arrangement which probably suggested some sensitive circumstances she shouldn’t probe into just yet. From what Teddy had been saying earlier it seemed that his uncle wasn’t around that much- a sad prospect when she thought about it. Having grown up in a noisy and overbearing family of five, Kayla couldn’t imagine sitting on her own in a quiet and empty house for any amount of time. That would probably explain why Teddy frequented parties more often than she did.
Thinking about parties snapped Kayla back into the realisation of what she had offered to him on a plate tonight, what she had planned to offer him at last night’s drunken encounter. She straightened out her skirt and followed Teddy towards the door, hoping she would at least live up to his expectations.

And as I drive tonight, west coast sky, daring me to try, I feel alive tonight. Teddy told her with a smile, and followed her inside the house, switching the lights on as he went. The house barely looked lived in, despite the fact it had two inhabitants.[/ul]

We’ll make things right,
we’ll feel it all tonight. Kayla smiled up at him as he kissed her.”Thanks” she said softly, adding ”You not looking too bad yourself” before she had chance to blush at his compliment. She had tried to make an extra effort tonight, knowing she would have to compensate for the lack of beer goggles which probably made her look a lot more attractive to him when he was drunk yesterday than she would do normally.
Kayla took a moment to look around as Teddy turned on the lights. It almost seemed cold, unloved, like this place functioned merely as a house and not as a home. There weren’t the embarrassing baby photos which littered every available wall in her house or the warm aroma of home cooked food. Still, she shouldn’t judge his house on her own standards, she was probably making wild assumptions about his non-existent home life when he was actually fine.
She slipped her pumps off and left them on the hallway carpet, turning back towards him for him to lead the way. She felt slightly uncomfortable in others people’s houses, like she had to be constantly on edge about breaking some unwritten house rules. ”What are you planning to do with me tonight then?” she said with a naive look as if enquiring as to what perfectly innocent plans he had set up to pass the evening. She of course knew full well what she was saying and the connotations within it and had no doubt Teddy would too.

And as I drive tonight, west coast sky, daring me to try, I feel alive tonight. Teddy replied with a grin. "We'll see how it goes. Maybe a game of Monopoly?" he joked, wrapping his arms around her and bringing her close to him. He leaned down and gave her a kiss on the lips. He pulled back, still smiling at her. "Drink?" Teddy asked. "Though perhaps you better stay off the alcohol, lightweight," Teddy teased. He stepped back from her and headed toward the kitchen, indicating that Mikayla should follow him as he went. Perhaps it was for the best the both of them didn't drink, but he didn't see anything wrong with a few glassesd. Sure, she was a lightweight, but in a controlled environment where Teddy was actively trying to make sure she didn't get drunk, he didn't see too much of a problem. Of course, she might decline his offer of alcohol completely, which would probably be the sensible option, he thought. His uncle would notice the missing alcohol, but it wasn't like he was going to say anything nor really care, as long as it somehow got replaced in the end. [/ul]

We’ll make things right,
we’ll feel it all tonight. Kayla was somewhat surprised by how tidy the house was as she peered into the living room. She had this mental image of a house inhabited only by two blokes being a pig sty, empty takeaway boxes and beer cans littering the floor. This place however was spotless, in an almost eery way. Like nobody actually lived here. Her train of thoughts about the house were disrupted at the suggestion of monopoly and she laughed out loud. ”Yes!” she gasped in almost convincing excitement, smiling back at him and then letting their lips gently graze as he leaned in for a kiss.
As Teddy took off towards the kitchen, Kayla followed, pondering whether she should go for his offer or not. The whole idea of tonight was surely for them to decide how they really felt about each other sober. But yet she knew how she felt about Teddy and was up for this without having had a drink. A bit of alcohol would just help in soothing her nerves a little, rather than let her do something stupid, wouldn’t it? She wasn’t going to get off her face drunk, just let herself relax into things a bit more.
"I’m not a lightweight!” she protested with a giggle. ”I have no idea where you got that idea from!”. Nearly drinking yourself paralytic in four drinks was actually fairly impressive she smiled to herself, deciding that at least her intolerance to alcohol made her a cheap date. ”I’ll have whatever you’re having” she decided, hoping this wouldn’t be beer..or cider..or wine. Or infact one of the many alcoholic beverages she didn’t like. She wasn’t quite sure why she’d say this actually, seeing as she’d now probably get lumbered with something she disliked. Another case of mouth working before brain she felt.

And as I drive tonight, west coast sky, daring me to try, I feel alive tonight. were the one who half-carried me home last night," Teddy teased. "See, alcohol, fries your brain," he replied, turning to face the fridge. He pulled it open and looked down at what they had. Cider and beer... not exactly a great selection, Teddy thought. He certainly didn't know too many girls who liked either of those drinks, but perhaps if Mikayla was drinking something she didn't quite like then she wouldn't rush it down like it was nothing but fruit juice, he figured. That had been the problem last night - sickly sweet drinks were prone to be forgotten as alcoholic, and downed in no time at all. He reached into the fridge and pulled two bottles from the bottom few rows. "Pear cider?" he asked. He didn't give her much chance to answer and crossed the room to find the bottle cap opener. Pear cider wasn't too sweet and wasn't too bitter either, it was kind of the inbetween - something like the baby version of cider, Teddy thought. It was pretty heavy though, he definitely wouldn't be drinking more than one if he wanted to stay sober tonight, he figured. He opened both bottles, and turned to face Kayla again, smiling at her. Placing both of the bottles onto the counter he leaned over to kiss her again, a hand on her waist as he did so. It seemed like whatever second thoughts she might have been having earlier in the coffee shop had disappeared, Teddy thought. He was glad to see she didn't appear to be having second thoughts about his invitation. [/ul]

We’ll make things right,
we’ll feel it all tonight. "Yeah, I’m pretty sure that’s how it went” she said confidently, giving him a cheeky smile. ”You need to learn your limits Teddy”. Seriously though, Kayla did need to learn her limits. Not many boys would have looked out for her like Teddy had done last night. It took a strong man indeed to refuse an intoxicated young woman throwing themselves at him. Looking back on things, it could have all very easily gone wrong. She could have ended up sleeping with some strange guy or walked home on her own and passed out in the gutter. Looking back on the events with a clear head, she really did have a lot more respect for Teddy.
”Yeah that’s fine” she nodded, never having actually tried pear cider before. She would give it her best go anyway, just to be polite, but it was probably better if it wasn’t the tastiest drink in the world, she would at least then be encouraged to sip rather than down it.
Kayla let her body move close to his, draping her arms around his shoulders as they kissed. For some reason, even without the drink her nerves seemed to have settled a little. Perhaps it was his calm and confident nature, eeking a little bit of her own confidence out of her. Perhaps it was because after last night, she realised she could trust this guy a bit more- that he was kind and respectful and wasn’t just in this to hurt or use her. In fact the more she thought about his actions last night, the more she fell for him. Surprising considering her stroppy outburst at the time. Feeling their bodies embrace took her back to the previous night once more. This was a lot nicer, more natural than the drunken fumbling they had got up to in the gazebo. He may well have been right to refuse her advances, not that she would admit this to him.

And as I drive tonight, west coast sky, daring me to try, I feel alive tonight. he joked, his free hand feeling for hers, interlocking their fingers. Teddy wondered if he was being a bit forward for her, but her insecurity seemed to have disappeared completely. Kayla was a different girl when she was sober and on her own, nothing like the girl he'd known for the past three years. Nothing like the timid Kayla he knew from school. [/ul]

We’ll make things right,
we’ll feel it all tonight. Kayla glady found his kissing was just as good sober as she had remembered it drunk and her heart started that familiar thumping. Feeling him gently pinning her against the counter brought back all the excitement and lust she had felt yesterday, the yearning for his body to be close to hers. She was completely wrapped up in the moment again as they smooched, forgetting any hang ups or worries she had and just living for this kiss. Teddy made her feel safe and he made her feel wanted, something which Kayla was not quite used to and which was taking her by surprise. It would normally take her a lot longer than this to get confident around a guy and so she wasn’t sure what was so special about Teddy. Perhaps it was best not to think and to instead just accept it.
As he gently broke off the kiss, Kayla accepted the bottle and joined hands with his. Sipping the drink made her scrunch her lips up a little, unsure about this new taste. It wasn’t unpleasant she noted, just a little unusual. Kayla raised a naughty smile at his comment, looking at him longingly. ”Maybe you could give me a bit of a tour” she suggested ”Show me your bedroom..?”. Suggestion was such a powerful tool, she thought. It always left room for manoeuvre. If he was up for things he could read it as a it was intended but if he thought she was being over keen, she could backtrack and claim she hadn’t meant it to sound so flirtatious. She had of course meant it though. She’d meant every word she’d said to Teddy, however much the forwardness of those words had surprised both Teddy and her.

And as I drive tonight, west coast sky, daring me to try, I feel alive tonight. he told her, moving away from the counter and heading out of the kitchen. He took another drink from the bottle of cider as he led her upstairs, toward his bedroom. They both knew very well what everything was implying, and neither of them seemed to be concerned about it what so ever. They were consenting, they were sober, it was all fine in Teddy's head. He reached the second floor, heading down toward the bedroom on the left. He still had Kayla's hand tightly in his grip as he pushed his bedroom door open. It seemed to be a world away from the house downstairs - it was cluttered, but not enough to be called messy, just somewhat unorganized. His walls were covered in photos and posters, memories of nights out, nights in and vacations with friends. The whole room seemed to have been loved and thought of. It wasn't huge, an average sized bedroom for a teenager, but it was a small indication of who Teddy was as a person. [/ul]

We’ll make things right,
we’ll feel it all tonight. Kayla raised her eyebrows and gave him a cheeky smirk at the suggestion of a ’very special’ tour, adding a little ”Ooh” and a giggle. She kept hold of his hand as her led her upstairs, taking another sip from the bottle on the way. At least it was him leading her this time, she dreaded to think how keen she’d looked when she had dragged him by the hand from the party last night.
Stepping into Teddy’s bedroom was like stepping into another house, Kayla thought. The blank and lifeless beige walls of downstairs were instead covered up here in various snippets of Teddy’s life, from posters of his favourite bands to drunken snaps with his friends. Kayla raised a smile, believing that seeing someone’s bedroom is almost like looking into their soul. Subconsciously anyone who had a say over their own room would decorate it and manage it in a way that strongly reflected their personality and outlook on life. Going by this, Teddy’s room- warm and full of memories with a slight unconcern for tidying showed him to be the sort of person who lived for every moment and didn’t worry about the small things in life. Which is pretty much the impression she had gotten of him over the past three years.
Kayla took a swig of her drink as she looked around for a moment before turning back towards him, still clutching his hand. She tiptoed up and kissed him very briefly, giving him a sweet smile as she pulled away and released her hand from his grip, taking the bottle from his hand and placing it with hers onto the desk. She quickly returned to him, her hands how free to wrap around him and resume the kiss, going in more keenly this time. Not quite as drunkenly urgent as the night before but as her tongue slipped inside his mouth, there was definitely a sense of desire in her body language.

We’ll make things right,
we’ll feel it all tonight. Kayla’s heart gave a little flutter as she felt him pushing her against the bed and she let herself fall onto the duvet with him, his body now pinning hers down in a close embrace. She let her hands caress his body as he kissed her, taking short lustful breaths as he kissed down her neck. This was so slow, perfect, unlike the urgent and loveless sex she’d had with her ex. Thinking about last night she realised this would never be how it would have turned out then. She may have had some illusion of an amazing romp with him but really, with them both under the influence of the alcohol, it would have been little more than a drunken fumble, lacking in any sort of emotion or feeling.
She smiled up at Teddy as he pulled away and spoke, echoing the promise she had made to him the night previously. Here, with their bodies wrapped around each other on his bed, she had no apprehensions about this statement. Her body was relaxed but her heart still beat quickly and excitedly, fortunately she seemed to have lost the nerves which normally plagued her. So she thought however, until she felt his hand slowly moving up her body as the kissed once more. Her heart which had been thumping just moments ago now seemed to skip a beat as a nauseous feeling of realisation hit her. How could this be happening.. how could she have forgotten?
This was literally the stuff of teenage nightmare, in just seconds time his hand would reach her chest and he would know that these breasts she paraded about were little more than lies. A bra-ful of padding and stuffing to push what she had up and in, creating deep lines of cleavage where really there were none. She’d meant to take it all out before she came here, go ‘au natural’ but the thought had slipped her mind.. until this moment. If it had just been a pair of chicken fillets it would perhaps be explainable but she’d gone to the extreme of boosting that up, stuffing bits of tissue down the side to further enhance her chest. This was pretty much a lose-lose situation, she could either let him find out for himself and be the laughing stock of the school for the rest of her life or backtrack from this whole situation and make him think even more so that she had some sort of multiple personality problem.
Kayla’s mind almost couldn’t focus with the panic as his hand rode higher. As much as she liked Teddy she would rather ruin things with him than go through with this and have him tell everyone she was a loser who stuffed tissue down her bra. ”No” she interrupted suddenly, the fear evident in her voice as she tried to push him off her ”I’m sorry, I can’t” she said, the words coming out high pitched and panicky. This was her one chance and she had ruined it, there was no way Teddy could deal with the hassle of this build up all over again, just to have to stop right before the crucial moment. She felt tears building up, making her eyes glisten with sadness at the crapness of this whole situation.

And as I drive tonight, west coast sky, daring me to try, I feel alive tonight. he said simply, and took a drink from the bottle and then shook his head. Teddy glanced back over at Mikayla and frowned. "I don't get it, last night you were gagging for it, Kayla," Teddy muttered, standing up from the bed and taking another long gulp from the bottle. "I mean, five seconds ago you were gagging for it," he added, sounding frustrated. Teddy didn't understand, Kayla had been up for it, he'd given her the chance to back away but she'd even insisted on going up to his bedroom. She'd set in motion everything herself, and now here she was rejecting him. Teddy couldn't understand it, and it angered him, especially as he'd never felt this rejection before. Being said no to was a pretty new concept for him, especially when added with the fact she'd managed to lead him on all night. Was this all some kind of experiment she was doing, to see how far she could push her new found confidence, only to find she'd gotten herself in too deep? [/ul]

We’ll make things right,
we’ll feel it all tonight. Kayla sat up on the bed as he moved away, letting her legs dangle over the edge as she stared solemnly down at the carpet. She listened silently to his pissed off grumble and began to chew on her nail, desperately trying not to let herself cry. Kayla had never coped well with people being angry at her and this, coupled with the general feeling of rubbishness about having messed things up, just made her want to sit there and sob.
She completely understood his frustration, she had now done to him exactly what he had done to her, apart from her not having given any reasoning behind her actions. She’d just rejected him flat out, or at least that was what it looked like. But how could she explain why she’d done this without revealing the whole of the secret which forced her away from him? She wanted things to work with Teddy so much but the thought of him saying anything and her being relentlessly teased at school about it made her feel sick. Teddy was lovely, but he was a boy, and this was the sort of thing boys loved to laugh about. She could almost hear the calls of ”Got a tissue Kayla?” already. Kids were cruel, and Kayla’s mental strength was low- she just couldn’t do it to herself.
”Teddy I’m sorry” she said again softly, her voice somewhat muffled from the nail chewing. She looked up at him briefly with big pitiful eyes before setting them once more on the carpet, moving her hand away from her mouth to make her speech a little clearer. ”I really like you it’s just...” With this her voice trailed off. She didn’t really have any explanation apart from the truth to fill this sentence with so it just ran off into silence. She wanted to just run to the toilet, pull all of this rubbish out of her bra and pick things up again but her heart told her it was too late. The moment had gone and, with it, any chance they had of making things work.
